  • Man .... been looking for this group for over 15 yrs..since loosing cassette tapes of the originals. thnx

  • love this song ...so many memories

  • This was the joint!!! Video soul classic!!! Anybody got a good copy of the Video!!! If so please post so I can copy it!! Thanks!!!

  • Tired& fed up! That's what Star and Curt were after they said goodbye to stardom. Curt eventually came back but Star stayed away, married JT Taylor and opened a beauty salon. This song was as beautiful swan song AND they KNEW it was coming(with a message in the wording). Since starting out with Slave, they have both been involved with contract strings, money woes and names. Curt funded his eventual way, Star married and became a businesswoman/owner and both are happy in their own new lives.

  • this song sounds like it was meant for Cherelle......

  • @suedesoulnatl AMEN!! RIGHT ON!!!

  • Silky smooth clear lyrics great music.

You can just sit back and relax to this not now it's a shame times have changed.

  • I WAS PUMPN THIS IN MY 79 CAMARO ON THE SOUTHSIDE OF CHICAGO PARK MANOR IN 88.YOURS TRULY MACIOX!!!!!

  • Deja is real good on this song. But I know that Cherrelle could really hit this one with her singing this.

  • I've been looking for this song forever. Have not heard this since 8th grade. Thanks Man, for posting!!! At first, I thought it was Cherrelle. Deja just had a touch of Cherrelle's vibe.

  • @DRobin741 Legal issues with a former member over the name Aurra made the duo change their name to Déja, and with this name they only cracked the bottom half of the Top 100 R&B hit chart with the Teddy Riley produced hit, "Made To Be Together" in 1989. Starleana Young left the group to go solo, and was replaced by Mysti Day.

  • This was jamming back in 1988!

  • uh uh uh can't wait to get the equipment I need to record this jam and other old school jams ,thats what I prefer to listen to anyway, real music

  • wow... did not know this jewel - thanks so much for bringing joy to the ears of soul loving souls!!! Feels like coming home..

  • This was a great time in music and life in general. Definitely took me back in time. I was a Slave fanatic and all the break off groups only added to their Legacy. Don't matter if its Steve Arrington, Deja, or Aurra. Its all still Slave!!!!

  • OMG!!! I loved this song....does anyone have it on CD? Listening to this song brought back a FLOOD of great memories. I LOVE IT!!! Thank you Gr3gster!! :)

  • @adavis1881 - Oh but YESSSSS!!!!!

  • Always good!

  • A sleeper 4sure.... thanks for the share Trent!

  • NO WAY! Thank you to the millionth power! This was the deal maker!!

  • Beyonce who, im sorry but Starleana, Jody Watley, Evelyn King, female lead of Starpoint sorry forgot her name and may she RIP but those women and many others of the 70's and 80's had vocals. Has the music business done away with auditions cause I don't see many of todays artist making it through the door. When are these companies gona wise up and start reading comments about todays music that they promote. No more talent scouts I guess, hell no more talent!!!

  • @ronpc Her name was Renee Diggs.

  • @ronpc i see your point in most cases and im not a beyonce fan but to be honest the girl does have pipes she can blow if given the right material and alicia keys makes cool jams but shes no patrice rushen there are a few that are out there that can hold their own not many but a few and remember its not about talent as much as it is about looks

  • Geez, I've been searchin for this forever! Thank u.

  • Man, that made me break out my cassette copy and play it...(yes, I'm showing my age)

  • @kennethsnoel

@ lease you didnt say..8 track..or reel to reel hahaha

  • It's a shame they don't make good r&b music like this anymore.

  • Uncle Monte Moir getting some props!!! Thanks for sharing this groove with us.

  • Thanks for this - one of my all time favorites -just beautiful

  • This is one of my fav songs this group came and went too soon.

  • I always loved this song.

  • mon-te didnt get many opportunities to shine but this one is flawless, i think he did one on control also...jam and lewis didnt do right by this guy in my opinion

  • @joeyinempirestate He produced The Pleasure Priniciple, Janet's hottest song (and video) ever.

