He certainly behaves shamefully in this episode. If he'd just gone after the adults, he'd have merely been a grade-A jerk...but upsetting the kids like that on purpose takes it to a whole other level. :(
Rataxes *is* terrible in this episode (and deserved more of a comeuppance than he got here) and does some really jerky things throughout the series...but he's not really an evil or irredeemable fellow. ^_^' He did help Babar and the others, after he was freed from The Hunter. That being said, it would have been disaster for all involved if Cornelius hadn't saved the day in this episode. Disaster!
Oh, the unbearable, when Retaxies was making the demands of having the grass, flowers, it made me so angry and outrageous as I was feeling like ''Let me at him! let me at him!''
''All these years, I never knew how valueable, this coin is....I always thought it was broken...Now, I can have anything I want from BaBar!..Anything! without question, without comfermise''...''without ancohvies'' Lol Basil;) How does he put up with him?
I get the feeling from Kings of the Castle, that the rhinos expect (and sometimes even require) that Rataxes act in a bullying manner, so it probably doesn't faze Basil too much when things like that happen. Not that he enjoys it. ^_~
Rataxes really goes to the dark side with Babar's family, though. Makin' little kids cry. Tsk! I hope he felt bad about it once he got home and thought it over.
What does Rataxes want a toy doll for anyway??
And poor Babar, having to put with all of that. D=

Especially when he wanted to take Isabelle's doll...oooh!!! I felt so sorry for her, seeing her cry like that.

Lol so rare to see Pompadour trying to be the voice of reason. This whole storyline made for a fantastic episode.
