@cryoes Like I said, Mr. Bryant got off scot-free, and all your pissing and moaning won't change a thing about that. Get over it and deal with it sonny-boy.
Instead of being a sheep like yourself I prefer to voice my opinions and honestly don't really give a fuck if he got away with it that just shows how fucked up the system is.
The fact you support this kind of murder is disgusting and shows your lack of ethical and moral values. People like you disgust me.. you are nothing more then a stupid old man from a retarded uneducated generation that lacked communication technology which bred your ignorance.
unicorn: Actually, my main issue is not the inconclusive evidence claim. My main issue is that it was the attorney general's office (his previous place of work not long before) that came to that conclusion and not a judge. If it was not a politician within the current ruling government, it'd goto trial for man slaughter. But his co-workers decided to toss out the case before any judge could decide whether it should be tossed or not. That is my problem.
those calling for Mr. Bryant's conviction need to give logic a try. the evidence is inconclusive and there is absolutely no justifiable claim for Michael Bryant as the aggessor in this incident. it is a terrible tragedy, no one deserves to die like that. but senseless tragedies happen around the world everyday. the only reason for the ruthless attack on Mr. Bryant's character is because he is more succesful than most. If you were to actually talk to the guy, you wouldn't assume guilt so blindly.
@unicorn308 its not a mater of who he is its the mater of the facts. 1) there was no trial at all so the facts couldn't be debated 2) the Video shows him just basicly runing the guy over after he passed him.
Something no right at AG ministry. Remember prosecution called cyclist attacker in Bryant case? Everything is on video. There is no evidence of the attack. Before the accident he is always at his bike.
As bike gets in front of SAAB, driver suddenly notices it, breaks and car stalls. Pulls forward impatiently. Irritated? Possibly touches rear wheel lightly (Briant's statement), but no damage. Stops. Ramming. Tough to go that far with tight clutch. Breaking with engaged clutch will stall the car immediately. Bryant breaks, but not stalls. He manages his tight clutch well.
Ramming is the first accident. He breaks, immediately reverses, turns wheels, drives forward as cyclist is still getting up. Sheppard is always in front and moves away (left) which indicates he is unstable.
Sensitive Bryant spent no time reflecting. He did not get out to ask if cyclist is OK. He assumes he is OK. He fails to provide insurance information as law requires in collision. He decides he can run from scene. Any reasonable person (never mind a lawyer) knows even low speed collisions can create significant damage including internal damage. All happens in 8 seconds. 3-4 perfect gear switches.
Cyclist jump toward SAAB only after he saw SAAB running from the scene for no reason. He latches as the car almost left the scene. Is the jump unprovoked? No. Natural reaction to stop someone from leaving. A police officer or Good Samaritan could do same seeing all which happened at the scene and be called a hero.
Bryant continues speeding up knowing that cyclist is latched and has no way to escape but dropping to his death. Best hope for survival - holding as strongly as he can hoping driver will stop. Bryant drops the cyclist and again fails to stop. Again fails to stop and remain.
Bryant got creative calling the jump an attack. Possible history of erratic behaviour facilitated this. Everything is on video and happened quickly so the history is irrelevant. It is Bryant's failure to stop and remain in the first accident which leads to the second accident ending in death. Everything is on video.
At the same time all six witnesses who claimed encounters with Sheppard drove away in a safe manner. Just an observation regardless of relevance. No erratic driving like Bryant who is experienced lawyer, politician, and likely trained to handle tough situations.
Strange the charges were dropped and no more charges were laid. Strange they are still not reinstated by the Crown and AG. Willful blindness? Everyone should be concerned.
Bryant is nothing but a man killer protected by the very political system he so faithfully served. What a travesty of justice... I cannot comprehend how Bryant, this human junk, is free after all he did....
If Michael Bryant were a pit bull he would be put down so quickly it would make anyone's head spin. His FAMILY would have had to prove themselves innocent and his family would be subject to warrantless entry. Bryant wanted and put into law that citizens had to PROVE themselves innocent of committing NO crime and the same should have been done to him. HE managed to instill FEAR and get his Liberal buddies to legalize discrimination and profiling based on looks. What a waste of human skin.
Bryant represented our Government as Attorney General of Ontario. During his period the Crown did not proceed on trial against NINE Toronto Police Smugglers until corrupt Judge Nordhiemer dismissed all charged of conspiracy ,smuggling, thefts & tortures of citizens that RCMP with hard work laid charges.
Bryant could pay just $50 to biker & end it. But he drove 100 meters on wrong side of the road over the CURB, hit him to mailbox then ran over him. Because KILLERS & PSYCHOS are ruling!
It doesn't appear that Bryant spent any time apologizing and telling the cyclist how sorry he was. You could say he was being attacked, sure. But Bryant is a TRAINED BOXER!! If he couldn't defend himself against a "drunk meth head" as this cyclist is being called, even sitting in a car, I'd be incredibly surprised. Block the punches while you're saying sorry. Don't kill the guy. ... Michael overreacted. Whatever. He won't go to jail, but he'll live with his guilt for the rest of his life.
Both times I was hit, the drivers apologized profusely, and after about 10 seconds of panic and anger I apologized for my outburst, picked up my bike and that was it. A couple of times, drivers have swerved towards me for whatever reason, and it was absolutely intentional. I don't know why, I'm not an aggressive or irresponsible rider. The hitting of this cyclist looks intentional. Even if it wasn't, it LOOKS intentional.
I apologize for my previous sarcasm, it may have been lost on some. This case still bugs me, particularly now that Bryant is getting press, and not necessarily negative press, in a recent issue of Toronto Life. I'm a cyclist in Toronto about 5% of the time. I live 18km from my office downtown, so I'm a driver and motorcyclist primarily. But I've ridden for the last 12 years. I've been hit twice, not badly and not intentionally. But I can assure you when you get hit by a car, you will get mad.
Im sure they were in a confrontation and the cyclist is accountable for his part in that .
Then , Mr Bryant clearly runs him over . He was in control of that car and caused the death . If that were Mr. Bryants child crushed on the road I wonder what the verdict would be ? Justice ? ya right .
More importantly, you can't simply pick a fight with everyone that cuts you off on the road - traffic wouldn't move because of all the melee. Sheppard had rage issues and was drunk, both facts that are well-supported. This doesn't mean he should have died, but the fact is that he played a direct role in his own death with the decisions he made, starting with the decision to grab the car in motion.
@AffableClam A guy rams the back of your bicycle, throwing you to the ground, you bet you're going to be pretty mad. Whether or not there were words exchange prior, and the body language in the video clips above doesn't show them even acknowledging each other until after Bryant hits the bicycle. Plus, for a drunk guy, Sheppard had good co-ordination on the cycle when he jockeyed into position, then when he immediately got up and ran. A drunk person could not do that. Cold-blooded murder. :(
This video shows one part of the incident. The eyewitnesses reported a longer confrontation that included Sheppard grabbing Bryant's head, the steering wheel, etc. This is a tragedy for Mr. Sheppard but this one-sided video and all the commenters that support Sheppard just because Bryant is a lawyer are skewing the facts. If Bryant were poor and the same events occured, what would you be saying? It's Sheppard who CHOSE to grab a moving car. The rich guy/poor guy angle is just stupid.
@AffableClam The eyewitness information mentioning that was never tested in a court of law. Bryant hired a PR company named Navigator. We don't know what tactics they use to change the perception of their client in the media, but it wouldn't surprise me if they plant false eyewitness reports in the media. The police were asked about those supposed reports a month or so after they hit the media, and they denied anyone coming forward with such info.
I just had another great idea...I'm going onto the sidewalk right now to find a "Down and Outer" - or just someone that's drunk, unemployed and preferably from a broken home. I'll pistol-whip him. If he gets mad and comes at me, then I'll shoot him in the face. I'll make sure there are witnesses and video cameras all around. I'll then go a few blocks away, phone the cops and say I was attacked. I guarantee there won't be any charges, because the Scumbag totally deserved to be shot in the face.
This is awesome. As a wealthy lawyer from a privileged background, it's great to know that I can ram a cyclist with my car, then murder him when he gets mad at me for it. Provided he's a bit of a Douche (which most of them are, let's face it!). The best part is, I won't spend an hour in jail because the crown will throw away the charges! And the murder is on VIDEO!! HAHA!! I Love it. My PR company will make sure the media paints ME as the victim, and I'll live happily ever after. I love Canada.
GRRH! this fucking youtube google link keeps on coming up! f.u.
anyhow, regarding the video heck from what my eyes tell me, bryant is driving the car right the biker? This guy got special treatment from day one. Heck, I don't remember having the guard bring me a nice clean suit before I saw the judge.wtf.
WHY did he ride up and stop in front of a car and not move??? if a car did that to a cyclist gee i wonder what would happen???? get a life hypocrites this is what happens when you think you own the road and dont know the rules!!!! you cyclists ruin it for all of us!! allah u akbah
@ISLAMICcycling Trolling is for 31 year old canadian males who work low wages, have no wife, play video games, and spend their time being retards on the internet and looking at child porn. You sir, need a life.
Read the executive summary of the prosecution, it reads like the defense wrote the whole thing. They even refer to the initial hit and run, but make excuses saying Sheppard was not hurt because he stood up so soon. I guess they never heard of adrenaline. Witnesses also said they saw the car run over Sheppard, but the crown insists he banged his head on a hydrant and hit his head on the curb. The whole thing is a white wash. The PDF of this summary is on the CBC website (I can't link it here)
@phillydisco After re-reading the summary, I didn't notice it before, but now I realize that Richard Peck was intent on misleading the public with the way he presented the speeds that the vehicle traveled. He said witnesses reported 60-100km/h speeds, but the experts determined it was an average of 34km/h. That's average, meaning including 0km/h. If Bryant went as fast as 78km/h, then the average between 0 and 78 is 34km/h.But the summary makes it sound like Bryant never broke the speed limit
Yeah I read that and the tone of the writing was so biased in favour of Bryant it wasn't funny. Pretty disgusting how the media tried to control public opinion by demonizing Sheppard and praising Bryant as if he was some dewy-eyed innocent.
For those that think Bryant's a piece of shit (something I'd agree with) you need to admit that it is over. New charges will not be brought and nor will a civil case. The most you can hope for is that Bryant has nightmares and any success he will have in private life will pale in comparison for him to public life which gave him the spotlight his ego needed. That is now gone. Good riddance.
As MPP Peter Kormos said by not sending this to trial some will think Bryant was not found innocent. It wouldn't be the first time Kormos was right. Still Bryant's career in politics is now over. He will never be Premier nor Prime Minister and we can all thank our lucky stars for that. Well I guess Bryant won't but I don't really care about his feeling in either case.
The press claim that the car was stalled twice before Sheppard was hit. Seems though that Bryant's driving skills got better immediatly AFTER he hit him as he changes gears and smoothly backs up and then pulls forward, another gear change and takes off. Not bad for a guy that couldn't drive under pressure mere seconds earlier.
" YOU CAN ALL GO FUCK YOURSELVES TO HELL FOR DOUGHTING BRYANT'S INNOCENCE. " ---- Innocence? Did Peck say anything about Innocence? No. Low prospect of conviction was why charges were dropped and to understand what that means consider the Jaffer case. A former MP busted with cocaine in the car and charges were dropped citing the same reason.
You guys are all fucked, I only wish that sweetheart Darcy decided to mess with me while driving my 2008 f350 truck and not some skinny politico in a convertible. Then there would have been a good story in the press about me throwing his half beaten ass into the bed of my truck ,and he never to be seen again.
