  • Double Dribble was one of the best ever.

  • The gap between 1980-1987 could have been filled with Super Basketball (Konami 1984)

    The father of Double Dribble.

  • and now NBA 2k12 . . .

  • @cheatergamer27 I never liked 2K games... the players move so slow and they always get stuck in stupid animations that don't allow me to have full control over the player.

  • That Can't Be NBA Live 2005... Can't be. That the one with Melo on the cover. I don't recalled that game playing looses like that. Gotta be a PC version cause i had both. To top it off you don't even show clips of Lakers V. Celtic/Bulls V. Blazer or Live 06 Xbox version? The best live ever made? Not even 2k2? AWWW Come on My dude.

  • 4:16 NBA 2k10 (left side) vs. NBA Elite (right side)

  • Atari Basketball came out in 1978 not 1979.

  • WOW than i call EVOLUTION!!

  • we re All born in the right time to see these huge steps of video games

  • Also no nintendo 64?? Nba hangtime or courtside??

  • Haha I've played just about all these starting with my 1979 handmedown bball game.... So funny

  • it evolved from a single pixel organism

  • 2k series originated on the dreamcast you should of added some clips of that

  • dude at 1:21 u could have a seizure playing 5 minutres of that game...

  • 1979 sucked

  • where is the commodore 64 3 vs 3 basketball game, Bird vs DR J and arch rivals?

  • el de 1993 es mucho mejor que otros posteriores a el

  • My friend has an atari so we were playin the one from 1992 LOL THE SNEAKER NOISE

  • Damnn well put 

  • Nice job editing! It's amazing how far the game has evolved in the past 30 years!

  • Ah i remeber the drouble dripple was a good and fun game : )

  • Thumbs up for sure. My first basketball game was Double Dribble on the NES. It's crazy, seeing the first two on Atari's. My favorites are still NBA Jam and NBA Street Vol 2.

  • STREET VOL 2 BEST BASKETBALL GAME HANDS DOWN

  • awesome upload. can you update this with the new games (2011-2012)? That would be great.

  • faar thats madd

  • Basketball remains the worst video game'd out sport of any of the major sports. No one has really been able to capture the flow. Which is why I think games like Arch Rivals (not shown in this vid) and then NBA JAM (the best ever) were so popular... because they didn't try to recreate the actual game.

  • @pakkmann .........The worst video game'd sport? It's has the greatest sports game of all time in 2K11 and it's only gonna get better with 2K12. What are you even talking about?

  • they been tryna gay yall out ever since 1988 jordan vs bird....NBA Jam was the illest see that mafucka go flying lol

  • Street vol 2

  • You should have started with the Pong style basketball game. And featured the 7800 version of Hoops. And featured Magic Johnson, NBA Showdown, and maybe one of those Bulls Vs games for the Genesis.

  • nba street volume 2 is still one of my favorite games :)

  • nba jam :D

  • i love how everyone that makes these basketball game evolution videos, they start out with live and then end with 2k to show the huge improvement.

  • NBA jam will always be the best

  • I stopped watching whenever he didn't include Celtics vs. Lakers/Bulls vs. Whoever. #nocredibility

  • @stansayer When I searched for clips of these games I couldn't find any of those. Believe me I looked.

    #makeyourownvideo

  • @DTDB1225 aAsNpoWXRwc

    LLp6UB4s1P8

    #laziness

  • @stansayer Thanks. I just clicked on the video and saw your response. I whole heartedly agree. When Lakers vs Celtics came out on Genesis, that was the greatest thing since sliced bread. To not include it in the video had to be unintentional I hope.

  • He claims clips of those games weren't around when he made this video. As my rebuttal to him clearly indicates, they were around. He was too remiss to make a good video detailing the evolution of basketball video games.

  • @stansayer If I included every game that's been mentioned in these comments the video would be about 15 minutes long. The video description says "a quick look at 30 years of basketball video games".

All my friends and I played Bulls vs. Lakers, and that's what I searched for. The game that gave you warm fuzzes didn't make it into the video.

Deal with it and move on.

  • @stansayer you put a hashtag on youtube?! fuck off faggot.

