  • could easily see nirvana doing this.

  • It has that nirvana sound

  • the best album of Dave! great dave!

  • think it's kinda sad that everyone compares everything he does to nirvana.

  • @dancingchicken212 but this Album was very Nirvana like. So I can see why back in the mid 90's that would have been said.

  • @josaba2001 yeah, but even the most recent foo fighters stuff is being compared to it even though they sound completely different.

  • @josaba2001 oh no, i sound so moody. i'm not really.

  • Caras os foo fighters são muito bons!

gostaria muito de falar com eles!

    e quem n gostaria!

  • Dave was really influenced by Kurt Cobain!!! I love foo fighters because dave still used nirvana type.

  • "Did you ever listen?

GET OUT, GET OUT, GET OUT!"

Ohhhh, man... This song is eargasmic.

  • Great song! Kinda reminds me of Serve the Servants.

  • this is a good song to play when your solo queue'ing some pvp

  • @Gebbx82 If you solo Que BG's as a mage

  • lol, whenever im just sitting somewhere, and i hear something to do with a foo fighters song, i immediately think of that song. FOO FIGHTERS FOR EVER!!!

  • dose anyone else think this was about kourtney love?

  • Read Cobain, instead of consonants below.

  • Grohl was expanding himself musically, he recorded the Late sessions at the end of 91. Consonants actually welcomed both Dave and Novoselic having input on IU, taking some of the songwriting burden off him. I think we would have seen a different Nirvana over the years, and maybe no FF. In any case, Kurt had a profound influence on Dave.

  • its actually Alone+Easy Target. you got the song title wrong.

  • Everyone is different but I still listen to the first Foo Fighters Albums. I never listen to Nirvana anymore. Dave's songwriting and musicianship are better than Kurt's were. And that is said with the utmost respect for Kurt Cobain and what Nirvana did.

  • One of the best songs of FF ever.

  • Comparing Foo Fighters and Nirvana is a little bit silly. Different bands completely, let's admire the fact that apart from one guitar part, Dave Grohl constructed this piece of brilliance that is this album by himself. If you really like Nirvana, you're going to prefer them but stating who is better as fact is a very narrow minded thing to do.

In the end we'd all love to be Dave Grohl but we're not. Now listen.

  • Sorry dudes, but Nirvana > >>> Foo Fighters, in almost all aspects and that's all.

  • @popkorn256

    Nirvana better than Foo Fighters?

You got to be kidding. Kurt was too much worried about talking about himself and dealing with the fact of being known that there's no way he could be better than Dave. Kurt gave a shit about all of his fans and stuff, he suicided because of that, don't you remember? and, by the way, I'll bet all of his fans were in love with the guitar playing or rhythms, not the whole thing.

  • The fact about Dave is that he can create an album great as fuck all by himself and not precisely in which he talks about him but about other stuff which is the most easy way to start as a "new" musician. I really like Nirvana, and Kurt by the way, but their not better than Foo Fighters, neither than Dave. If you want real GRUNGE hear "My Poor Brain" or "Enough Space", among others.

  • @Aussio Nah, I'm not kidding. Really. At least Nirvana kept his integrity 'till the end and never did radio-formated soft rock. 'Cause let's face it: the Foos are boring since One by One. And yes, Kurt spoke about his own nightmares and I believe in a quite deep way (In Utero and Bleach). And sorry to tell you: Nirvana created the (huge) wave, the Foos followed like so many others. That makes all the difference. Now, if you like the Foos, I totally respect that, 'cause I do too.

  • @popkorn256 I don't think they got boring afterwards 'One by One' album, I think they grew up as every single person or thing in this world. 'In Your Honor' has really deep songs in its Acoustic Side, it's full of talent and it's really complex musicaly talking. About its Grunge side I got nothing to say, they still being loud. I think if Nirvana would still have existed they would've changed their "sound", it's hard to say they wouldn't beacuse of their 7 or 8 years career, don't you think?