From the Peck report "When the vehicle stopped, Mr. Sheppard fell off the hood and then stood up within about 2 seconds. He was clearly not seriously injured at that time. Mr. Bryant reversed the vehicle and then proceeded forward, turning to manoeuvre around the bicycle."
This describes the hit and run people on this page have been claiming all along.
Incidentally, did they ever find any of Sheppard’s fingerprints on the steering wheel? I didn’t think so.
The message seems to be that if you have a bad reputation don’t expect protection from the law. Reminds me of the days when prostitutes could be murdered with little public outcry since after all they were asking for it.
@rationibus Why didn't they also question Bryant's actions after leaving the second accident scene? He parked his car around the corner at the hotel, and let off his passenger. The police never found that peculiar at all, but had a regular citizen done that, they could have been charged with obstruction of justice because the witness left, and they may have left with incriminating evidence. Add to that the person did not match the description of his wife, and you have possible perjury.
Instead we get a special prosecutor who appears to be pleading for the defence. Peck and Heinen did a good job of vilifying the guy who got killed. We have to take their word on that since none of these assertions were tested at trial. So Sheppard was a bad guy with a history of street altercations, but what exactly was he supposed to have done at the point Bryant is attempting to speed away after the initial smack-down?
@rationibus Exactly. None of the alleged witnesses who bad mouthed Sheppard were ever tested in a court setting for their reliability. They could have been making it up. And those photos Peck entered, while they may look damning, it's hard to tell if they were Sheppard, and what did that have to do with the incident of the night of his death? If he had a history of violence, then why didn't the police hold him until he sobered up?His physical speed in the vids indicate he was not drunk.
@phillydisco Lots of good questions Philly. Meanwhile they have managed to shift the focus away from Bryant onto Sheppard full bore. The whole thing makes me sick.
I see now why, in the immediate aftermath of the incident, lawyers commenting on the case made no reference to the initial ramming of the cyclist by the car. They were waiting to hear what lie Bryant's team would come up with to explain it. So he popped the clutch and this, we are to believe, threw Sheppard onto the hood.
Why was this flimsy excuse not subjected to rigorous cross-examination on the stand?
We all know Bryant deliberately killed the guy. We also know it's a buddy system world and money talks. I don't need a self-righteous, blabber mouth to tell me that. Get off your god damn high horse.
I concur with 'phillydisco' on this matter. But this is the way of the world. Everything gets interpreted according to the pecking order. The Bryant case is just a classic and very blatant example of that. I blame Michael Bryant for the death of Mr. Sheppard, but not for protecting himself from prosecution. It's like a bad call in Hockey. You accept it and move on, because that's the way the game is played.
@GeneralParadigm This wasn't a case of him not being found guilty or innocent, the Crown just dropped the case. But if they were really interested in justice, they would have pursued the matter thoroughly. There's still the matter of why the eyewitnesses said Bryant was in the car with a blonde person. I think they said woman, but it was night, so it could have been a man in drag, a teen, anyone. But it wasn't his wife, unless she played dress up that night.
@MJPKENT I think the problem is that Bryant spend a lot of money on the PR firm Navigator. They've got nothing good to show for Bryant. Where are the stories about him caring for people, helping orphans, or old ladies crossing the street? Nothing. Zilch. So the next best tactic for Navigator was to discredit the victim, Sheppard. Plant stories about his past behavior in the media, make him look like he 'deserved it'.Nothing changes the fact that a car was used as a battering ram on a cyclist.
@agnesed First video ends where the second video begins. It would have been nice if the media had released the footage from beginning to end. HonestEdits compiled his video from what was made available. They also didn't show the footage of the car traveling down the wrong side of the rode dragging then running over Sheppard.
So....everyone's getting riled up about extremely blurry footage in which you can barely even see the shapes of the black figure in the "Construction" sign. My goodness, we must believe what we perceive to read from these blobs!
@MJPKENT He wasn't even touching the car. If he was being confrontational with Bryant or initiated an attack, you would have seen the bicycle stop right beside the driver, or maybe stop at an angle to the car. Sheppard was facing forward the whole time until Bryant moved his car onto his bike's rear tire. Then Bryant pushed him to the ground with the car so he could drive around the fallen cyclist.Clearly the people involved in this case don't care if people use their vehicles to push people.
@MJPKENT well hopefully his death serve as a lesson to irritating crust punks everywhere: don't tango with 2 tonnes of metal and engine. this is coming from a cyclist.
oh, and since you don't understand simple law, to be charged with murder, they have to prove that you have intent to kill. TRY AGAIN DUMMY.
@wayfarin The cyclist was minding his own business. If Bryant gets his feelings hurt whenever someone moves in front of him, and then decides to use his vehicle as a ram, then that's a dangerous driver.
By the way Webel next time your on one of your walks through the forest trespassing on a citizen's private property take a rifle along with the camera.
Hate to see one of those nasty old bears get food poisoning from chewing on your nasty ass.
ps ..Sheppard was just and accident waiting to happen. He succeded
@winchester4440 I have a 12 guage. I have the legal right of access to any of my mining claims. Anyone who interferes with me deals with the OPP and MNR.
Screw the bears. I'm the meanest fucker in the bush.
@winchester4440 Morons like you really have trouble with letting your imaginations run wild. What else can you tell me about myself, since you're such a fucking authority? The gov't realizes I'm a terribly honest individual with a highly refined and developed sense of truth, justice, and clear-thinking.
Based on what has been reported in the papers and what we see on video there are two possibilities: either Bryant was panic stricken, fearing for his life, or an angry man inflamed with road rage. All because some guy on a bike passed him and yelled at him.
We should have known something was not right with the case when it was the prosecutor who brought photographs allegedly showing Sheppard involved with a motorist. We don't know if that's really him in the pictures, or what the circumstances were. It sounds like everyone, the prosecution and the defense, were more interested in tearing down Sheppard.
@phillydisco Yeah, it's been all about Sheppard. Bryant seems to have had two legal teams on his side. The strange thing to me is that while Bryant was ramming his car into Sheppard and then attempting to escape (not denied but only explained as panic and fear according to Peck) all Sheppard had allegedly done was scream and yell.
@rationibus It's insane. It's like they didn't even bother watching the videos. They're just relying on hearsay from possibly unreliable witnesses, like the one who claimed that Sheppard was wielding a weapon, or had his hand on the steering wheel. If there was a trial, we'd find out if those witnesses were reliable.
I've also read claims that Sheppard was throwing cones into traffic at Yonge & Bloor that night. Where's the video footage of that? Lots of BS in the media.
@FeldwebelWolfenstool That's all I've ever heard. Is that it was Bryant doing all the yelling and screaming from his car. Then you look at his face when he's in the back of the cruiser, you can see how irritated he was. He wasn't sad he just killed a human being.
For you dipshit facist cyclists, here's a little history on Darcy. According to the CBC News, he's been seen many times picking on drivers with raging arguments. He caused damage, and even public mischief. YOU CAN ALL GO FUCK YOURSELVES TO HELL FOR DOUGHTING BRYANT'S INNOCENCE.
I'm certainly glad they got this case right. There are alot of arrogant and obnoxious cyclists in the city that are just looking for trouble. Well, He got it...
Cyclists need to obey the rules as they apply to them...unfortunately most don't. Hopefully this fool's mistake will begin a change of attitude for Toronto cyclists...based on the comments probably not. Grow up.
@bollockchops81 We're assuming Sheppard had the option to let go. If his hand was jammed, then he would be unable to let go. And letting go when a car is traveling in excess of 50 km/h is not a smart move. The point is that Bryant should not have accelerated, and then deliberately directed his vehicle onto the sidewalk in an attempt to wipe off Sheppard.
I'm certainly glad they got this case right. There are alot of arrogant and obnoxious cyclists in the city that are just looking for trouble. Well, He got it...
Cyclists need to obey the rules as they apply to them...unfortunately most don't. Hopefully this fool's mistake will begin a change of attitude for Toronto cyclists.
@TSM8088 For every obnoxious cyclist there must be at last a hundred arrogant and obnoxious drivers. Even then I wouldn't argue that they should be killed.
@TSM8088 he stupid dipshit, drivers break more rules every day than cyclist combined, and they are driving heavy vehciles capable of killing anybody. And they do kill. So shut the fuck up will you.
@TSM8088 I agree that there are quite a few bad cyclists out there. The difference between a bad cyclist and a bad driver - 2 tons. Bad drivers are lethal. Bad cyclists might hurt a pedestrian, but they don't cause the injuries a bad driver causes.
I am more than happy to stay off the roads as a cyclist or a pedestrian if they built protected areas so that crazy drivers don't start thinking they're entitled to drive in those areas. There are way more bad drivers than bad cyclists.
I'm still convinced Bryant hit the cyclist deliberately. I drive a standard. I know how a car can lurch and stall. Not enough force to toss a guy up onto the hood. The fact that Bryant tried to flee the scene doesn't seem to register with the Crown. Clear case of hit and run in my view.
But I can see how there was no chance of a conviction. The evidence is that Sheppard was drunk and belligerent. Easy to convince a judge or jury that Bryant acted out of fear. Doesn't convince me though.
@rationibus The Crown was probably convinced to not let this thing go to trial. I have a feeling that maybe if it did go to trial, Bryant's past would have been dug up. He might have even been found guilty or taken a plea bargain. By not bringing it to trial, Bryant stays looking like the victim, and his PR firm is free to spread lies in the media about Sheppard. Like the nonsense about Sheppard previously harassing drivers. All hearsay.
@wayfarin That's odd, because there appears to be video footage of the altercation. I guess that's considered scant because Bryant isn't standing up in it saying 'hey, I'm Michael Bryant driving this car!'
Some surly drunk bothering you? Well, just whack the fucker. Whack him fucking dead in fucking-stead. Hey, IT'S NOW THE LAW! Just run right over them with a fucking semi, call it Self-defense.
Good call on the Crown's part. It's plain to see from the video Sheppard's foolish move line jumping set the up coming events in motion. The events to follow were all caused by an arrogant no hoper
@winchester4440 Wrong attitude. Let's say Sheppard was mentally ill, and he was poor, and couldn't afford proper medication all the time. Would he deserve to die because he's had a few alleged outbursts in the past? Did Bryant know that Sheppard was a nutjob before he rammed him with his car? Sheppard barely takes two or three steps before Bryant is racing down Bloor. This wasn't self defense, this was road rage. A driver didn't like a cyclist moving in front.
The media is still tearing Sheppard through the mud. Now they're saying that in earlier incidents, Sheppard terrorized other motorists including a 70 year old woman. It sounds like the PR firm is still working overtime.
I think if a guy ran me down with his car, I'd be pretty mad. So Darcy wasn't allowed to be even a little mad at Bryant?
@phillydisco your grasping at straws and I am not sure why, he controlled his bike well? holy jesus, trouble is he wasnt very used to controlling hIMSELF!! he passed and cut infront of Bryant, he broke the law right there, like drunk people do, because their JUDGEMENT is impaired. People often get hurt or killed when their judgement is imparied. You dont need a pr firm to drag this guy through the mud, the truth comes out philly , deal with it.
@cfqpa Watch the video. Then watch videos of people trying to ride a bike while inebriated. You need to have a proper sense of balance to ride a bike. That's why they have you walk a line and touch your nose and all that nonsense to test your motor skills when you're suspected of being DUI.
He did not break a law moving into position. The bike lane was gone, so was the curb lane. That was the only lane and he moved to the front. Not exactly a reason to be murdered.
darcy was a drunk beligerent asshole that day and for a long time leading up to this
