Excellent! How is this music called generally (obviously being different than flamenco)? And one more thing. Do you know what music was played in the spanish colonies during the late 17th, early 18th century? You know, the golden age of piracy and stuff.
@CubeableGame Thanks! It's classical guitar music. I'm not sure about it being played in the colonies. The classical guitar had its peak a little later. Many of the great classical guitar players were around the Mozart/Beethoven era whereas the period you've named as the "Golden Age of Piracy"was around the time of Bach. In this era the lute was all the rage, rather than the classical guitar which was still being developed.
@LearnClassicalGuitar Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions:) I was always aware about the lute in that period, but I was asking about the guitar (at least, the baroque guitar if we want to get specific). I always had the thought of pirates with big feather hats playing the guitar or something similar.
@LearnClassicalGuitar I going to cry because I want classical guitar lessons sooooo badly, but no one teaches it in my area. I already take lessons for piano, and I did take lessons for violin. I love classical music and guitar, but i can't find lessons :(
@ShredderGuitar2 you could try the Classical Guitar study course. there's information on it inside the Beginner's Program. Just click through to my website and you'll see how to register.
@ShredderGuitar2 Not for the free beginner's course. There's a fee for the Classical Guitar Study course but it's purely optional whether you join that or not:))
Having been working on the exercises in Pumping Nylon, I've been looking for a good first tremolo piece. Mr. Maurice -- wily guitar instructor that he is -- has provided a great one. One that progresses from p-m, to p-m-i -- and after a well-placed pizzicato section -- to a full-fledged p-a-m-i tremolo. Booya! Thank you for this.
Part of the fun of this piece is that there's a different arrangement for every guitarist who plays it. Flamenco was _made_ for improvisation, and Malague~a is the perfect vehicle for it.
This song was composed by a very virtuoso Cuban composer, whose name is Ernesto Lecuona. "La Malaguena" is inspired in Malaga, a beautiful city of Spain. Lecouna loved Spanish music. This piece is very well knon all over the world.
Ahhh! Some day! I continue to practice on the simpler songs you have provided. Thank you. May our Lord Jesus continue to bless you.