  • Sorry if there's any syntax mistake, I'm trying my best from Chile ! ;)

  • @Aussio You depict Kurt as being narcissistic in his music, however Kurt is one of the few guys (if there are any others at all) that would happily place someone else song on their album and say "we, Nirvana, love this song, we'll play it for you, but it's X's song and they deserve the credit for it." He, was very picky about putting out a certain type of song that fit his idea of what music should be, and frequently Dave got the shaft because of it. But Kurt was no asshole either.

  • @Aussio I've said this before, Dave Grohl is a true rockstar that was unfortunately outshined by Kurt Cobain. Nirvana would have inevitably broken up because those two couldn't co-exist, but they had no malice towards each other either. It's just that Dave and Kurt were too big of stars to fit in one band.

It's kind of like trying to put James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine in one band, they're both great but man, they just can't both co-exist either.

  • @RicoLen1 But they did co-exist together. It's a fact. And Grohl admired Cobain's guitar work. He said he was blown away by the kind of stuff Kurt would come up with. Dave Grohl wrote the song "Scentless Apprentice" for the "In Utero" album by Nirvana. Kurt didn't like it much, but he went along with it anyways....he didn't want to hurt Dave's feelings. :)

  • hey markdurocher100... fuck you

  • my favorite song and my favorite album

  • Crank this up and get pissed...!!!

  • @markdurocher100

yeah. that's why you are watching this. I bet you're are nodding your head and singing "get out, get out, get out!"!

  • @markdurocher100 Get out, get out, get out, get out

  • @markdurocher100

GET OUT, GET OUT, GET OUT

  • thats a fking sweet ray gun !!!

  • Certainement le meilleur groupe du monde. Et le meilleur musicien du Monde! Pour Sortir un bijou pareil tout seul...

  • Dare i say it; foo fighters are better than nirvana.

  • @pip449 no at least not yet they need maybe 2 more good albums. but its incomparable in a way. because nirvana was around for 6 years and look at what they did. they were the voice of the generation and became legends. and foo fighters have been around 15 yrs. and have 3 or 4 grammys in a way foo fighters have surpassed nirvana but only because nirvana isnt around anymore...

  • "I'm alone and I'm an easy target." ? There are times I REALLY identify with that line.

  • 3:06-3:14 what a killer drum filler....best I've ever heard....Dave Grohl best fuckin drummer ever

  • this is my favorite foo fighters song its awesome and so underated...

  • I wonder why suddenly the word Metronome is in the lyrics. I heard vage storys about Kurt calling Dave a stupid metronome. But I don't know that's true.

  • @Lenjaful I've been listening to this album since it came out, and your comment finally gave me another glimpse into the potential meaning behind the lyrics.

  • @stackedactor1 I don't really know if it's true, if it is, it's kinda harsh to Dave. Not that I don't like Kurt or something.. It's still kinda harsh.

  • This was one of my favorite albums when I was like 13 or 14, still like it

  • Their 1st albums were grunge/alternative,especially this. after in your honor he turned more and more to this American Mainstream Rock.

  • @Eldererr his style changed from the 3rd album..

self titled album and CATS were great but foos have been going downhill ever since

  • sorry if its been said many times before but you could easily Kurt singing this song.

  • @Jpbremner yeah i find that too i can hear him sng this

  • it blows my mind to know that dave put this album and the colour and the shape album together BY HIMSELF!

  • @aaroncadereed wrong. he only made the first album by himself.

  • this song sounds like Beatles.....

  • i used to play this album over and over and over again back in 1995. it brings back many memories. music is just great and magical like that...

  • i love the foo fighters, and they have taken a real journey since tracks like this one, i don't think it'll ever grow old on my ears though.. well to be honest i don't think i'll get sick of any foo fighters songs, what i like about foo fighters is the fact that you can feel the passion they feel for music through their music :)

  • @zoerebeccaclarke foo fighters best band ever!!! because of the great musicians that make up the band, especially dave grohl

  • @ThePremadeNoodles yeahhh!! totally agree, its definitely a winning combination even though it has changed through their career, it always works :)

  • People say that if Dave Grohl had shared his songwriting talent with Kurt Cobain, maybe he wouldn't have blown his head off.