that doesnt mean he should lose his life no but Bryan had no choice in the matter, he was protecting the life of his wife and his own from a drunk, drugged, criminal lunatic, for all he knew this guy was going to kill him. If Bryant just sat there, then what? tell me, how would this read then..?? seen the pics of darcy inside another guys bmw?
@cfqpa For a drunk guy, he sure controlled his bike well. Just watch the video. He also got up quite fast. I don't know how many drunk people are able to move with lightening fast speed. Alcohol has the opposite effect.
Also, how do we know Bryant wasn't drunk? Oh yeah, the police didn't test him.
I've just watched this video several times in a row on this, the day that Bryant's charges have all been dropped. Sheppard pulls up right in front of the car and perhaps refuses to move when the light goes green or hasn't noticed that it's a green. He's either not noticed or is being a deliberate asshole. The car shoves his bike forward then backs up so that Bryant can drive around him. This makes Bryant the second asshole in the equation, deliberately using his car as a weapon!
@jordanthecat To continue what I was saying because I ran out of space: using one's car as a weapon, even against someone who may or may not be behaving like an asshole, is illegal. Or at least I thought it was until today.
As much as I agree with other commenters that the courier, Sheppard, was a POS scumball - I can't help but wonder what the outcome would have been should any of us ordinary "unwashed" been involved in a similar incident of accidental death.
Two assholes crossed paths, though; no question about that.
Sheppard had a blood/alcohol reading at .183, more than twice the legal limit. There were at least six previous altercations involving Sheppard and motorists who called police... "a pattern of escalating behaviour with motorists leading to the fateful incident."
Sheppard is definitely a candidate for a Darwin Award which salutes the improvement of the human genome by honoring those who accidentally remove themselves from it.
@amy930 Are these accompanied by police reports, or is this all hearsay? Just because it's put in the media doesn't mean some guy paid by Bryant isn't planting them as news.
People get angry. But Darcy did NOT kill someone. Nor did he physically harm anyone, either before, or in this case. Bryant, on the other hand, took a life. And he drove away from the scene of TWO accidents, yet was not charged with failing to remain. Nor was a breathalyzer administered. If that's not fishy, then...
@phillydisco he did too physically harm people, are you blind or stupid or what? Those people, including Bryant had the sense and fear enough to GET AWAY from the maniac or else we would be talking about how they got harmed as you say maybe killed, seriously are you dumb? in denial? both?
@cfqpa Did he now? And you know this because you dug up all of his police records?
Even if those alleged altercations were true, and I think they are spin from Bryant's PR firm, they would not be admissible in court. That had no bearing on the incident of that evening that cost Sheppard's life. We will never know if Bryant was intoxicated because the police gave him special treatment.
@phillydisco of course they are admissable you retard, why do you think they didnt even go to a prelim? No bearing, ok thats settled then, you really are dumb.
hahaha. I take it you arent applying to law school anytime soon, or any job soon
@cfqpa No they aren't. They have no bearing on why Bryant a man on a bicycle, because Bryant would not have known anything about Sheppard's past.
I don't know anyone who would NOT be angry if someone hit them with their car. And then the car proceeded to speed off to evade the police. The only person acting like a man in rage and doing the yelling was the driver of the car. Witnesses have said that. The guy in the car was yelling at the guy hanging. Just watch that video, you'll see.
@phillydisco haha Ok there boss , you win, your red herrings about boxing and blonde hair would have put Bryant away for a very long time, where he could sit and think hard how it doesnt pay to have be a success, have a happy married life and wife, and drive with the top down at night in toronto to celebrate that anywhere near any top of the line bike couriers.
I see from the story in the Toronto Star, Bryant is claiming his car stalled and when he tried to restart it, the car lurched forward throwing Sheppard up onto the hood.
Having driven a standard all my driving life it is very possible if driven poorly for the car to jump that distance, especially if he was attempting to apply gas and the car jumped up RPM and then stalled out.
@rationibus Nope. For someone whose car lurched forward, he sure was in a hurry to leave the scene of the accident. It wasn't like there was any time to have a conversation either. Mr Bryant is a trained boxer, and if he felt his passenger's life was in danger (a BLONDE woman, remember) he drove like he didn't care.
@phillydisco I have read this drivel before, hes a boxer, so he should call up don king to meet him at the skydome where he can get his old gloves on and challenge darcy to a boxing match, settling Darcys jealousys and tragic upbringing that way in the ring. Oh and yeah short of this scenario he was trying to get away from a looney and as soon as he saw the coast was clear , that he and his wife were safe from some deranged maniac, he CALLED 911,
@cfqpa My point is that if he was a boxer, and not intoxicated, he would have the advantage on an allegedly drunken individual.
I guess you haven't bother watching the video because you obviously don't see the car running down the bike. I hope that someone doesn't run your down off your bike, or run you down while you're on the street, then says that it was your fault because you have a history of anger issues. Your postings seem to indicate it.
@phillydisco I watched a guy on a bike purposley cut off a guy in a nice convertable with his wife right when he was about to move forward, just like everyone else watched. I watched sheppard break the law and then I watched him throw his bag at the car and try to jump into the window, just like he did days before on the guys bmw, hangin off the side with his arms on the wheel and assaulting and terrifying the driver.
@cfqpa You've already made a wrong assumption. You say the guy was with his 'wife'. That was never proven in court. You think I'm kidding around. The eyewitnesses to the accident said a blonde woman was a passenger, and she was let off at the Hyatt. Bryant's wife is a brunette.
You also failed to see the car push the bicycle with the rider on it several feet., then the car immediately backs up, then speeds around the cyclist.
There is no image of him hanging on,so you're obviously not serious.
@phillydisco No your right Im not serious and neither was that prosecutor they got from Vancouver who reviewed everything and came to the same conclusion and without the need for a prelim even. he was just joking around, hes a mouth clown and is preparing the real case as we speak, should hear from him soon as to the real fate that awaits the evil Michael Bryant
@cfqpa and do you realize how unreliable eyewitness accounts about visual and aural details are? remember when the cops were stopping cream camero's all over the country when they were told thats what bernardo was driving? it was a gold nissan. Clearly its your anger and jealousy that has you so blind to facts. Tellin ya, it gets one no where, just ask Darcy, there are no winners in this ya idiot
Another classic case of a fucking politician protected by the two-tiered system. At least we can rest assured that we are in the late period of the decline of the Western empires, and that social justice might mean something again someday, if only for our kids.
If Bryant is not convicted of the criminal charges the Sheppard family should sue. In a civil trial the burden of proof is "on a balance of probalities". Bryant wouldn't stand a chance. Not equal to a criminal conviction but some comfort at least.
@IceSurfbumb People who commit murder with a vehicle get a lighter sentence, which I've never understood. You drive drunk, and you kill someone, that's should be treated as second degree murder because nobody forced you to drink and get in the car.
Thanks for the great work. We are getting a totally different version of the events from the media. Let's hope money and influence doesn't triumph once again.
Rahim Jaffer gets only a $500 fine, the crooked crony judge dropped the charges of coke possession and DUI. ALLAH BE PRAISED FOR OUR TWO-TIERED LEGAL SYSTEM!!!
I guess this is how they're greasing us all up, to let murderer Bryant walk free. Maybe he'll wind up sueing the taxpayer, too...for all his sleepless nights.
Bryant was celebrating before the incident. He was likely drinking. He was not given a breathalyzer. The cops did not do their jobs. Law for rich, law for poor. He is getting away with murder.
I saw a short blurb on one of the news websites that Bryant was supposed to be in court today. I don't know if this was a delay of the January court session he was supposed to have, or another follow-up. Still no information on when a trial will take place.
I had no respect (none) for what the Ontario Liberal are doing to us now I have even less (if that's possible). lawyers protecting lawyers... ever wonder why he was treated like royalty by the Police? because the Ontario Liberals protected police officers from Ombudsman oversight against all public recommendations in the amendments to the Police Services Act. Liberals do NO support oversight and protecting citizens.
Here is some background information that hasn't been brought up as far as I know. This may or may not be relevant but may explain some of the sphincter tightening by media and politicians. This from a reliable source. "Michael Bryant was seen at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club on the afternoon of the incident and was in the company of many prominent politicians including Dalton McGuinty. If this is true they could all be called as witnesses about the event leading up to the tragedy"
If Establishment Tapeworm Bryant gets off, I'm going to start riding my bike, all the time now, down the middle of the main drag. It's a cyclist's right, isn't it? Cyclists should take to the streets, en masse.
honestedits is right. We've got to stay on the high road. I've noticed in fact that the Bryant camp seems to be a repository for the cold blooded and arrogant. They are probably best ignored.
So for all you goofs that are disrespecting Darcy, you all should all smarten the fuck up.. If that was someone in your family and someone said shitty little rude comments about them you'd be pissed off... Darcy was my cousin and if it was his fault there is no reason he had to be killed...
It wasn't your cousin's fault. Even if he and Bryant exchanged angry words (not proven) that doesn't give Bryant the right to smack him down with his car.
I see Bryant has a new job at Ogilvie Renault. Good to know he'll be earning money and not have to turn to a life of crime.
In the videos you see my cousin smack the hood of Bryants car, so Bryant pulled up behind him and hit his back tire knocking him off the bike, so im sure my cousin got up and grabbed the car thinking this goof wouldn't take off with him hanging onto the car,any smart person would stop... If Bryant felt he was scared for his life he shouldnt have knocked Darcy off his bike provoking the situation...
If Bryants so great to you people then he would have let it go and drove off being the bigger person but no he decided to be immature about the whole situation, it's not like Darcy vandalized his vehicle.. I could see if the car was damaged then yes Bryant could have confronted Darcy without killing him in the process... All you disrespectedful people can rot in hell for your asshole remarks it all comes down to if it was Darcy's fault he still did not deserve to die...
He wasn't a junkie or a crackhead like everyone claims the people assuming that shit didn't even know him so they have no room what so ever to say anything about him... So what if he had warrents tons of people have warrents but you dont hear people saying everyone with warrents should be killed from a careless and immature act like this... This guy was hard working and was doing what he had to do to support his family...
Everyone looks into the bad shit from this situation, and it's sick people cant open there eyes and see that Bryant is guilty... The Toronto police are part of the problem why didn't they give him a ride to where he needed to go if he was such a problem?? and if your going to say Darcy didnt want the ride, they could have arrested him and put him in jail if that was the case it's not like there trained to be a bunch of pussies about taking people in,
and aren't they supposed to put you in jail for druck in public?? they are trained to serve and protect supposidly and if they felt he was a problem then they should have given him a ride..... all I have left to say now is thanks to all the people that have been supportive on Darcy's side I am glad we have people that aren't dicks... So thanks again for the support... As for the assholes out there that are dumb and cold hearted fuck you all....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Im not saying bryant is guilty and im not saying hes not but come onnnn. Look at this tape, this evidence is hardly substantial if at all. And he could have easily been provoked, if we could see what had happened before this case could turn in a entire different direction.
Like it or not, bottom line, the cyclist is dead and Mr. Bryant got off scot-free without any charges...and rightly so.
The cyclist was an aggressive idiot, he had a history of being an aggressive idiot, and now he's dead and won't be an aggressive idiot anymore.
One less aggressive idiot on the road, in my opinion.

