Yes it stands as Poco is the Best! and the eagles ...pop rock. Yawn but really Poco is just a great feel, good music, band and it just so happens they were the best musicians and singers and songwriters.No one knows why they were not the commercial megastars they should have been but any Poco fan knows they were the best and pioneered the way for later bands!
I can't believe we're still having the Poco/Eagles debate almost 40 years later. Bottom line: Eagles were (and still are) a commercial sellout, copycat band. Poco, i.e., Furay, Messina, et. al., were the pioneers of country rock. Then, Furay sold out to Geffen; Schmit to Eagles. Hey, everybody wants to be a rock star; everybody wants a hit record. Who can blame them? Gotta make a living. The original Poco was awesome. The current "Poco"...well...sucks.
This version has nothing to do with the far better cut on "Deliverin'". If you look at the post script---this is an Asian, or some other "Third World"--- deal (Poco was, and remains, huge over there). The Live US Album cut of this song was recorded in Boston with maybe some judicious insets from NYC, circa late '68 or '69.
@bigmarty56 almost right. side 1 was recorded live in Boston (w/ the ever lovely Charles Lackendorra hosting); side 2 was recorded at MSG. Great album!
I know that they were a great live band, but this is totally out of tune. I think that it is the version that was put out on that live album I played all of the time. None of my friends at the time could stand it.
I don't hear how this is out of tune! Sounds pretty in tune to me, and I'm a musician. It's a ragged video copy that's for sure and bands always sound a bit out of tune when they play live if they can't hear themselves properly.
The instruments are in tune, although bending the guitar strings that much along with a pedal steel does creates a dense harmonic texture. I was referring to the vocals, I believe.
gamoombat, I will take POCO ANYDAY over The Eagles! And I like The Eagles! Poco rocked 10 times harder than that overplayed "Hotel California" crap! As if that was the greatest song ever written in the history of rock and roll. Poco's "A Good Feelin' To Know" kicks ass and endures.
I never liked the Eagles much, although I recognize their musicianship. I did always like Joe Walsh, so I listened to more of the Eagles after he joined. Hotel California was a good song, but not his best.

@Biscuit303
You're right. The people who had the formula to make POCO will never be copied by other people...not as good as the original.

I think this is a different version than the one on the live album- though I'm not sure.
I just don't remember this song on the album be as out of tune as this version.
A great tune, really.

I love Richie and the boys and they did alot of great great music - live and studio - unfortunately this not one of their finer moments (IMO).

Come on, gamoonbat! This might be a ragged version of the song, but the band wrote a whole clutch of songs that have held up very well.

We are a select group of fans, though. Sort of like fans of the Chicago Cubs, I think.
