  • I've personally raced both lt1 and ls1, lt1 stock wasn't even close ls1 pulled on me after about 5 sec off the line. Both Cars are good in their own way

  • O.K. what mods on the srt? i have a 93 LT1 formula I/E CHIP 160 STAT 3.73's and have yet to lose to a STOCK skittle(i'm 54 and keep my bird running like the day i picked it up)i know alot of people come up against old abused LT1's.

  • Just a little message to explain to the dumbfuck srt-4 haters on youtube.

    Due to the boost on an srt-4 it is tuned to were the tq is around the hp range, making the srt-4 superior from rolls, beating v8 cars, often 300-350hp from rolls. From a stop, the ws6 would have lit the srt-4 up. A stock srt-4 is spiking 14lbs of boost, if you mod it with a 150$ wastegate, then you can up the boost to about 22 with everything else stock, making the srt-4 around 300hp, beating even more things.

  • @BryanLovesDub ...not sure what the hell was up here in this race but it claimed both cars where stock...now i do find it somewhat hard to believe a stock SRT4 took a stock LS1 F body car...thats an easy 5-6 car difference in them cars at the drag strip in stock form...dono tho..maybe it was a fucked up LS1 or it needed the best mod of all..driver mod..hell if i know..just does'nt make sense..LS1 F body's have ran as fast as 12.8's STOCk with good drivers of course..i know a SRT4 stock cant

  • @ilovechevy1 heres how i know this though. i owned a 2001 camaro z28 ls1, 6 speed with full exhaust and intake. Me being a good driver, still lost to an srt4 from a roll. he claimed he was stock, and i did alot of research when i got home. stock srt4's can beat ls1 f bodies from a ROLL. me being one case. off the line. yes you are right the quarter mile time is different, because it's fwd with less power. rolls however have different factors in them. srt4's are great from rolls.

  • @BryanLovesDub ..this is very interesting...believe me when i say i'm not saying you are wrong..but if you are right...it makes me wonder yah know...i have no beef with an SRT4..but i have seen many a turbo 4 cyl of all types such as STi's and EVO's and modded turbo civics loose in all types of races to an F body ( LS1) ..the EVO's and STI's with thier AWD will trounce a stock F body off the line at the track then the LS1 power will make you blow by them around the 8th mile...kinda like a roll?

  • @ilovechevy1 and yes. i've seen sti's lose to srt4's by car links. as well as evo's. this i have to explain more in depth though. if you look at a stock srt'4's dyno sheet. they have more hp than torque. being that they boost so high, their torque peak is like 5k rpm's? sounds funky right? evos and sti's are way lower. the torque at this rpm causes them to be really really fast at high rpms. lets say you hve side by side evo and srt4, 40 roll. The srt peaks its torque when the evo peaks his hp.

  • I find it shocking that the race was that close. I have raced many SRT-4's. The stock ones I put 3 or 4 car lengths on. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since I wasn't there but I'm still puzzled the Trans Am lost.

All I have done is an exhaust system and some better tires and I'm sitting at consistent 12.8 on quarter mile and racing on a dig is a bad idea against a ta even an ls1 which has more high end power.     SRT got the jump, and it's a close enough race that the WS6 had to play catch-up the whole time, that's pretty much al I saw. Yes a stock WS6 *should* be faster than a stock SRT-4, but not by a very large margin folks, get over it.

All im saying here folks, a stock LS1 is faster then a Stock SRT4 No matter what. Stock for stock, when you put them on paper it is faster. RWD vs. FWD, with half the torque. Stock for Stock, the LS1 is quicker. Agreed?

  • In perfect conditions the ls1 is faster....but that DOES NOT mean it can't be beat by an SRT-4. That is the only reason I even posted this crappy vid.

  • Half the torque? An 04 or 05 SRT-4 puts down 250 lb-ft of torque to the wheels stock. Not to mention that an SRT-4 makes max torque all the way from 2200 rpm to over 5000, and weighs 2900lbs. I'm not saying that a stock SRT-4 is faster than a WS6, but from a roll it's not a bad race. On the highway the SRT runs like a low 13-second car, it's the launch that kills it in the 1/4 mile times.

Has anyone of you been in a stock LS1 and seen the way it pulls up top? It is not uncommon for a LS1 with intake and exhaust to break into the high 12s with a capable driver...