unicorn: Actually, my main issue is not the inconclusive evidence claim. That is my problem.
strbjun 10 months ago
those calling for Mr. If you were to actually talk to the guy, you wouldn't assume guilt so blindly.
unicorn308 10 months ago
@unicorn308 its not a mater of who he is its the mater of the facts. 1) there was no trial at all so the facts couldn't be debated 2) the Video shows him just basicly runing the guy over after he passed him.

Something no right at AG ministry. Remember prosecution called cyclist attacker in Bryant case? Everything is on video. There is no evidence of the attack. Before the accident he is always at his bike.
adagmez 1 year ago
As bike gets in front of SAAB, driver suddenly notices it, breaks and car stalls. Pulls forward impatiently. Irritated? Possibly touches rear wheel lightly (Briant's statement), but no damage. Stops. Ramming. Tough to go that far with tight clutch. Breaking with engaged clutch will stall the car immediately. Bryant breaks, but not stalls. He manages his tight clutch well.
adagmez 1 year ago
Ramming is the first accident. He breaks, immediately reverses, turns wheels, drives forward as cyclist is still getting up. Sheppard is always in front and moves away (left) which indicates he is unstable.
adagmez 1 year ago
Sensitive Bryant spent no time reflecting. He did not get out to ask if cyclist is OK. He assumes he is OK. He fails to provide insurance information as law requires in collision. He decides he can run from scene. Any reasonable person (never mind a lawyer) knows even low speed collisions can create significant damage including internal damage. All happens in 8 seconds. 3-4 perfect gear switches.
adagmez 1 year ago
Cyclist jump toward SAAB only after he saw SAAB running from the scene for no reason. He latches as the car almost left the scene. Is the jump unprovoked? No. Natural reaction to stop someone from leaving. A police officer or Good Samaritan could do same seeing all which happened at the scene and be called a hero.
adagmez 1 year ago
Bryant continues speeding up knowing that cyclist is latched and has no way to escape but dropping to his death. Best hope for survival - holding as strongly as he can hoping driver will stop. Bryant drops the cyclist and again fails to stop. Again fails to stop and remain.
adagmez 1 year ago
Bryant got creative calling the jump an attack. Possible history of erratic behaviour facilitated this. Everything is on video and happened quickly so the history is irrelevant. It is Bryant's failure to stop and remain in the first accident which leads to the second accident ending in death. Everything is on video.
adagmez 1 year ago
At the same time all six witnesses who claimed encounters with Sheppard drove away in a safe manner. Just an observation regardless of relevance. No erratic driving like Bryant who is experienced lawyer, politician, and likely trained to handle tough situations.
Strange the charges were dropped and no more charges were laid. Strange they are still not reinstated by the Crown and AG. Willful blindness? Everyone should be concerned.