  • what happened to us? why did we give up such good music like this only to get what we have today? " as long as i'm living in this world oh baby thats where you'll find me". classic!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i heard the song the night of my brothers death and every time i hear it, it reminds me of him. i fell like he is singing this song to me. "In your heart I will say as long as I'm living in this world oh baby thats where you'll find me". R.I.P Larry Coleman. love u much.

  • My mom saw this duo at Tipitina's in New Orleans. She brought me a copy of this album. i still love this song!

  • was this used for the Guiding Light soundtrack for one year in the late 80s?

  • love this still!!! thank you for this!!

  • this is tha shit keep it coming

  • oh my! This reminds me of video vibrations and video soul with donnie simpson and sheila banks.

  • "As long as I..." OMG this is the jam!

  • Her voice is pure pleasure. Thanks for posting.

  • its the funk!!!!!!!!

  • This is one of those smooth, black, soulful tracks you never get tired of......makes you just wanna grab your loved one and sing this to him or her....even if you can't sing at all. You don't get that soulful feeling in black music today, nor from the last 15 years or longer.

  • Great song lyrics ' melody' ' Thanks for posting!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the most underrated songs in the history of R&B. A nice easy groove and a silky voice to take it over the top.One of my all time top 10 jams.

  • new jack swing forever. I'll never give it up.

  • Very nice!

  • one of my favorite songs in the world!!!!!!! i love it

  • i love this song still, thanks so much for posting it!

  • Nice track!

Thank you & to Trent for sharing!

  • This is definitely one of my favorite tracks from their album (cd) "Serious", so smooth and mellow, this is simply outstanding 80's R&B, undoubtedly!!

  • This song is so awesome and relaxing. I was young and really enjoyed this song. Bring back some memories.

  • I can remember the weather and situation with a chick that this song got me through. A nice rainy warm evening. The element of chime and rhythm will always work in a emotional song.I love it!

  • I'M IN TEARS...THIS IS MUSIC!!

  • "THIS IS MUSIC,"...I wholeheartedly agree with you! Beautiful, rhythmic, soul-grabbing music...a rarity these days.

  • Yep, this tune used to remind me of a long drive at night in the City. It pulls you into it.

  • agree with all the comments i am white guy and was brought up on this from the age of 17 and really really miss the soul muic loved to watch soul train and solid soul in england the music was in a different class loved dancing to these tunes in a particular night club in sunderland england called libertys music aint the same anymore i am stuck in the 1980,s forever

  • This is one of those songs that you never get tired of cause it's so soothing to the african soul.Real soul music like this just hipnotizes you.

  • Ah man, this tune is one of the all time classics.

  • you will find me in your heart Eitan,always...

  • luv this classic jam...the vid is so beautiful..and so is the lead singer!,...

  • I forgot this jam existed along with Mtumes "Prime Time" another jam you must check out. Thats why we call it soul music cause it reached down to your very soul. My people what direction have we gone, how can rap just dominate like it has and where have all the old school artist gone.

  • 100% agree dude !

  • Preach on ronpc. You sound like me. I've been stressin' that same shit about African-American soul and this fucked up,shit-talkin rap music.

  • @ronpc you should be thankful 4 rap! because it makes you appreciate the music that you took 4 granted, thinking that it would be this good forever

  • I have been looking for this forever. I remember when I saw the video for this on BET I was like whoa this is enchantingly smooth.

THANK YOU so much for posting this Gr3gster!

  • still love this song brings back good memories..this was good music, especially when they are Aurra.

  • oh if life stayed this easy..

  • I agree with you 2000% jollybearjokes. I've been fed up with our black music(Soul,R&B, and especially Rap) fro the last 13 yrs or so. Our music has lost that deep African-Soul that use to put you in a rhythmic trance when you heard it.Anymore all I 've been listenin to is ol;school. On another note I'm tired of these dumb-ass rappers embarassing our people with all that nonsense.

