Fair point, however the Irish aren't really any different from the English/Scottish/Welsh. The only reason they are independent is because of the water. They are the same people as the British.
The US is far more racially mixed than Europe. Races from all over the world are mixed in America, and they have managed to cooperate well enough. We need to overcome that hurdle in Europe.

Many of my ancestors died in the 1 WW on the front to italy and russia, so you don't have to tell me which people died for the old empire. If you go back to the past, you would see that the austrian rulers wanted the equality for all peoples in austria-hungary, but the hungarian rulers oppressed the minority.