MajorNourhaghighi 1 year ago
It doesn't appear that Bryant spent any time apologizing and telling the cyclist how sorry he was. You could say he was being attacked, sure. But Bryant is a TRAINED BOXER!! If he couldn't defend himself against a "drunk meth head" as this cyclist is being called, even sitting in a car, I'd be incredibly surprised. Block the punches while you're saying sorry. Don't kill the guy. ... Michael overreacted. Whatever. He won't go to jail, but he'll live with his guilt for the rest of his life.
MichaelBryantFan 1 year ago
Both times I was hit, the drivers apologized profusely, and after about 10 seconds of panic and anger I apologized for my outburst, picked up my bike and that was it. A couple of times, drivers have swerved towards me for whatever reason, and it was absolutely intentional. I don't know why, I'm not an aggressive or irresponsible rider. The hitting of this cyclist looks intentional. Even if it wasn't, it LOOKS intentional.
MichaelBryantFan 1 year ago
I apologize for my previous sarcasm, it may have been lost on some. This case still bugs me, particularly now that Bryant is getting press, and not necessarily negative press, in a recent issue of Toronto Life. I'm a cyclist in Toronto about 5% of the time. I live 18km from my office downtown, so I'm a driver and motorcyclist primarily. But I've ridden for the last 12 years. I've been hit twice, not badly and not intentionally. But I can assure you when you get hit by a car, you will get mad.
MichaelBryantFan 1 year ago
Im sure they were in a confrontation and the cyclist is accountable for his part in that .
Then , Mr Bryant clearly runs him over . He was in control of that car and caused the death . If that were Mr. Bryants child crushed on the road I wonder what the verdict would be ? Justice ? ya right .
witchever99 1 year ago
More importantly, you can't simply pick a fight with everyone that cuts you off on the road - traffic wouldn't move because of all the melee. Sheppard had rage issues and was drunk, both facts that are well-supported. This doesn't mean he should have died, but the fact is that he played a direct role in his own death with the decisions he made, starting with the decision to grab the car in motion.
AffableClam 1 year ago
@AffableClam A guy rams the back of your bicycle, throwing you to the ground, you bet you're going to be pretty mad. Whether or not there were words exchange prior, and the body language in the video clips above doesn't show them even acknowledging each other until after Bryant hits the bicycle. Plus, for a drunk guy, Sheppard had good co-ordination on the cycle when he jockeyed into position, then when he immediately got up and ran. A drunk person could not do that. Cold-blooded murder. :(
phillydisco 1 year ago
This video shows one part of the incident. The eyewitnesses reported a longer confrontation that included Sheppard grabbing Bryant's head, the steering wheel, etc. This is a tragedy for Mr. Sheppard but this one-sided video and all the commenters that support Sheppard just because Bryant is a lawyer are skewing the facts. If Bryant were poor and the same events occured, what would you be saying? It's Sheppard who CHOSE to grab a moving car. The rich guy/poor guy angle is just stupid.
AffableClam 1 year ago
@AffableClam The eyewitness information mentioning that was never tested in a court of law. Bryant hired a PR company named Navigator. We don't know what tactics they use to change the perception of their client in the media, but it wouldn't surprise me if they plant false eyewitness reports in the media. The police were asked about those supposed reports a month or so after they hit the media, and they denied anyone coming forward with such info.
Sheppard was murdered by a road rager.
phillydisco 1 year ago