  • wow the first one must of sucked

  • its crazy how the graphics have greatly improved. NBA jam, and Nba street are classics to me

  • u skip threw alot of of em befor 360

  • you skipped alot of crap

  • @kevinboltspark23 he was just showing the evolution of it. just like the evolution of animals. you aren't going to show every motherfukin evolution process over a period of billions of years you are only going to show an outline.

  • @Reallaty so y dont do it then its not like it takes a long time

  • @kevinboltspark23 yea it doesn't take a long time to view, it takes a long time to make . and either way thats up to how good the guy making the video is and how good he wants to make it

  • YES NBA JAM ARCADE! used to be my favorite game as a toddler, used to love setting the hoop on fire :)

  • NBA 2K? NBA 2k1? C'mon man, I can tell your an NBA Live fan, but how do you pass up one of the most innovative games of its time.

  • Nobody has asked for this song? What is it!

  • @PreCable "Papparazi" (instrumental version) by Xzibit

  • @DTDB1225 ...96 was a classic year. Good choice in music bruh

  • What's kind of funny is that Double Dribble is the best one out of all of these lol

  • @jpsplat bullshit

  • @TheBongbay sorry

  • I love how much this basketball video game has evolved!

  • Comment removed

  • OMG NBA JAM!!!!!!! I forgot all about that, that was soooo fun. Smoke pot, play NBA Jam = players with big heads.

  • I used to have Dr. J vs. Larry Bird by EA Sports, for the Commodore 64.

  • Amazing video.! 2:06 i still have nba 95 and sometimes play with friends :)

  • Compare 0:22 to 3:20

  • the videos of basketball games may change but the real NBA will never change

  • I'd love to play that NBA Jam game again

  • I feel very lucky i get to play all these awesome looking games. I'm only 19 so i wonder in about 40 years what kinda stuff would be available. id still play over 50 i cant even begin to think how crazy it wud be.

  • in just 40yrs. I wonder what the games will be like 40yrs from now

  • Excellent video my man. I remember in '82 I was 6. We got an Atari 2600 and i used to think that basketball game was the shit. Now i play 2k11 on my ps3 and am just amazed how much is put into the game that u actually see on television.

  • Double Dribble is better than NBA Live 10

  • when NBA jam hit the graphics got better in NBA games

  • damn really nice mix! thank you!

  • no NBA 2K1 on dreamcast .. the best game ever ...

  • technology.. hu knows the next 30 years we'll be wearing virtual visors and instead of joysticks and keyboards. We'll experience basketball the way we want it to be. haha

  • I like this video. I grew up during the 8-bit and 16-bit eras, and I hate when people let nostalgia blind them into thinking that old games were magically "superior" to newer equivalents...sports games are a prime example of how games have IMPROVED over time. I'll take 2K9 and NBA Street over Double Dribble and NBA Jam any day.

  • the 1993 didnt loook tht bad until i saw the guy shoot

  • What's the name of the song ? or the music !!!

  • @ankitiscute It's the instrumental for "Paparazzi" by Xzibit.

  • @ankitiscute Cover of "Pavane" by gabriel fauré

  • Name of the song ?

  • should of put nba live 2003 instead of 2005, it was pretty much the same n 2003 was when all basketball games changed

  • That first one was and still is the shiznit!!!

  • 2:00 LMAO

  • tecnology is a muthafucka

  • NBA Live 95 was the bomb that started the real alley oops and tight dimes for a sweet finger roll. Golden State can not ne touched on that game.

  • Wow the graphics have hardly changed in 30 years! haha

  • Man, this brought back memories.

  • 0:46 double dribble for nes was awesome... i played it a lot as a kid :D

i'm gonna look it up on google and see if i can find it somewhere on pc :D

  • thats awesome how it just gets progresses with better graphics and gameplay!

  • Man that was well put together and i like how you ended it with the best of all 2k10.

  • This video is tight I watched it about for times.

  • Nice video. Very good efforts.

Although you missed out most of the 90's but.....nevermind.

    Thank you

  • Wow i like how they sow Kobe carrying the ball, if the game developers can see that what cant the refs? (well all nba guys travel all the time)

  • thanks for the vid. If I had to play the Atari games back then, I would rather sip a few sleeping pills til I woke up in the Year 200. I miss playing the game "Run n Gun".

  • sickk

  • wait you forgot about "sega" console games of basketball and the arcade "run n' gun" =)
