  • Even if you picked a major that wasn't the greatest. Nobody deserves this bullshit.

  • Ill owe about 70,000 after im done with my masters in engineering. Not too big a deal in the long run ill just be delayed a few years in buying a house. But dont borrow like I did unless you plan to make an equal amount in a year. Dont borrow 50k unless your starting salary will be 50k a year.

  • Don't pay simple!

  • Yo hayate, what're u fucking 17? Pull your head out of your ass, it's 2011, not 1971, 100k is pocket change

  • With the interest and her probably making the minimum monthly payments, her loan will be more than double when it is payed off.

She could have made more by going to a vocational school and become a secretary. Then she could have found herself a good man to marry and got a nice big house.

  • Who the hell asked her to borrow $100,000 in the first place?? That's already FAR too much to borrow for an education. I don't care HOW you slice it. She should have done her OWN research before taking out such astronomical loans. Sounds like a lack of personal responsibility to me.

  • @alstonpmaroon Yeah I agree, who the hell borrows 100,000 like it's nothing. It doesn't take an I.Q of no more than a rock. To see a red flag. I thought by age 18 you were an adult and you are fully responsible for your choices.

  • @HayateAzekura I agree. You should be responsible at 18. Even if you have never had a credit card or any financial responsibility, you should know that 100G is a lotta money. I just don't get it. Plus, this Rachel chick seems kinda self-entitled and bratty.

  • @HayateAzekura I want to know what her major is...most likely psychology or something.

  • The same thing is happening to small and major chain vocational schools. I'd highly recommend you do your own research and shop around. It's a vicious market and you need to be more vicious as a consumer. The best lesson I learned the school of hard knocks.

  • these colleges are evil

  • imagined if we just STOPPED all US imperialism in the middle east...imagine what that $725 billion + can do...

  • rocky: stop being stupid. "Critizing my posts do not (plural, not does not you fuck moron). The sentence structure "You need to learn English better is incorrect. It should be You need to learn better English make more sense. Alrite here we go:

I speak mandarin and Cantonese. I am way beyond your league fucking redneck trailer trash,

  • @rendertear15

The languages your speak are irrelevant. The net worth of my family is well over 100 million USD. You are obviously not familiar with trailer trash. In a year when I graduate with my degree in accounting I will be working for one of the most prestigious firms in the world.

=D So what do you do for a living? Where are you at in your life now?

I have traveled the world sleeping in 5 star hotels and eating at the only the finest establishments.

  • @Rockynurse So you lived off Mommy and Daddy? I would not be proud of that. You'll never know what it's like to ever have to actually work for something in your lifetime. You'll never understand what a degree and this sort of debt means to a working class citizen. Not all of us can afford lawyers to help us with loan paperwork.

You sound as hallow headed and superficial as a Barbie doll.

  • @KDD7734

LMAO Just because I have high family net worth doesn't mean I am spoiled. I have worked corporate jobs since I was 15. In a year I will be graduating and working 100 hour weeks in the tax planning department at a big 4 accounting firm.

My family didn't give me $ they gave me a high IQ, great critical thinking skills, and a strong command of the English language. That is why I understand complex financial situations.

Low self control Invalids deserve their indentured servitude.

  • @Rockynurse according to your statement, I shouldn't piss on you if you were on fire because you know how fire works and therefore already prepared yourself against any consequences because you did your homework. You are a subspecies, a byproduct of mass propaganda that promotes precisely what you are naively trying to justify. On the other hand, I am a human. I care about the less fortunate and empathize their misfortune and their shortcoming.

  • @psioniq

LMAO What a weak analogy! Go to your local community college and take a logic course!

Emotions are an animal trait. The ability to think intelligently and logically in both the short and long run is a human trait. The papers they signed clearly stated the terms, amounts and time frame of the loan. They should have read them!!! College students can read right?

You know I lectured a PHD student in the english department about the futility of excessive student debt. He was ignorant

  • @KDD7734

You don't need to have a legal education to use common sense in financial planning. Obviously there are strings attached to your damn student loan. NO DISCHARGE EVER! only payment!