HAHA!! I Love it. My PR company will make sure the media paints ME as the victim, and I'll live happily ever after. I love Canada.

The PDF of this summary is on the CBC website (I can't link it here)
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco The prosecution also didn't find anything wrong with Bryant's passenger running off before the police arrived.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco After re-reading the summary, I didn't notice it before, but now I realize that Richard Peck was intent on misleading the public with the way he presented the speeds that the vehicle traveled. He said witnesses reported 60-100km/h speeds, but the experts determined it was an average of 34km/h. That's average, meaning including 0km/h. If Bryant went as fast as 78km/h, then the average between 0 and 78 is 34km/h.But the summary makes it sound like Bryant never broke the speed limit
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco Correction, 34 is the average of 0 and 68.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco
Yeah I read that and the tone of the writing was so biased in favour of Bryant it wasn't funny. Pretty disgusting how the media tried to control public opinion by demonizing Sheppard and praising Bryant as if he was some dewy-eyed innocent.
scotscar 1 year ago 2
For those that think Bryant's a piece of shit (something I'd agree with) you need to admit that it is over. New charges will not be brought and nor will a civil case. The most you can hope for is that Bryant has nightmares and any success he will have in private life will pale in comparison for him to public life which gave him the spotlight his ego needed. That is now gone. Good riddance.
liberalrefugee 1 year ago
As MPP Peter Kormos said by not sending this to trial some will think Bryant was not found innocent. It wouldn't be the first time Kormos was right. Still Bryant's career in politics is now over. He will never be Premier nor Prime Minister and we can all thank our lucky stars for that. Well I guess Bryant won't but I don't really care about his feeling in either case.
liberalrefugee 1 year ago
The press claim that the car was stalled twice before Sheppard was hit. Seems though that Bryant's driving skills got better immediatly AFTER he hit him as he changes gears and smoothly backs up and then pulls forward, another gear change and takes off. Not bad for a guy that couldn't drive under pressure mere seconds earlier.
liberalrefugee 1 year ago
" YOU CAN ALL GO FUCK YOURSELVES TO HELL FOR DOUGHTING BRYANT'S INNOCENCE. " ---- Innocence? Did Peck say anything about Innocence? No. Low prospect of conviction was why charges were dropped and to understand what that means consider the Jaffer case. A former MP busted with cocaine in the car and charges were dropped citing the same reason.

This describes the hit and run people on this page have been claiming all along.
rationibus 1 year ago
@rationibus And yet he was not charged with that. It makes you wonder why.
phillydisco 1 year ago
Incidentally, did they ever find any of Sheppard’s fingerprints on the steering wheel? I didn’t think so.
The message seems to be that if you have a bad reputation don’t expect protection from the law. Reminds me of the days when prostitutes could be murdered with little public outcry since after all they were asking for it.
rationibus 1 year ago
@rationibus Why didn't they also question Bryant's actions after leaving the second accident scene? He parked his car around the corner at the hotel, and let off his passenger. The police never found that peculiar at all, but had a regular citizen done that, they could have been charged with obstruction of justice because the witness left, and they may have left with incriminating evidence. Add to that the person did not match the description of his wife, and you have possible perjury.
phillydisco 1 year ago
Instead we get a special prosecutor who appears to be pleading for the defence. Peck and Heinen did a good job of vilifying the guy who got killed. We have to take their word on that since none of these assertions were tested at trial. So Sheppard was a bad guy with a history of street altercations, but what exactly was he supposed to have done at the point Bryant is attempting to speed away after the initial smack-down?
rationibus 1 year ago
hopefully karma catches up with Bryant.
jgmlinda1 1 year ago
@rationibus Exactly. None of the alleged witnesses who bad mouthed Sheppard were ever tested in a court setting for their reliability. They could have been making it up. And those photos Peck entered, while they may look damning, it's hard to tell if they were Sheppard, and what did that have to do with the incident of the night of his death? If he had a history of violence, then why didn't the police hold him until he sobered up?His physical speed in the vids indicate he was not drunk.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco Lots of good questions Philly. Meanwhile they have managed to shift the focus away from Bryant onto Sheppard full bore. The whole thing makes me sick.
rationibus 1 year ago
I see now why, in the immediate aftermath of the incident, lawyers commenting on the case made no reference to the initial ramming of the cyclist by the car. They were waiting to hear what lie Bryant's team would come up with to explain it. So he popped the clutch and this, we are to believe, threw Sheppard onto the hood.
Why was this flimsy excuse not subjected to rigorous cross-examination on the stand?

