@thisisobvious he would have did better in the TT i think but not enough to win. Since he was like 6 secs behind Armstrong at the end and I dont think Armstrong slowed down. But Ullrich should have attacked on Stage 13 when Armstrong was tired or Bianchi(sp?) should have did better in TTT and supported Jan more.
it was the year armstrng crushed the bike of leiseika four times on stage and he did not get üunished.
he also rode out track and that should have been a six minute penatly as well if rules were applied.

@DerUnbeugsame38 No he was second five times: '96, '98, '00, '01, '03. He was 4th in 2004 and 3rd in 2005.

it must be a time trialists' worst nightmare to ride in the wet... I would love to know what would have happened if Jan hadn't crashed.

Ullrich always crossed himself before a time trial. He didn't that stage. I wonder whether that was an omen of things to come?