But try to imagine introducing a tortured dictator with ideas, only to have them warped, transformed, rejected and discarded.

I'm glad Dave kept his talent bottled up and created Foo Fighters.

This debut album is not as good as Bleach or In Utero, but better than Nevermind. And maybe on par with Incesticide.

  • Dave Grohl has surpassed nirvana....Nirvana was not bad....but everyone thinks they started the whole grunge era...WRONG....they were the posterboys....Really liked to hear what Kurt would have done if he didnt shoot himself in the face but giving Nirvana credit for being the best band at that time would not be right.......I loved em but i loved some other bands more

  • Not surprised Kurt loved this song. "Now I don't have to be the only songwriter", he said, upon hearing this. If only...

  • This song is about his 'job' as the drummer at Nirvana.. Kurt Cobain only thought of

Dave Grohl as a stupid Metronome..

  • @Lenjaful Wow, I cannot even begin to explain to you how incorrect that statement is.

  • @bonoistheworst Try to.

  • @Lenjaful First of all, kurt did NOT at all think of dave as 'just a stupid metronome'. They had a great relationship and were like best friends. The foo fighters song My Hero is about kurt actually. I'm not sure how you came up with this theory, but you're wrong, and while I'm not sure what this song is actually about, it is DEFINITELY not about that.

  • @bonoistheworst no My Hero is about fireman doctors ect... evryday heros. But Friend Of A Friend is about Kurt. I think.

  • @clayandaaron Just googled that. You're right it is about everyday heroes. That doesn't change the fact that Lejaful is extremely mistaken.

  • @bonoistheworst tru lol

  • why do these songs cut off before the end?

  • One of my all time favorites by bieng sweeped in with Everlong & Times like these followed by The Pretender i can honestly say i love the FOO FIGHTERS

  • great song from a great debut album!

  • After listening to this entire debut album by Dave Grohl, all I can say is that I liked where his head was at. I'm sure some of the material on this album was geared toward nirvana. Had kurt cobain not blown his head off he may well have used a lot of dave grohl's work that he put on this album. Foo Fighters AND Nirvana rule.

  • @1996davies youre wrong soo wrong

  • Dave is a musical Genius !

  • this song makes me remember to Nirvana!!!!!!!

  • Has anyone ever figured out what my lyrics were about yet?!! i don't owe you anything? i'm alone and an easy target? Its alright if your confused let me be?Don't you listen to my interviews about the trials with Courtney? how i say we laugh and giggle to each other after deciding with attorneys what is going to happen to Kurt's remains? READ WHAT HE WROTE ABOUT ME IN HIS JOURNALS! MY ENTIRE SONG MARIGOLD WAS TO FUCK WITH KURT. OR KURDT K TURD. Turd in a punchbowl.

  • the new youtube makes it harder for checkin out channels and stuff....i hate it, anyways, beautiful song

  • The reason I like the Foo Fighters is because none of the songs would have worked as Nirvana songs....

There are certainly elements of Nirvana in there, but for the most part, it's pure Dave.

  • sounds like nirvana spirit

  • panties off

    i want out

  • Oooh, oooh, E! AH! AH! AH! I found a mistake in the lyrics printed here: Instead of "Food and Cavities" it should be "Voodo Melodies". I have the tab book for this album so I know.

  • Nirvana was good, and it launched Dave to where he is today. Dave has said it himself, without Nirvana, there would be no Foo. This album was mainly a lot of demos from Nirvana, but a lot of original stuff and basement demo recordings that he managed to put into an album.

As far as a Nirvana comparison, you won't find one here. There is none. The only reason it's connected to Nirvana is that Dave was in Nirvana. That's it. From one Nirvana fan to the others. Foo is Foo, Nirvana is Nirvana.

  • @tallicdeth You sound like idiots without a cerebral cortex when you make such asinine comparisons. They are two different bands. There never will be another Nirvana. Move on.

  • dicks! where's the end of the song dick?

  • Dave Grohl has worked really hard to establish himself as a musician. It must be aggravating having people compare him to Nirvana sixteen years after the fact.