I concur with 'phillydisco' on this matter. But this is the way of the world. Everything gets interpreted according to the pecking order. The Bryant case is just a classic and very blatant example of that. I blame Michael Bryant for the death of Mr. Sheppard, but not for protecting himself from prosecution. It's like a bad call in Hockey. You accept it and move on, because that's the way the game is played.
GeneralParadigm 1 year ago
@GeneralParadigm This wasn't a case of him not being found guilty or innocent, the Crown just dropped the case. But if they were really interested in justice, they would have pursued the matter thoroughly. There's still the matter of why the eyewitnesses said Bryant was in the car with a blonde person. I think they said woman, but it was night, so it could have been a man in drag, a teen, anyone. But it wasn't his wife, unless she played dress up that night.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@MJPKENT I think the problem is that Bryant spend a lot of money on the PR firm Navigator. They've got nothing good to show for Bryant. Where are the stories about him caring for people, helping orphans, or old ladies crossing the street? Nothing. Zilch. So the next best tactic for Navigator was to discredit the victim, Sheppard. Plant stories about his past behavior in the media, make him look like he 'deserved it'.Nothing changes the fact that a car was used as a battering ram on a cyclist.

By the way, is there a discrepancy between the two parts or the video or is it me?
In the first video, the car's motions were: roll, quick braking, accelerate forwards.
In the 2nd video, the car's motions were: quick braking, reverse for a few inches, turns slightly, accelerate forward.
No where in the first part was the backing up motion ? Am I missing something?
In any case, this extremely blurry video is no help to any argument past the initial ~5 seconds.
agnesed 1 year ago
@agnesed First video ends where the second video begins. It would have been nice if the media had released the footage from beginning to end. agnesed 1 year ago

Based on what has been reported in the papers and what we see on video there are two possibilities: either Bryant was panic stricken, fearing for his life, or an angry man inflamed with road rage. All because some guy on a bike passed him and yelled at him.
rationibus 1 year ago
We should have known something was not right with the case when it was the prosecutor who brought photographs allegedly showing Sheppard involved with a motorist. We don't know if that's really him in the pictures, or what the circumstances were. It sounds like everyone, the prosecution and the defense, were more interested in tearing down Sheppard.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco Yeah, it's been all about Sheppard. Bryant seems to have had two legal teams on his side. The strange thing to me is that while Bryant was ramming his car into Sheppard and then attempting to escape (not denied but only explained as panic and fear according to Peck) all Sheppard had allegedly done was scream and yell.
That is where the rage begins on both sides.

Lots of BS in the media.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@rationibus A witness said BRYANT was the one screaming like a fucking madman.
FeldwebelWolfenstool 1 year ago
@FeldwebelWolfenstool That's all I've ever heard. Is that it was Bryant doing all the yelling and screaming from his car. Then you look at his face when he's in the back of the cruiser, you can see how irritated he was. He wasn't sad he just killed a human being.

Cyclists need to obey the rules as they apply to them...unfortunately most don't. Hopefully this fool's mistake will begin a change of attitude for Toronto cyclists...based on the comments probably not. Grow up.

Just sorry two whack jobs ran in to each other (read encountered) on an otherwise pleasent night.
Bryant should not have bumped Sheppard. - His bad; he could have killed Sheppard
Sheppard should not have clung to the car. - His bad; that can get you killed.
Now what?
bollockchops81 1 year ago
@bollockchops81 We're assuming Sheppard had the option to let go. If his hand was jammed, then he would be unable to let go. And letting go when a car is traveling in excess of 50 km/h is not a smart move. The point is that Bryant should not have accelerated, and then deliberately directed his vehicle onto the sidewalk in an attempt to wipe off Sheppard.

@TSM8088 For every obnoxious cyclist there must be at last a hundred arrogant and obnoxious drivers. Even then I wouldn't argue that they should be killed.
rationibus 1 year ago
@TSM8088 he stupid dipshit, drivers break more rules every day than cyclist combined, and they are driving heavy vehciles capable of killing anybody. And they do kill. So shut the fuck up will you.
sMullyoz 1 year ago
@TSM8088 I agree that there are quite a few bad cyclists out there. The difference between a bad cyclist and a bad driver - 2 tons. Bad drivers are lethal. Bad cyclists might hurt a pedestrian, but they don't cause the injuries a bad driver causes.
I am more than happy to stay off the roads as a cyclist or a pedestrian if they built protected areas so that crazy drivers don't start thinking they're entitled to drive in those areas. There are way more bad drivers than bad cyclists.
phillydisco 1 year ago
I'm still convinced Bryant hit the cyclist deliberately. I drive a standard. I know how a car can lurch and stall. Not enough force to toss a guy up onto the hood. The fact that Bryant tried to flee the scene doesn't seem to register with the Crown. Clear case of hit and run in my view.
But I can see how there was no chance of a conviction. The evidence is that Sheppard was drunk and belligerent. Easy to convince a judge or jury that Bryant acted out of fear. Doesn't convince me though.
rationibus 1 year ago
@rationibus The Crown was probably convinced to not let this thing go to trial. I have a feeling that maybe if it did go to trial, Bryant's past would have been dug up. He might have even been found guilty or taken a plea bargain. By not bringing it to trial, Bryant stays looking like the victim, and his PR firm is free to spread lies in the media about Sheppard. Like the nonsense about Sheppard previously harassing drivers. All hearsay.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco
the so-called 'hearsay' about his previous encounters is about as solid as the evidence against bryant, which there is scant.
wayfarin 1 year ago
@wayfarin That's odd, because there appears to be video footage of the altercation. I guess that's considered scant because Bryant isn't standing up in it saying 'hey, I'm Michael Bryant driving this car!'

winchester4440 1 year ago
@winchester4440 Wrong attitude. Let's say Sheppard was mentally ill, and he was poor, and couldn't afford proper medication all the time. Would he deserve to die because he's had a few alleged outbursts in the past? Did Bryant know that Sheppard was a nutjob before he rammed him with his car? Sheppard barely takes two or three steps before Bryant is racing down Bloor. This wasn't self defense, this was road rage. A driver didn't like a cyclist moving in front.
phillydisco 1 year ago
The media is still tearing Sheppard through the mud. Now they're saying that in earlier incidents, Sheppard terrorized other motorists including a 70 year old woman. It sounds like the PR firm is still working overtime.
I think if a guy ran me down with his car, I'd be pretty mad. So Darcy wasn't allowed to be even a little mad at Bryant?
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco your grasping at straws and I am not sure why, he controlled his bike well? holy jesus, trouble is he wasnt very used to controlling hIMSELF!! he passed and cut infront of Bryant, he broke the law right there, like drunk people do, because their JUDGEMENT is impaired. People often get hurt or killed when their judgement is imparied. You dont need a pr firm to drag this guy through the mud, the truth comes out philly , deal with it.
cfqpa 1 year ago
@cfqpa Watch the video. Then watch videos of people trying to ride a bike while inebriated. You need to have a proper sense of balance to ride a bike. That's why they have you walk a line and touch your nose and all that nonsense to test your motor skills when you're suspected of being DUI.
He did not break a law moving into position. The bike lane was gone, so was the curb lane. That was the only lane and he moved to the front. Not exactly a reason to be murdered.
phillydisco 1 year ago
darcy was a drunk beligerent asshole that day and for a long time leading up to this
that doesnt mean he should lose his life no but Bryan had no choice in the matter, he was protecting the life of his wife and his own from a drunk, drugged, criminal lunatic, for all he knew this guy was going to kill him. If Bryant just sat there, then what? tell me, how would this read then..?? seen the pics of darcy inside another guys bmw?
cfqpa 1 year ago
@cfqpa For a drunk guy, he sure controlled his bike well. Just watch the video. He also got up quite fast. I don't know how many drunk people are able to move with lightening fast speed. Alcohol has the opposite effect.
Also, how do we know Bryant wasn't drunk? Oh yeah, the police didn't test him.
phillydisco 1 year ago

