That's not even the half of it. when i served, i went out back in 2003 when it started and it was hell. so when i got back, i tried my hardest to tell these young guys and these OFFICERS that its not a walk in the park and you NEED to take it easy on these guys when they get back. My Father who was Not Drafted, special trained, was some of the first ground troups in Vietnam in 63' The experiances he had are so horrific that I don't think all the training in the world can prepare you for that kind of shit. He has PTSD. He does beter than a lot of the guys but he is still very troubled. I have PTSD as well because of childhood trama. Working in Pharmacy, I witnessed a Veteran of First Gulf War, who had strange illness, who paid me $ 1600 for medicine for osteoporosis (the biggest cash money I ever saw). His father World War II veteran (use to fly bomers with nuclear bomber) told me that after first gulf war, his son went insane and his daughter in law left his son, with whom she had a baby girl.

I also met a World War ii veteran who has to make a choice between meal and medicine for $7 worth.

As a Vet with PTSD rated @ 100%, I can say it took a lot longer than 18 months to get my rating. I had to Fight for my PTSD rating after Iraq dispite the fact that I had it from 1999 after serving in Bosnia. Also this "18 month" closed case rating the VA reports includes death of the claimant. If a Vet dies before the claim is processed, it's considered "complete." So, it helps their #'s when we off ourselves.

McCain gets $58,000 a year in disability from the VA. McCain's aids said his disability came from limited body movement. You can't get 100% disability on that, at least not the kind he has. If you lose a leg below the knee the VA will only give you 40% disability. A person with 100% disability gets about $2,500 a year. POWs get more. Since McCain still has all his limbs he is getting 100% disability and part of it is for PTSD.
