  • Thank you!

  • thanks

  • is my right ear working?

  • Man I couldn't thank you enough, my girlfriend loves this song, and I can play well, but only metal, and frankly I play by ear...so don't know any of the chords... hell thanks to you I might learn 'em all.

You're them man, I've always loved scotland !

  • anyone know the barre chords for this

  • amazingly helpful :-) thanks....

  • whats the difference in acoustic electric and just acoustic?

  • the best guitar teacher ever!!! thanks for your helpful lessions! greetings from Slovenia

  • Thank u so much, you explained it absolutly brilliant . I have only 1 question about the 'ands' which strings are they ?

  • your ace cheers

  • why do you have 3 links to the same web page ????just curious ,would 1 not sufice...but the more the merrier i suppose lol cool lesson for beginners ..but the version coldplay does on acoustic guitar is only 4 chords with no capo so youre actually making it harder to play in this way ..but its a cover not a copy ...good stuff

  • Your video is great. Your website is atrocious however, you should really get someone experienced in webdesign to fix it up and I'm sure with that and the quality of these videos, you'll get more traffic.

  • great tutorial, i think you are a very good teacher.../Jonas from sweden

  • im part scottish!!! thanks dude for helping me ULTIMATE GUITAR GOT NOTHING ON YOU!!! You are sooooo much better at teaching. Thanks, Kayla

  • Thank you very much for this great lesson. Loved it !!!

  • Great accent and patient explanation. .thanks a ton!

  • thanks for the lesson

  • it's a good song you're teaching, the listings of chords are very helpful :) ... but for better lessons, next time, i suggest that you memorize the chords... it looks like you're looking at something beside the camera... :) and keep on practicing, every time when you change to Bm7, the first strum is dead note(finger is slow)... but all in all, good tutorial :)

  • Ta mate, nice lesson. What's that Les Paul in the background? Looks like a Sapphire Blue Gem Series, yes? I have one, just curious.

  • what am I supposed to do if I don't have a capo?

  • i don't have a capo. any suggestions? thank you. you are a very helpful teacher!

  • @venusenviedotcom Make one with a piece of elastic and a pencil? or you could just play normal chords (as in you would treat the nut as the capo)

  • Very nice tutorial, leant this song in 15 minutes, one to practice now, Its a great song to play as you can place so much emotion into it just by changing speed oad intensity of notes and rhythm

  • really good lesson THX!

  • thank for this great lesson, its great

  • Thank you a lot! You are great! No one can explain it as you can!

  • your lessons are so simple and smart..

  • Thanks so much! I'm really bad, but this REALLY helped. :D

  • Not bad! ;)

  • This was excellent! Thanks for putting this together for all us new guitar players. Nice pacing and I like how you overlay the chords for the song at the beginning.

"opps didnt see you there" lols,

over all your a greeattt teacher (:

  • Great :D Thanks!

  • EXCELLENT! THANKS!

  • i love this lesson >D , my first guitar lesson actually

  • thank u so much

  • THANK YOU..great lesson

  • Thanks for the lesson, it's excellent. I think an A7 chord instead of an Asus2 in the chorus sounds better though. The version posted by Steven0724 is great to strum along with when you've learnt this.

  • I wish we had youtube when i started playing! To all the folks just starting out dont give up!Its so worth it when you finally nail a tune that you always wanted to play!

  • its so true ive been practing for like 6 hours 2day and i cant set my guitar down i just learned horse with no name ive got a headache from it but i dont care =]

  • Nicely done! I hope that use this for my son when he starts playing!

  • Thanks a lot, this is a very well run video lesson that is very clear to even a beginner like myself! Please keep them coming....

  • i really liked the layout of the video. i'm experienced on the guitar but it still made this song really enjoyabe to learn

  • tried looking up tabs and got confused. thanks for the help!

  • Great lesson. Five stars...

  • good lesson easy to follow with the visuals thanks :) sound scottish too :D

  • i read the comment of cgerke1979 and thought cool in a night he learned it so i decided to learn it too and i learned it very quickly thank you so much

  • green eyes coldplay pleasse!

  • Fantastic learnt this song in 1 night thanks to you!!! Do you know Jack & Diane by John Mellencamp? Would be great to see it...

  • great lesson thank you!

  • I could really play and understand your videos well.

  • Great lesson for a great song :)

  • if you're supposed to play those chords, why are his fingers so far up the neck of the guitar? i'm trying to figure it out because i'm playing the chords but it sounds nothing like his, and my guitar's tuned.

  • I think finger positions are relative to capo which you can see on the third fret. For example, the Bm7 chord is played with three fingers on the fifth fret relative to neck, that means second fret relative to capo ;)

  • excellent, learnt in 5mins, thanks keep em comin!

  • thank you so much. perfect and I can now play te song!!!!!

  • i am a huge beginner, ive been playin for like 4 weeks total and when put my fingers on the chords, i cant help but touch another string that is supposed to be played open and i kill the string. is there a technique i can use to get my fingers out og the way?

  • id say you need to make your hand more 'crab like' and really utilise the pure tips of your fingers if muting the other strings is a problem. otherwise try and hok up with a guitarist who can show you a few tips. Most importantly - dont give up!