Hopefully he or one of his children die of a painful cancer, murderer.
avzett 1 year ago
I've just watched this video several times in a row on this, the day that Bryant's charges have all been dropped. Sheppard pulls up right in front of the car and perhaps refuses to move when the light goes green or hasn't noticed that it's a green. He's either not noticed or is being a deliberate asshole. The car shoves his bike forward then backs up so that Bryant can drive around him. This makes Bryant the second asshole in the equation, deliberately using his car as a weapon!
jordanthecat 1 year ago
@jordanthecat To continue what I was saying because I ran out of space: using one's car as a weapon, even against someone who may or may not be behaving like an asshole, is illegal. Or at least I thought it was until today.

Two assholes crossed paths, though; no question about that.
CheckDare 1 year ago
Sheppard had a blood/alcohol reading at .183, more than twice the legal limit. There were at least six previous altercations involving Sheppard and motorists who called police... "a pattern of escalating behaviour with motorists leading to the fateful incident."
Sheppard is definitely a candidate for a Darwin Award which salutes the improvement of the human genome by honoring those who accidentally remove themselves from it.
amy930 1 year ago
@amy930 Are these accompanied by police reports, or is this all hearsay? Just because it's put in the media doesn't mean some guy paid by Bryant isn't planting them as news.
People get angry. But Darcy did NOT kill someone. Nor did he physically harm anyone, either before, or in this case. Bryant, on the other hand, took a life. And he drove away from the scene of TWO accidents, yet was not charged with failing to remain. Nor was a breathalyzer administered. If that's not fishy, then...
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco he did too physically harm people, are you blind or stupid or what? Those people, including Bryant had the sense and fear enough to GET AWAY from the maniac or else we would be talking about how they got harmed as you say maybe killed, seriously are you dumb? in denial? both?
cfqpa 1 year ago
@cfqpa Did he now? And you know this because you dug up all of his police records?
Even if those alleged altercations were true, and I think they are spin from Bryant's PR firm, they would not be admissible in court. That had no bearing on the incident of that evening that cost Sheppard's life. We will never know if Bryant was intoxicated because the police gave him special treatment.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco of course they are admissable you retard, why do you think they didnt even go to a prelim? No bearing, ok thats settled then, you really are dumb.
hahaha. I take it you arent applying to law school anytime soon, or any job soon
cfqpa 1 year ago
@cfqpa No they aren't. They have no bearing on why Bryant a man on a bicycle, because Bryant would not have known anything about Sheppard's past.
I don't know anyone who would NOT be angry if someone hit them with their car. And then the car proceeded to speed off to evade the police. The only person acting like a man in rage and doing the yelling was the driver of the car. Witnesses have said that. The guy in the car was yelling at the guy hanging. Just watch that video, you'll see.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco haha Ok there boss , you win, your red herrings about boxing and blonde hair would have put Bryant away for a very long time, where he could sit and think hard how it doesnt pay to have be a success, have a happy married life and wife, and drive with the top down at night in toronto to celebrate that anywhere near any top of the line bike couriers.
cfqpa 1 year ago
I see from the story in the Toronto Star, Bryant is claiming his car stalled and when he tried to restart it, the car lurched forward throwing Sheppard up onto the hood.
Anybody believe this explanation?
rationibus 1 year ago
@rationibus
Having driven a standard all my driving life it is very possible if driven poorly for the car to jump that distance, especially if he was attempting to apply gas and the car jumped up RPM and then stalled out.
Brandon3060 1 year ago
@rationibus Nope. For someone whose car lurched forward, he sure was in a hurry to leave the scene of the accident. It wasn't like there was any time to have a conversation either. Mr Bryant is a trained boxer, and if he felt his passenger's life was in danger (a BLONDE woman, remember) he drove like he didn't care.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco I have read this drivel before, hes a boxer, so he should call up don king to meet him at the skydome where he can get his old gloves on and challenge darcy to a boxing match, settling Darcys jealousys and tragic upbringing that way in the ring. Oh and yeah short of this scenario he was trying to get away from a looney and as soon as he saw the coast was clear , that he and his wife were safe from some deranged maniac, he CALLED 911,
cfqpa 1 year ago
@cfqpa My point is that if he was a boxer, and not intoxicated, he would have the advantage on an allegedly drunken individual.
I guess you haven't bother watching the video because you obviously don't see the car running down the bike. I hope that someone doesn't run your down off your bike, or run you down while you're on the street, then says that it was your fault because you have a history of anger issues. Your postings seem to indicate it.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco I watched a guy on a bike purposley cut off a guy in a nice convertable with his wife right when he was about to move forward, just like everyone else watched. I watched sheppard break the law and then I watched him throw his bag at the car and try to jump into the window, just like he did days before on the guys bmw, hangin off the side with his arms on the wheel and assaulting and terrifying the driver.
cfqpa 1 year ago
@cfqpa You've already made a wrong assumption. You say the guy was with his 'wife'. That was never proven in court. You think I'm kidding around. The eyewitnesses to the accident said a blonde woman was a passenger, and she was let off at the Hyatt. Bryant's wife is a brunette.
You also failed to see the car push the bicycle with the rider on it several feet., then the car immediately backs up, then speeds around the cyclist.
There is no image of him hanging on,so you're obviously not serious.
phillydisco 1 year ago
@phillydisco No your right Im not serious and neither was that prosecutor they got from Vancouver who reviewed everything and came to the same conclusion and without the need for a prelim even. he was just joking around, hes a mouth clown and is preparing the real case as we speak, should hear from him soon as to the real fate that awaits the evil Michael Bryant
cfqpa 1 year ago
@cfqpa and do you realize how unreliable eyewitness accounts about visual and aural details are? remember when the cops were stopping cream camero's all over the country when they were told thats what bernardo was driving? it was a gold nissan. Clearly its your anger and jealousy that has you so blind to facts. Tellin ya, it gets one no where, just ask Darcy, there are no winners in this ya idiot

If Bryant is not convicted of the criminal charges the Sheppard family should sue. In a civil trial the burden of proof is "on a balance of probalities". Bryant wouldn't stand a chance. Not equal to a criminal conviction but some comfort at least.

He definitely deliberately hit him with his car, ie he used his car as a weapon.
In fact it seems as if he stopped the car and waited premeditatedly to plan to hit him with his car
It doesn't matter if they had words before this incident you do not hit a 30 pound bike with a 2000 pound car - it's cowardly and criminal !!!!
Serious jail time is required here as this video alone should be enough to nail him

It wasn't your cousin's fault. Even if he and Bryant exchanged angry words (not proven) that doesn't give Bryant the right to smack him down with his car.
