Are you sure it's a mig 21? it appears to be a J-7 which was a licensed out Chinese copy. Same plane but slightly different cosmetically. You can tell because the intake is slightly smaller and the intake cone is more recessed in the intake on the J-7 than on the mig 21.

For sure-This is a MIG-21 UM from the Czech army bought by and imported to the U.S. by XROCKET corp. Still had the original paint job. We will never forget the ride! Thanks for watching Xcorps!

It must have been one of the first variants characterized by the smaller intake and inlet cone. The subsequent models had improved engines and thus required more airflow so a bigger inlet was designed and a larger inlet cone for it which also housed an improved radar.

It was one of our dreams too! Sure was loud as all heck even with the helmet on! Radio headset worked pretty good. Oxygen mask had some issues but it was HOT in this thing even in the winter when we flew! Glass canopy got warm from the speed too!

Congratulations !!!! That is an outstanding job. I am a former MiG-21 UM crew chief from Polish Air Force. I spent many years maintaining MiGs almost all wersions. That was good time for me. I aways dreamed about such fly, but now there is impossible in Poland becouse every 21s are grounded. What a pity... Now I am a F-16 crew chief but I will be always the MiG-21 "lover". Ha. Many thanks guys! Have a lot of fun with the one of the most significant aircraft in the world. Good luck !!!!!

This mig is from Czech army. In czech army this planes flyed to year 2006 I think. Now are too old. I live in czech republic. I live near the air-drome, so I saw it myny times and I sit in this plane. It were good planes, but it has too big radius of curve.

Yes we flew in this Mig21 with pilot Bob Ray who was practicing air show stunts and it was MOST impressive to pull full combat G's in it! Never forget that ride! X Rocket bought this Mig-21 from Czech Republic you are right. It has the original paint left on. Amazing long life low maintenance plane that is FAST! You sat in this plane! Wow! That's great! Your in The X Corps!

Good day my friends!

First of all, it is nice to see someone flying the Mig. Sad to see round 20 of them written of at my airport, former CSSR AF base. And say Bob had nice landing. Pilots say, if you can land 21, you can land anything.

About the rolls, there is a big risk on high rate rolls, original MG21 manual says you have to have them more than 4 seconds for 360. Inertial roll may happen, and plan would just roll without any chance to stop it.

I will surely chceck the site. If Bob was interesting in further explanation of this phenomenon, I may gather more info from former Mig 21 pilots and pass them. There are several factors, including too big inertia to counter with ailerons.
