Ive tried so many times to get up close to one of these birds. They always hear or see me coming and run off before I ever get a glance. Your so lucky to capture this.
@verticalsmurf Thanks for the comment! This was the first time I had seen one in the wild, and we saw another two the following day. I would definitely recommend the Wolgan Valley if you want to see one, as the place was teaming with them.

no tripod! i was halfway through a seven hour trek with a 30 kilo pack on, so I had to lean against a tree for support.

I'm jealous. Whenever I go camping I'll look through the undergrowth for a Lyre Brid while all the time I should have been looking up!
