  • this is... pretty well animated O_O

  • hey cobra commander may have fucked up many times but serpentor was an idiot all that dna of an elite warrior garbage and his 1st orders is to take washington dc head on seriously....cobra commander should of had mind bender imprison because serpentors actions nearly destroyed all of cobra

  • Press 5 for LIES! LIES! LIESSS!!!

  • Boy, they tore into Cobra Commander, good.

  • Thumbs up if you notice how they made breaking into the terror drome look hard to show how cool Pythona is when the Joes seemed to do it easily every week.

  • In cartoon storyline are mising some part but i think it is Very Good. The oryginal Cobra Commander form the movie 1987 or the series with Criss Latta voice is the best character ever or almost ever. COBRA ! ! !

  • We now have constant surveillance, TSA crushing our freedom, and even fucking VIPR teams. Cobra wins in the end.

  • @OgreMECH

this cartoon is based on fact

snakes from another dimension run the government

  • I think the best part is when the sentry looks through his scope, then hears a noise behind him.. all you see next is the sound of his screaming on the monitor

  • What did Cobra Commander say about Serpentor's leadership?

    I couldn't help overhearing about it from 1:19 .....

  • @roymanification That it's pompous, pusillanimous and pathetic.

  • Cobra Commander was voiced by the late, great Chris Latta, who of course also voiced Starscream in Transformers. Indeed, after Serpentor became the leader of COBRA, Cobra Commander took on what was basically the same role as Starscream: the second-in-command who was convinced he would make a better leader than his boss and took every opportunity he got to seize power. (Continued)

The difference is that unlike Starscream, Cobra Commander really was better qualified to lead than his current boss, and his attempts to seize power were more subtle, as demonstrated in this clip: instead of directly attempting to assassinate Serpentor (and risk being punished if the attempt failed), he tricks the other members of COBRA into leaving Serpentor vulnerable to an assassin. Later in the movie, when Serpentor is captured by the Joes, the Commander orders the other members of COBRA to leave Serpentor behind.

This of course indicates that the Commander is more intelligent than Starscream is. This is also demonstrated in one episode of the TV series, when he talks Serpentor out of leaving him for dead by pointing out that Serpentor needs him as a scapegoat for COBRA's latest defeat. (Continued)

And unlike Starscream, whose takeover attempts always failed (he came close to succeeding in Transformers: The Movie, but that's another story), the Commander ultimately does defeat Serpentor and take back command. (This happens in the DIC G.I. Joe cartoon.)

And that's all I have to say about that.

  • I always loved how Destro and Cobra Commander hated each other!

  • i remember thinking cobra commander looked cool with that cape when i was a kid.

  • wow tons of people hate GI joe the cartoon but I thought it was awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed Serpentor, I enjoyed Cobra commander, I enjoyed Duke and Roadblock and General Hawk and all of them. These cartoons were awesome and dramatic when I was a kid and amusing and equally entertaining now as an adult. For those who feel it paled in comparrison to the comic, I respect your opinion but do not say this cartoon was not successful when obviously it was.

  • @fading07 If you enjoyed the cartoons then I respect your opinon as well. But forgive me for saying that being a long-time fan of the comics, as well as a loyal Snake Eyes/Scarlett fan, I used to cringe in physical pain whenever I saw the cartoons portray Scarlett and Duke as being "together" simply because Ron Friedman and Sunbow didn't want to deal with Snake Eyes' muteness. As a result, an iconic couple and their epic storyline wound up being ignored by the so-called "mainstream."

  • some of yall bloggers are full of shit.fuck what yall saying g.i.joe was the shit from the begining to the end.it was about time that cobra had a real leader, who didnt take shit from anybody.hail serpentor

  • some of yall bloggers are full of shit.fuck what yall saying g.i.joe was the shit from the begining to the end.

  • Damn! They shitted on Cobra Commander big time!

  • I enjoyed Cobra Commander when I was a kid and I expected to see him in his Battle Armor before seeing this travesty. Being young at the time, this movie left me with a sick feeling once I watched it, and it can't be explained. It was about as bad as my reaction to RETURN OF THE JEDI.

  • I like how those crimoson guard guys were suppose to be equipped with AK47s in the comicboy and on the toys.

  • GI JOE cartoon creator Ron Friedman was a no-talent hack who totally corrupted Larry Hama's far, far superior GI JOE comic book storyline. That's why the comics outlasted the cartoon by over a decade.

  • @44excalibur

    .

    Agreed.

    .

The cartoon storyline was just OK, but the animation was certainly the best available, especially when compared to garbage such as He-Man & most of the crap found on Saturday mornings in the 1980s.

    .

The Joe cartoons are also way better than what is found today, with the exception of Justice League, Batman, & the Batman Beyond animation series.

    .

Storyline wise, nothing beats the comics, with the relations between Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, & the Soft & Hard Masters.

    .

  • @karlkole Funny you should mention HE MAN, because the GI JOE cartoon started to resmble that series when they began the Cobra-La/Serpentor nonsense. And you're right, nothing beats the depth of the comics and Snake Eyes' storyline with Storm Shadow and the ninja Masters, Zartan killing the Hard master, the Baroness blaming Snake Eyes for her brother's death and her plot to take revenge, and of course, Snake Eyes' epic romance with Scarlett.

  • @44excalibur

    .

The G.I. Joe Comics started going downhill when stupid stuff like Battle Force 2000 started appearing in the 1990s. You just knew that Hasbro decided it was more important for them to sell G.I. Joe toys than it was to continue with the great storylines.

    .

I really miss those comic book days with the Cobra Lawyers & the colorful, 5-dollar word slogans.

    .

Crypto-fascist, warmongering oppressor of the proletariat & of the freedom-loving workers of the world !!!

    .

    8D

    .

  • @karlkole It was never Hasbro's intention to tell great stories in the first place; they're just a toy company. The GI JOE story was all Larry Hama's from an original idea he had for a S.H.I.E.L.D vs. HYDRA comic book called FURY FORCE. It was intended to be a spin-off of the Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. series but it never got picked up by Marvel. It later became the basis for Hama's GI JOE storyline.

  • dammit pythona why didn't u kill serpentor i hated him so bad

  • I remember this when it came out. As a kid it blew me away.

The animation and the story were really good.

    Thanks for jogging my memory!

  • You know, the way the Cobra brass rags on Cobra Commander while worshipping Serpentor really cracks me up.

Because, from what I remember, CC was actually USEFUL. He had PLANS. Some of them were even halfway decent, by the standards of 80s villains.

Serpentor, in contrast, was just as useless as they're accusing CC of being. He never contributed any idea, never came up with a good plan - and he ruined a few with his sheer pig-headedness.

Cobra was more dangerous with the Commander in charge.

  • @ourimaler I agree 100% Cobra Commander was always the man when it came to Cobra. I hated Serpentor and fact they basically killed of The Commander in this movie. Just like they did Starscream in Transformers Movie. Damn Chris Latta who does both Comander and Starscreams voice gets no love lol

  • @ourimaler And Cobra Commander was the only one knew just how inept Serpentor truly was but for the sake of unity in Cobra, he took the high road kept his mouth shut. A divided Cobra was no good against the Joes. Serpentor may have been useless but his presence threw the infighting that was there prior to his creation to the wayside. The one that was hurt the most by Serpentor's creation was Destro because any shot that he had at taking over the Cobra organization was gone

  • @ourimaler But Destro, Baroness, Tomax, Xamot, and Mindbender did have a few good points.

  • Pythona was kinda hot in a creepy way.

  • Such a great film!

  • Badass.