    1. There is no credit history required for SL's

    2. There is no collateral required for SL's

    3. The amounts available are huge!

    4. The interest rates are low

    5. No job required LOL

Any reasonable person would be suspicious of too good to be true loans! COME ON?

  • @Rockynurse There are only less than 10k families in the entire US with that kind of wealth. I bet you are full of it.

  • rocky is the dumbest individual I ever met. If he were to study masters or pHD in physics or math and for sure does not have the talent or intelligence to understand that complex stuff. Take a good look at advanced Physics on the Masters level or advanced level. Either you got it , or you do not. Do not write stupid stuff that you have never achieved. Will Power and PHD ??? Crazy

  • @rendertear15

You need to learn English better because you make no sense at all. Criticizing my posts doesn't make your posts coherent. I have no desire to study a PHD in physics or math. A Ba in Accounting with a CPA license makes for a far more lucrative career. The opportunity cost to get a PHD is far too high.

  • that ok 100k not much. we make 1 mill over a lifetime

or 50k per year u pay in 2 years

that calculation not working out at all . what really happens is 20 years in debt and interest, no bankruptcy

  • no if no one makes you rich you should not too, refund for bad product that does not makes any riches to laborer, crap

  • Quit whining!

You took out 100k so you pay it back! An Art Degree is not worth 100k in debt and if you are smart enough to get into a top university you are smart enough to understand that!

  • OK, hardass. So what's a fair penalty for that error in judgment? And if an 18 yr old is considered too immature to drink alcohol, then why aren't they considered too immature to take out student loans and pick their career track?

  • debt for life. that is a fair penalty

  • You obviously don't understand why bankruptcy laws exist. Do some research on the law before you run your mouth.

  • I am an accountant of course I understand bankruptcy! If we don't forgive loans in bankruptcy and give lenders more protection for their assets then interest rates will go down. =D

  • Obviously, not a very good one. Let a 20 yr old educate you.

[Without bankruptcy] people would foolishly enter into loans that they have no business getting involved with, and unscrupulous lenders would take advantage of such individuals.

Bankruptcy laws create a check on the activities of LENDERS.

Why is your name have "nurse" in it? Are you an accountant for John Gotti or something and your day job is a nurse?

  • Also, you didn't answer the second part of my question.

  • @Rockynurse Harvard, Yale, Stanford any other Ivy League offer Art Degrees. It is taught by professors with PHDs. It is not bad, or do you want to say they suck.

The fact is also: Not everyone is born capable of studying Computer or Doctor. Have u tried ?? Calculus etc and got an A. It is hard. Any degree can help with a job. Sure nursing is good, why are u doing it. rEASONl YOUR BRAIN CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS.

  • @rendertear15

Clearly English is not your primary language. If you had read my posts you would know that I am not a nurse. My brain has a difficult time understanding your very poorly written post. Obviously the Ivy league uses primarily PHDs to teach courses. I have tried high level science courses and math courses. These courses are challenging but doable.

It is not a matter of being able to study medicine or engineering is a matter only of willpower.

  • 1. If your English is so good, why did you get B and lower on your papers starting from high school to college. It is not like you got all A. In the past your professors have marked your papers with red ink many times over (eg. wrong grammar, sentence structure). So stop pretending you know English well.

    2. Is your mind limited or are you just plan stupid ? Will Power and PHD??? Not everyone can be like Einstein. Those who talk cannot do. Do you have a PHD or not ??? If not, shut up.

  • @rendertear15

You don't need to have a PHD to be credible LMAO. So which garbage country are you from?

  • That stupid Oprah has pushed education but she hasn't warned students about the dangers of college loan debt or the numerous fake schools out there like Westwood College of Video Game Programming or ITT Tech. She is just a shill for Sallie Mae. Student loan debt is just as bad as the slave labor on construction projects in Dubai.

  • yes it is true, we need consumer revolution now, as it used to be workers revolutions in past