  • @robotsforever i heard this album was supposed to be the next nirvana album till kurt died. i could be wrong tho

  • @fakturd78 I don't know about that, but I know that Dave wrote most of these songs while he was still playing in Nirvana.

  • @robotsforever he needs to get over it,if he wasnt in one of the best bands ever it wouldnt happen

its like asking Paul about The Beatles all the time, same thing

  • @robotsforever Dude Kurt and Dave are both great i compare him them just cause i think of Nirvana first cause thats who u liked first

  • @robotsforever as a matter of fact, today is my first day (of all next) i heard their first album and first compare in my head - Nirvana

  • @robotsforever

totally agree, hard to even compare grohls songwriting to cobains, grohls is so complex and creative , while cobain wrote just beautifully simple songs.

  • @robotsforever Yeah. To think, that was more than half the years that Kurt Cobain was alive.

  • @robotsforever what fact?

  • @iseesue12 Kurt Cobain died and Nirvana ended...dipshit.

  • @robotsforever

aggravating? you must be stupid. he takes pride in that shit.

  • All you Kurt's widows...

    please shut up

    faggots

  • Dave Grohl is just as talented as they come

  • man, I can only imagine that this is how Nirvana woulds have turned into if....you know.....just imagine how freaking cool would be grohl and cobain creating songs side by side.....like scentless apretience.....so sad -_-!

  • Great song.

  • Cobain-Grohl has a nice ring to it. But it could never happen now...

  • thats a lot of nirvana on it, thats because its good.

  • fecking awesome

  • According to the interview in this months Mojo Mag,Kurt heard this song And Exhausted and wanted to record both songs but didn't want to ask Dave if he could change the lyrics to Exhausted.

  • very underated song.

  • @whoandtheha

    I think you mean album.

  • @whoandtheha I agree 100%!! My all time favorite Foo Fighters' song! What's your's? Please reply.

  • Alot of these songs were writen when Grohl was in nirvana, so i always see this song as an adjustment between nirvana and Grohls own musicianship.

  • wow deep

  • you know I have to agree with some post, this does have some Nirvana feel to it , lyrics as well seem to fit Kurt Cobain style of writting? interesting? Well great sone anyway.......

  • i luv ths vid

  • This is a bit wierd, but I can't help but to fall in love with the tiny little break before the mainpart, don't know why. xD And I absolutely LOVE the mainpart, awesome song.

  • I heard from someone that in an interview, Dave said this was supposed to be a Nirvana song. Can anyone prove that?

  • the only thing sure about this album is that dave played every instrument for the entire album and that some songs were demos recorded while he was still a drummer in Nirvana...

  • Supposedly a lot of the tracks on this album were part of a Dave Grohl solo EP or demo or something that he made during and after In Utero, and he played a bunch of it for Kurt who really liked it and wanted to use some of the tracks.

  • Where could i Get this album?

  • well i got mine from best buy, its just called Foo Fighters and it has a cool space gun on the cover

  • i tunes

  • thanks

  • Special order it at a music store, or for a much better price, check Ebay and order for yourself.

  • f.y.e. or best buy!

  • The chorus sounds so Nirvana...

    I cant remember the song...

I can just imagine Kurt Cobain doing vocals on this

  • this song has a bit of a Nirvana feel to it.

  • somehow this was always my favorite... and I still like it!!

  • dude gnr's new album blew and i liked appetite and illusions 1 and 2

  • this song would be so beautiful if kurt sang this with dave on drums

  • best song on the album, even better than exhausted...

  • is it true that this was recorded during the nirvana days and that kurt heard it and liked it?

  • Wrong song bro. That song would be Marigolds

  • Ya kurt heard it in like 91 and said it was cool and wanted to record it but dave hadnt it finished

  • Still considered grunge to me. The 80's and 90

s were to great generations for music. Everything has slipped today. Metal and so called today's hard rocks turns it screamo. Grunge is the farthest hard rock I'll go to. The best thing you'll find today is a couple songs on the G'N'R's newest album and practically nothing else. I'd agree rap would be O.K in the 90's but today's suck. All they have a bunch of swears, hot girls (which is ok), crap rhythm. and gay guys like Kanye West rapping.