  • To a point. If you are a very bad driver it's hard to drive an ls1 into a 14 honestly. You have to be a bad driver to do that. ANd at a roll I don't think it's slow. I'm not sure when boost spools up in the srt but Honestly from a roll NA > Boost All day. Unless your boost launching at like 30 lol.. And I don't think his brakes are even pressd. The srt4 is rated to run a 14.1 the ls1 ws6 is rated to rn a 13.5. So I guess it depends. Honestly I think the ws6 would take it stock vs stock everytime

  • I'll agree that it takes a bad driver to run 14's in a LS1 car. But how bad can you screw up a roll race in an auto? The boost comes on quick with the stock turbo. Sure the srt may be rated at 14.1, but the factory or magazine times are almost always slower than the real world. I agree it should be close in threory, but the lighter weight and a quick spooling turbo on the srt makes it a strong runner. Too bad it cant get out of the hole due to sucky fwd.

  • LOL. Stock for stock quarter mile times are .5 secs apart. NOW, figure the weight difference on a roll race. 533 lbs, granted thats not a whole lot, BUT it's a big difference on the get up and go part. The SRT will pull EVERYTIME. It's sheer physics.

    The power to weight ratio is in the SRT's favor. 230 hp to the wheels @ 2984 lbs.

    The WS6 is making 300 hp to the wheels @ 3157 lbs.

Second I drive a 00 LS1 Camaro with an auto tranny thats pretty much stock an I would race any SRT neon anytime my buddie had a slow mustang an walked all over a not so stock neon an I'll take down any all motor mustang with my mods so how bout i race your neon... an KfCOrBust knows what he's talkin about cuz he's an Ls1tech member like me an we know stok LS1>SRT neon 7 days a week

  • Nah dude, SRT4s are shit slow from the factory. I shit on them in my old Mazdaspeed6 with and my car would get walked easily by an LS1 F body. Either these cars weren't stock as advertised, bad driver, poorly running car...etc. LS1 > SRT4 stock for stock.

  • If I EVER got pulled by a stock mazdaspeed 6 I would sell my car the next day. First of all they make less power than an SRT-4 and they are a lot bigger car. Speed6 has superior gearing with the 6 speed and it's just no chance from a dig. I raced a couple stock-ish SRT4s when I had my Speed6 and I beat them both easily. I didn't truly believe they were as slow as the were until I test drove one. Then I realized the full failure that is the SRT4 Neon.

  • Theres no way,unless the TA driver was granny shifting it.I know SRT4s are quick,but WS6s do 0-60 in about a second quicker,and 1/4 in about a sec quicker.its a 100 hp difference,and WS 6s arent THAT much heavier than a SRT4.

Then again a friend of mine's SRT with bfg DRs and a WG spring ran a 13.3 thats a low 13 sec. car. Both cars have close to the same power but the neon weighs less. Oh and the WS6 is just a susp. package the car still has the same HP just weights more.

  • They do run low 13's factory stock. Thats if your only looking at the LS1's. The 93-97 LT1 f-bodies are a bit slower.

  • I have an srt-4, and love it.. I have to say though, that a WS6, stock for stock, should pull away a little bit. It would be a decent race, but the trans am is faster. They have about 330hp at the crank, and do weigh more than our cars.. but that's a good 60hp advantage, and a good deal of torque too. With a good driver, a WS6 can run low 13's stock, I see it all the time at my local drag strip. All you have to do to an SRT4 to get low 13's would be tires, motor mounts, maybe WGA.

  • The mopar stage 2 doesn't do a lot for the car by itself. If you pair it with an SST or E1 turbo then you can make a pretty quick sleeper. The SRT-4 is not the fastest car out there but it is quick enough for me. That ws6 beat me by one car from a dig. I have found that it is more driver than anything. I have beat cars I should not have beat and, I have messed up and got beat by cars I should have walked. I hate roll races but we were bored.

  • please explain how a stock srt can beat your cobra or your friends ss when my sons ffriends stock srt gets beat by 2-2 1/2 cars by my 93 firebird formula and i have an LT1 under the hood with just k&n and a flowmaster

  • I would NEVER own an SRT-4 but they put down 220-230whp stock dude. A stage 2 SRT weighs 400+ lbs less than you and would have whatever hp gains the stage 2 kit brought over you as well. Anything other an a dead stop and you would get owned. I used to own an AWD eagle talon and shit I would kill from a light would walk me from 60+. Thats da truth!

  • You have to remember that the Mopar Stage 2 "upgrades" don't increase power nearly as much as what constitutes a Stage 2 Subaru.

  • its because they are so fuckin light weight... my cobra has 320 hp, my buddys SS camaro has about 360 and the SRT4's only pack about 230 at the wheels but they are like 1200 pounds lighter then the SVT and the SS. i dont care too much for Mopar but Dodge got it right with the SRT4

  • and the SS weights almost 1000lbs more... Ive seen SRT4s beat SS's. Both stock. More than once.. Its very close though.. mostly driver.. theyre just about dead even until 120plus then the SRT puts a car or less.. ss's are quick.