  • Cheetie72 ... wow, you said it perfectly, absolutely right on.

One of the ways we can keep this kind of music going is to "make sure" to buy them on iTunes or CD. While at the same time "not" buying nonsense. We vote with our dollars and if people dont provide quality stuff like this I won't waste my money.

"Our music has lost that deep African-Soul that use to put you in a rhythmic trance. All I 've been listenin to is old school. I'm tired of these dumb-ass rappers with nonsense".

  • African-American culture at its very,very,very best.

  • You ain't kidding!

  • I'm glad you agree merco80.Their are a million other brothers and sisters that feel the way you and I do about black music from the last 13 yrs or so to todays nonsense-ass music. Then you got the brothers and sisters that agree but don't feel that strong about the situation, but to me that's uncle tom-ass shit to me.Enough is e-fucking 'nough. I'm tired of these ol' illiterate-sounding rappers embarassing decent black folk and exploiting black women.I know that's not all they know.

  • I noticed around the start of the 2000 millenium music took a turn in all sectors. Timmy Gatlin one of the original members of Guy has an interview here on youtube I believe it's pt3 anyway what he said is dead on about the corperate CEOs of big record companies pushing rap and squeezing out R&B. He also went on to say the only way to get a record deal in this day is if your song starts out with a rap lyric and back in the day there were so many groups and now you can count them on one hand.

  • Ha ha ha.Timmy Gatlin hit the hammer right on the nail ronpc.Ol'school rappers and rap pioneers are just sick to their stomach about what has come of their culture.

  • Now you here this jam right here merco80? Here that deep African-Spiritual soul vibe? And she's singing about something, and from the soul, which is what us African-Americans are about. We are a tribal spiritual culture just like Native-Americans,but the world, even alot of our own people don't look at it that way because we get caught up in the problems of the world and black is looked at as a style. So brothers and sisters can keep uncle tommin' if they want, but Im keepin' it African-tribal.

  • Monte Moir of the Time also produced Janet Jacksons "Pleasure Principal" the boy is the silent one of the group but when he produces it's loud and clear. This is the essence of true soul music and who we once were musicaly It's a damn shame where we are now as far as talent goes. In the 70',80's and early 90's there were so many groups and singers you couldn't keep track of them all, now you can count them all on one hand. Thank God the true pioneers blessed and left us with many great songs.

  • This is one of those timeless cuts, never tiresome,a good song to wake up in the morning to and one of those sweet melodies to hold and sing to your loved one. That's what true African-American soul is about.Soul music is our tribal-spiritual music because in case some of us have forgotten,we are a of a tribal culture just like the native-americans and Funk,Soul, and R&B is the tribal music that makes our bodies move.

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!! last i heard this song was 9th grade. damn!! brings back memories, dude. oh no...eyes getting misty...i really miss this type of music.

  • yess yess yess no one remember's this groove..everytime I ask about it folks say im trippin ..didnt the guitar player play for kool and the gang

  • Incredible song produced by Monte Moir of The Time. The boy is bad. He also produced Alexander O' Neal's "A Broken Heart Can Mend". He's on drums in the video.

  • Thanks to you Gr3gster, this song has become popular once again, so take a bow for the post. Thanks to you, we are all feeling great music again!!!

  • Hehe.. my pleasure TLDavis1230 !

  • Oooooh, I forgot about this song. Good stuff. Thanks for posting this!

  • Monte Mo' is a baaaaad boy!!!!! Now what time is it?

  • Such a sweet african cultural melody with such quality, something you don't find in music today. This cut brings back memories for whether good or bad. Ol'school music forever party people.

  • True dat, true dat!!!!

  • I'm glad you agree TLDavis. Music today has lost that deep, deep african-soul this ol'school stuff had which defined us as a culture, now it's gone. Some new artist try, but it aint the same.