  • soo many punk bands are about to break through soo you cann fuck urself youi dontknow music at all you know basic shit ..and your gay

  • Wow it's just my opinion you fucking retard. Go take your gay shit somewhere else. I'm gay??? You are arguing over Kanye West who sounds really gay so I think you're gay. Punk sucks. They're trying to sound like grunge but they sound gay. Very few punk bands that are good. Plus, all your inclusive statements don't make sense coming from a fucking 8 year old. Go fuck yourself in the corner for all of us. People that have a bunch of dicks in your mouth like you, should go to gay Kanye West stuff.

  • only punk band i think is good is rise against but punk is their new stuff, rise against old shit is amazing. so i agree older music is way better than stuff today

  • Obviously I shouldn't be arguing with a kid that has a ton of bullshit in his mouth. Go back to the crap you listen to. I don't really give a shit what you think. There are some good stuff out there in the "New Generation" but very few. You're probably some guy that likes crap rap from today that doesn't make any sense.

Go back to your shit because I honestly don't give a shit about you think. All other opinions are good here except yours. So yeah, go fuck yourself over in a corner!

  • i dont listen to gay shit these days i listen to older shit...soostick ur fingers in ur ass and go play with your dick

  • todays music isn't too bad some examples are muse, the black keys, the moaners,m.ward, silversun pickups, kings of leon, the dead weather, apples in stereo,Roky Erickson, airborne toxic event, the mars volta. I'm sure there are few more but that just off the top of my head.

  • I too could hear Kurdt singing this ...easily.

I beleive DG was paying tribute to a talented musician and a lost bandmate.

Nirvana is as easy as in and out.

  • Very true. Kurdt and Dave would have collaborated more on material had they remained.

  • my fav cd of foo fighters

  • i could really picture kurt singing this!

  • deffinatly. and have dave doing backing vocals. would of been great.

  • Hedge, the gun is the XZ-38 Disintegrator Pistol, a toy from back in the 60's and 70's :)

  • フーファイで一番好き!

  • Hey does anybody know the make of that gun?

  • Actually it's supposed to be a "futuristic" gun set in a old-timey background

  • The gun looks like steampunk

  • This song is just so fucking awesome and epic! And I love that drum fill.

  • Im sure many've noticed, but the soun of the drums are very similar between songs like this, exhausted, big me (somewhat), and I'll stick around. All the same album though, so its explainable^^

  • Great song. Great band. But now. No i don't think so.

  • Amazing. Outstanding. Real talent.

  • I didn't know that Kurt liked this song until i heard Dave mention it in an interview.

  • what interview

  • This song is...epic!

  • fuckin epic

  • hey do you know that Krist Novoselic is playing on this track?

  • He isn't, Dave composed and recorded the whole lot by himself except for one guitar section in X-Static.

  • played by Greg from Aphgan Whigs...FTW!

  • did you know kurt wrote it

  • No Dave wrote this song for Kurt:P

    Hahaha!

  • hes right i heard in a interview that kurt wrote it

  • Actually dave talked about exhausted and alone and easy target. I think one dave wrote and suggested to kurt...kurt liked it...and the other kurt wrote and dave made foo fighters after he died. Or dave wrote both and kurt wanted to make them nirvana songs but never came around to it. Overall its all the same thing wen u think about it...

  • yup,

well this is a great song overall

  • kurt didnt write it, dave did when he was with nirvana and kurt liked it and wanted to put it on one of the nirvana albums but it didnt happen

  • wait actually dave might have wrote it when he was in nirvana and kurt wanted to make it a nirvana song.

  • lol ya that's right

  • i like the whole album-

  • I remember Dave saying in an interview that Kurt wanted to use the song but change the lyrics. It seems like a song he would like, and the sound of it would suit his voice really well.

  • Best Foo Fighters track ever has a nirvana feel to it!!

  • Kurt Cobain liked this song very much!
