In a recently screened BBC documentary, UK neuroscientists suggested that the brains of Apple devotees are stimulated by Apple imagery in the same way that the brains of religious people are stimulated by religious imagery.
its even worse in South Africa, a 16gb wireless ipad will cost $945
my 15" I5 cost me $2700, we paying so much more and feel the same way as you do, yet their products are ahead of the rest, but i feel that gap is closing, which is great.
Lots of whining. If you don't want to buy it, don't buy it. You have an I love code shirt on, and don't understand product cycles? If you don't want to pay top dollar, wait. Here's a clue, prices of electronics go down over time. Have you heard of the learning curve for assembly? They charge the rate the market will sustain for products, are we all supposed to feign shock? The R&D isn't cheap by the way.
They are a s#!+>- company with a few decent developers in it. They are becoming one of the most hated companies in the developer world, since they try to screw anyone and everyone and think that the mac culties will pick up the slack. They use the threat of litigation to stiffle any innovation that doesnt come from them, and
intimitate small startups by abusing the court system, and patent law. Jobs isnt just suing google, he is trying to destroy choice.
As far as I can tell, all the best innovations in the computer industry over the past 3 decades have been championed by Apple. Perhaps not always invented at Apple, but infused in their products and made mainstream.
That iSupply parts cost story is a Joke. First off they only guessed on what the parts would be. Second they left out many costs that need to be counted as part of the cost of producing a product. If you add the Operating System, the included Apps, shipping, warehousing, advertising, retailing, research, patient and trademark costs, legal, developing costs, plant and equipment, taxes, employee costs, etc. this is probably the lowest margin product Apple has ever released. The Price is Great.
First, a quote from my favorite Austin restaurant: "We gyp the other guy, and pass the savings on to you!"
Isn't this what makes $APPL a great investment, i.e., they know they have a loyal following who, at least in the past, would let them get away with adding on features in dribs & drabs, forcing them to buy a new iWhatever, when each new "gen" comes out? They know how to appeal to our lizard brains which are distracted and attracted by shiny, pretty things. I'll be waiting for 2G, too.
I don't see what the big deal is. You have the choice not to buy it. Yes, it is unfortunate that there is a 40% markup, but you know there is a cost of research that they want to recover early, specially when the shelf life for electronics is short. Plus, we don't go to Rolls Royce and say your car is too expensive. Luckily, there are so many players in the technology industry that one can find alternates.
I'm probably gonna wait a few more months to see if they upgrade anything and if not I'll buy it and then drop it in a toilet trying to send an email. Gawd. -_-' (<-- I was over the character limit! o.o)
Lucky. -.- My Macintosh broke and now I don't have money to buy one because of my brothers medical costs. :/ My iPhone fell to its death in a toilet. Gah, *dies! I would SO love to buy all of Apples products...oh my god...being able to buy just one thing....GAH~! I'd probably go insane...buying all of my favorite products from my faovirte store. Heaven for sure! XD And I personally think that this is just to open a few new gates...there are plenty of things that Apple can do with the new iPad.

You're exactly right. They're going to come out with an iPad S with a camera and have all the 1st gen buyers buy that one too.

A camera is an OBVIOUS standard feature for the iPad! Why wasn't it included?
TheAppleInvestor 2 years ago
Well, that's the Apple way, they have been doing that since the beginning. It really amazed me that it took you that much to figure it out.
