Wow! People are getting offended just because the anime doesn't depict a country realistically? That's funny, really. Since when is an anime anything more than a show to entertain people and make money? Since when is it real? That's what makes it entertaining, after all, the fact that it is nothing like real life. People just get butt hurt about everything these days. I almost guarantee that someone will get upset about my words as well, not that I really care. I like the show they way it is. :)

this is interesting but it makes me think of how american artists never really get Japan right when we try to tell stories in that setting, it looks like all the artist to this knows about Mexico is what they've seen in National Geographic. @aztec005 lol There are so many inconsistencies with the surroundings in this anime. If you tried to count them all you'd prob die before finishing. It seems like a mix of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, San Francisco, time warped between 1875 and 1990, with the entire population replaced by Japanese instead of the real life Native American / White mixed population who speak Spanish.

So far I count 1 non Japanese but she appears to be a Japanese speaking pure native :P.

@outpostprime no, it's just Mexico. lightly populated areas of mexico it seems. they even get to the state of aguas calientes or at least thats what a place is called "hot waters" or "thermal waters" if that is the state then it is an inconsistency because the atmosphere looks more like that of north western mexico

come to think of it, this series reminds me alot of that El Mariachi trilogy. especially, the bar scene in this one. A room full of unsavory gunsels, a one eyed bartender, and someone asking for something out of the ordinary in a bar. Straight out of Desperado, but it works.
