  • I'm deeply sadened that this isn't much more popular. Kinda makes me think of Jon Gomm...it's pretty music.

  • This is beautiful. love it!

  • Just because a band might have recorded one or two prog tracks accidently in their career like cliche sell out band Dream Theatre did, does not make them prog.

Technically (and yes this word is a discription not a genre) if a band writes something that cant be ristricted to a genre, its considered prog, how ever nothing states bands who have 1 or two tracks of a ceratin type can define there whole career like this. Example 1. listen to 8 dream theatre tracks... How many of them were prog? %?

  • Gordian knot is prog metal but only bearly. Many members who have featured or played with them come from various bands that all sound completely different.

Most of these bands fall into the prog category because they cannot be put into a genre. they combine many different genres in a single section and blend together themes like jazz musicians would.Only for these reasons would a peice be considered progressive, or (advanced/evolved) for its time.

  • I don't know who started calling progressive stuff "technical". Most music that is called "technical" is progressive so why try to create another subgenre...

  • upload "singing deep mountain" please :D

  • todas las palabras que no te dí hoy... puedes escucharlo como un susurro debajo de estas notas

  • ITS MEH"ALL THATS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • ojo ribet ribet tho mas...sing praktis lah...

  • this is the most beautiful piece one man has ever played

  • From what I can ascertain, this is a live piece by Sean Malone using a Chapman Stick and an Echoplex, which plays loops of recorded segments of the piece on the fly. Look it up folks. Awesome. Details are in the Emergent booklet. This is beautiful.

  • Is this acoustic? I has an amplified guitar in it, but distortion is used judiciously, and the piece has no bass or drums. It certainly isn't metal, but is it acoustic?

  • @jsteele07189 There is a bass. Sean malone is playing on a chapman stick

  • so here's my crack at labeling. Gordian Knot is a prog metal band, but this song is a soft instrumental piece. I don't think this is progressive because it's in common time throughout and doesn't contain really out-of-the-ordinary chords (beautiful though). Gordian Knot is also a "technical" band, but I find it redundant to say that explicitly.

  • Masterpiece

  • Great band,great album,great song.No words,just feelings

  • Beautiful

  • fuck subgenres. just enjoy the music. lol

  • @nightshadetheexorcis nuff said!

  • This is like meditating in hell

  • Two years after I'm listening to this song, and it still makes a crush inside me.

  • this is just progressive music but this is very good

  • I have Malone's CDs. He is a genius on bass and music in general.

  • metal is metal

i remeber not to long ago arguing with some kid about metal subgenres, until i got sick nd tired of mentioning subgenres, from now on, imm jus saying death metal

    subgenres are jus bleh

  • @8thstreetdropsoulja ye y ye but its prog not tech...

i dnt get the joke roflmao

  • @8thstreetdropsoulja i hope so :P

  • @ktyczynski

Stop being such a dickhead to the guy.

  • @8thstreetdropsoulja what's a good tech band? I like prog metal/rock, and I know prog is different from tech, but the two seem to go together (both require skilled musicians). recommendations?

  • @8thstreetdropsoulja You just completely contradicted yourself. One of the biggest fails ever

  • @RiceRacers2010 i realized that...lmfao

  • If youl iked this listen: Fripp & Eno - Evening Star

  • You forgot jazz.

  • True, my bad.

  • Cynic! This album is awesome. It's like the younger brother of Focus.

  • I think Gordian Knot is more like the older brother of cynic. The music is so mature and fantastic in every way

  • such a beautiful song. this should be like top on the music charts, Love it.

  • Easily the most beautiful song I have listened to.

  • Fuck labels, this music just rocks.

  • its experimental metal (rock, instrumental) to be technical

  • Rock? not man

is fuckin Progressive Technical Experimental Metal

  • "Progressive Technical Experimental Metal". What the actual fuck? It's progressive metal, why the fuck do you have to complicate it?

I bet when someone asks you what your favorite genre is you say "Progressive Technical Experimental Metal" to sound clever. Pretentious cunt.

  • oh hu

sorry sorry sorry sir who know all

  • Comment removed

  • @D4athPanda Iz Progressive Technical Ambiente Experimental Core Metal, kkk?!?!? :D

  • @D4athPanda

Believe it or Not there is REALLY a difference between Prog Metal and Tech Metal for example

The Train of Thought CD from Dream Theater is Prog Metal

and the CD s of Spastik Ink and Spiral Architect are Tech Metal

  • Dude, Sean Malone needs more coverage hardly anyone knows who he is! He is one of my favorite bass players and his 'Stick skills are unbelievable!

  • It's sad, really. No store here (NYC) that I've been to sells any Gordian Knot albums...

  • It sounds like 2 guitars. But it's actualy just Sean malone using a Chapman Stick.

  • you are idiot

  • Your argumentation is solid.

    Now GTFO.

  • lol you listen to cradle of filth, gtfo that shit's embarrassing

  • excellent.

fans of this would dig maudlin of the well, methinks. this reminds me of their instrumentals.

  • Bath and body map FTW

  • The ending of "Grace" is a perfect collage where all the layers fit, like pieces of a puzzle. I love listening while I'm about to sleep. Malone, Bruford and Gobel did an unforgetable album, the perfect progressive rock album.

  • Don't forget Reinert! I love all his work with Sean Malone, he is a wondrous drummer!

  • Even though he is nowhere to be found on this track, just a genius with a stick and an echoplex! ;-)

  • beautiful :]

  • O som deles é muito bom!

  • genial

  • awesome

  • great~!!!!