  • I remember when this came out I was in high school at the time. I used to go the rink and met this girl named Donita, we danced to this cut. Hearing this remind me of how this were simple back in the day and how much fun we used to have.

  • Ahhh, the memories of BET's Video Soul with Donnie Simpson hosting...that's when BET was actually worth watching!!!

  • I WILL ALWAYS LOVE THIS!!

  • reminds me of Video Soul

  • I sooooooooo loved this song this reminds me of my freshman year in high school so young and innocent I had a crush on a guy and this song reminds of that feeling. Thank for evoking a beautiful memory:)

  • To that special someone out there whom I've hurt, dearly. I just wanted to say, that is always wanted to say is that I'm sorry. We were so young and foolish back then. I will never forget your tears that night when your friend drove you to my apartment, unexpectedly. We were both in college(FAMU)-so young. This was your song. You are always in my prayers, "that's were you'll find me."

    Love, dimples ;-)

  • love this song, i didn't know it was produced by monte moir thats why it has that mpls sound love it.

  • great music when i met my first love this was playing we met in the rain rememberable moment i wish life can be simple as it was back in the day

  • My ex back in the day used to love this song. Believe it or not she even entered into a talent show to sing this song. That's when life was so simple and fun.

  • This was produced by Monte Moir of the Time.Good Stuff.

  • This video was just recently uploaded by someone.... If u check out my favorites. "That's where you'll find it" (ha ha)

  • they dont make great music like this any more where did it all go

  • music can sure bring back great memories

  • Yes, especially if it's the right kind

  • OMG !!!!! You have no idea, how long I've been searching for the Deja cut.I was starting to think I was there only fan. I been searching for this Video since the early 90's after I lost my vhs tape.where I recorded the video like 50 times... I kept lookin under Teddy Rileys posts, but no luck. So I tried it again and Bammmm here it go. No video but the Song is a Treasure still... Thanks for the post "Gr3gter". You just made a brotha very very HAPPY!!!! (Class of 89)

  • Me too, but I only knew the song title

  • OMG!!! I love this song. That young lady has a beautiful voice. Do anyone know what she's up too today???

  • I think she still sings.

  • Thanks for posting this song. I haven't heard it in years :)

  • I have the original video in my library, direct from the record label, but it's a VHS tape. How do I post it?

  • Oh wow "rchilds59", I use to have this as well.. Can you please try and post it... If any one could help, and have this video posted

I would be 4 ever greatful... Thanks

  • Hi. Just posted the video. The quality is not the best, but per your reqeust I wanted to post it.

  • I can't believe this!!!This is my song!!!I looked for this on Youtube for a minute, but it was'nt on here.I have'nt heard this song since I was younger, singing it in my mirror. There's a video for this song though.

  • Yep..I wanna the vid to be posted..its one of those classics from a Golden era of Real music...the vid was amazing!

  • I sure wish that someone could come up with the video too. This audio is the video version of the song. I have most of the video from an old vhs tape of "video soul" on BET. They also sang this song live on the Arsenio Hall show. I have been trying for years to get someone to release the Arsenio Hall show on DVD. I am still pushing because a lot of the groups & performers that didn't get the exposure that they deserved still made it because they were on his show.

  • I want the video of this so bad!

  • Me too! I use to love it.

  • Also, where did you download this audio? The version on the actual cd is arranged a little differently and plays longer. This is the exact audio from the music video.

  • It was ripped from the LP record of a friend. So this version is from the original album bought in 1988. Obviously the 12inch version and cd edition have been arranged and/or extended. Hope you like it :)

  • Really nice rip! Thanks for bringing back one of the better songs that didn't get the love that it deserved.

  • Beautiful song. Starleana Young was my first real crush.

  • Yes yes... That is her name "Starleena" (torpedoboy4) Man she was my teenage Crush big time. Watched this video over and over... Didn't she have like green eye's or some color.

  • i have always loved this sone, thanks for the post!
