  • Aire fresco para un genero mas que muerto. Sin duda lo mejor que ha podido pasar

  • Good stuff, thanks for showing me these neat bands. Do you like hot water music or small brown bike?

  • ive got an extremely underated band for you all: Rockets and Blue Lights. go give them a listen and thumbs up if you loved them (not being a thumbs up whore, just trying to spread this beautiful band!)

  • Count Your Lucky Stars shop is your friend.

  • Cap'n jazz isn't really revival band...they broke up years ago

  • @myguitardidyermom12 erm, they aren't in the video

  • Typo, it's "Joie de Vivre"

  • i love how some of these bands blend with math rock and make beautiful music babies.

  • You guys should listen to Elliott, Mock Orange (90's era) and Houston, all very good fucking bands!

    RIP Joie de Vivre

  • And algernon is probably my favorite out of the emo revival bands. You forgot to add snowing. They were a BIG influence on the entire scene.

  • @ThePuddleJumpr yeah Snowing is awesome too. I was going to add them, but could only fit so much in one video. Also RIP snowing :c

  • @h0peIs 9/11/11 nevar forget

  • rip joie de vivre :'(

  • What I don't like is that most of the current Midwest emo bands sound like American Football wish there was a band that sounded like The Promise ring creative and "emo pop" like.

  • ugh, this stuff is boring as hell. more constatine sankathi, less mineral / cap'n jazz rip offs.

  • i was heavy into all these bands, besides Perfect Future.... they seem good. i'll check em, also look into Snowing.

  • didn't see these dudes mention, but I'm enjoying the shit out of this right now.

  • This indie rock, 90s emo was like swing kids and spanakorzo

  • CYLS Records knows its stuff.

  • what do these bands usually tune in? do they all use capos?

  • you guys are all super cool cats

  • Empire Empire is no doubt the most underated band, kudos for having them haha

  • @ManchesterDespute They were the first ones I found. Heard a live version of "An Idea.." awhile back and fell in love and pre-ordered their full length.

  • I don't know Perfect Future but I'll check them out. I prefer emo bands with screaming-ish vocals to bands like Joie de Vivre and Mineral. I dunno, screaming just makes everything so much more dynamic and emotional. But bands like Empire! Empire! who pull off the same emotion with clean vocals have tons of respect from me. That E!E! album is fantastic. Nice video!

  • @JamesIsMyNamo2 They do some yelling in their songs. Not nearly as much as say Algernon or Cap'n Jazz. I just happened to clip a slower part of the song. It was sort of the defining moment of the track for me, so I thought I'd share it ;)

  • @JamesIsMyNamo2 well stated. and agreed, the higher, borderline yelled vocals really is to some good effect.

  • Been listening ti this stuff (also known as 'twinkly emo' or 'twinkly daddies', as I heard) for about a monthnow, starting with Castevet, which totally blew my mind. Now I've been checking out bands like Coping, Oceans, Algernon C., Snowing, and Moving Mountains (which I can't really place here, but they're kinda on the emo revival thing too). GOOD, GOOD STUFF.

  • The adjective emotional is a mistake. Emo comes from EMOTIVE. Emotive hardcore, emotive rock bands... Emo was not popcore, was not shitty music from MTV!!!

  • it's not 'from me to you', it's called 'a gift' in their myspace, can tell me why?

  • @samanthacadence On the CD I bought, it's called "From Me to You". I did notice there myspace page calls it "a gift". I'm not sure why they're a different. It's possibly a working title or alternate title.

  • this is the type of emo I like

  • check out Snowing if you like these bands. theyre really awesome

  • @matta38694 I have, great band. I was originally going to put a snowing song on this video, but the audio file was screwy

  • There seems to be a decent number of bands out of the midwest mixing that owls intricate clean guitars sound with screaming vocals. I really dig it.

  • for those people how are trying the feel of real emo like this, most of these bands are sponsered by Count Your Lucky Stars Rec.

    check that website out too!

  • How about we stop putting genres to the bands and just enjoy them for being fucking bad-ass.

  • No doubt, this is about the best thing to happen to emo in a decade. I was there for the first wave and it was one of the most compelling musical experiences of my life. You young kids that like these bands, be sure to check out the godfathers: Christie Front Drive, Mineral, Sunny Day Real Estate, Texas it the Reason, Elliott...

  • @bandbpeterson oh course. Nothing beats the classics. If it weren't for Sunny Day Real Estate and Mineral, I probably would have never started listening to these bands and others

  • @bandbpeterson Christie Front Drive, Mineral, Sunny Day Real Estate, Texas it the Reason, Elliott and co. are all Indiemo. Midwest Emo is Split Lip, Empathy, Enkindel, Shoulder, bands like that.

  • @AbridgedPause Please, don't do this to a beautiful genre. Emo has been around for years and sure as hell doesn't need you to define it or ruin it by trying to fit creative bands into your little "genre boxes".

  • @bandbpeterson when you say the "first wave" are you talking about the "revolution summer" bands??? rites of spring *.*??

  • God bless all of these fucking bands.

  • is the last three bands midwest emo? I thought this is screamocore or frenchcore and shit like this... hmmmm

  • @Sousleek Please dont use "core" if you aren't speaking abour hardCORE. I would say the last bands mos def are emo bands. I am a huge fan of Algernon Cadwallader, i think they're one of the best remaining bands in the genre. kinda mike kinsella 'ish emo!

  • august 12 at strangelight in chicago....total emo revival show! snowing, joie de vivre, glocca morra, the please & thank yous, and fixed orbit. it's gonna rule

  • Fuck yeah. I love every one of these bands. good choices.

  • @POOPINGASUSUAL Well yeah, but I think they mix it pretty well with the whole emo sound. Either way, great stuff. I also love post-rock

  • i love these bands soo much. i love how all you people share the same love for them.

  • I've been getting into the same bands. All the ones you listed are my favs.

  • @PsychDept That's cool, so I'm not alone. There are a lot more to mention here like Snowing, Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson, and Everyone Everywhere.

  • @h0peIs snowing is amazing!