  • Oh Ok thnx. Lol :D

  • thanx for a great lesson keep em coming!!!!!!

  • what is o

    ?????

  • it means play the string without fretting it.

  • O = Open string.

  • Best instructional vid on youtube, huge thanks man!

  • thanks, spot on

  • im a beginer too. wat dose a minor mean? (m)

    eg bm???

  • Make sure when you're strumming the Fmajor7 chord that you hold down your third finger hard, otherwise it sounds very similar to the Aminor chord.

  • ok ok, im like REALLY a beginner at guitar, so go easy on me, but what does the "x" mean when it shows the playing chart? yeah...you can tell im a beginner, but thanks to any who respond!

    :]

  • It means you shouldn't play the string if it is marked with an x. go to my website kickstartguiiar. go to the Absolute beginners page, then selec the page Open chords. It give instruction on how to read a chord chart. John S

  • thnx- im a beginer tooo! like absulute beginer!!!!!!1

  • Thanks, I started playing guitar last week and my teacher was amazed I got to learn a song that fast. All thank to you

    Greatings from the Netherlands

  • or he's playing left handed or his camera view is mirrored

  • Thank you sooo much, this helped out a lot!

    =]

  • great vid!

  • tysm!! one of my favorite songs from coldplay i see you did don't panic too.

MAybe you could also try Beautiful World!

  • woops sry dont panic is same as beautiful world xD

  • great as always! thx...

  • Thumb up old man (sorry :-) your tutorial is amongst the best...but I am a bit groggy following because you're left handed

  • Thanx alot man.! I could really play and understand your videos well.! Good job.! =D

  • Hi lazyfret , would just like to echo the rest of the comments and say thanks for posting these lessons , they are very very helpful indeed ...i am a novice myself only playin a couple of months but ur clear and concise way means its pretty simple to pick up songs , i find that alot of online lessons tell u the bear essentials and rarely evr give strumming patterns which to me is important because knowing chords aint much good if i cant strum it ! Anyway thx again Keep up the good work

  • just started playing at age 50 your lessons are a great help

  • St Patricks Primary School is in singapore rite? cool, im from there. you study there.?

  • Yeah! First video-lesson, from which i can understand almost everything. Like someone already said, i was about to give up guitar, but i've found you.

Thank you very much! You've helped me a lot.

  • i find it easier to leave out the explaination of the strumming pattern, learner should just watch you play it and liste to you and the record they'l soon pick it up, your vids are great though, very good teaching

  • Even though it sounds good, the chords are wrong. Mr. Buckland does not use a capo, but he tunes the 1. string (e) down to a C. He plays bar chords with the thumb wrapped around the neck to fret the 6. string, and keeps the 1. string open throughout the song.

  • this is begginer guitar lessons, this man is a legend

  • Look up the word "arrangement". This is not wrong it is an arrangement designed for beginners. Don't be a killjoy

  • I don't mean to be rude, I'm just pointing out the original chords so people can try them out and play it like Coldplay do (I'm kind of a feinschmecker, so I like to play it like the composers - I guess some others do too). And I don't think it's too hard to play it that way, a beginner+ should be able. In my opinion the open e-string adds another dimension to the sound.

Anyway, I think your videos are good and informative :).

  • genius big man genius!

  • i love the way you teach. you have help me so much. i was ready to give up guitar, until i found you. thanks

  • thank u very very much. ur lessons are the best.

  • Sometimes needed for right pitch and easier chords. There are plenty of songs where you won't need one but advisable to get one.

  • fianly a good gutiar teach whogoes throght everthing step by step and esialy without skiping anything

  • Thanks a lot man. I can see you face and I know you´re a good person,as good as playing guitar. Keep going on teaching us.

    God bless you

  • Thank you!

  • are you from Edinburgh?

  • Thanks Sir !! I am Your Fan =)

  • ty great work!!!!

  • Once again I think the time you take to go over the song definetly helps out the beginner like myself.

  • Lazy fret, it is very concise. nice work!! do you have anything slightly more advanced?

  • Go to my website kickstartguitar dot com everything I have is there.

  • thank you for this lessons it's amzing thx you :)

    Greetings from Poland...

  • I started like two months ago and I would've given up if it wasn't for you! thanks

  • dont know this song nor am i a big cold play fan but i am a fan of lazyfret =) great job man keep it up

  • Agree 100% with Tubeloobadoo. I have been struggling since I started about 9 months ago until I saw lazfrets lessons, now I can't wait to get my guitar out every day for as long as I can. Now I can play quite a few tunes and its all down to lazyfret. THANKK YOU VERY MUCH :))

  • Absolutely fantastic lessons! very well put together and explained. Since buying my guitar a year ago I struggled to really learn any songs except for a couple unknown to me from beginner books, which really hampered my enthusiasm! but since discovering your lessons that has all changed! Thanks very much!

  • Hi, Really appreciate your comment. If you go to my website and read the ethos page, you will see that you fit my belief that many people give up through frustration, when they should be filled with enthusiasm, they are killed by really poor resources. Great to hear you've picked up your guitar again.
