i was in a test drive in one of these last year, I was in the rear left seat (my pops was test driving it) the owner of the vehicle was in the passenger seat, so we were at the red lights stationary, then out of nowhere a car crashed into my door - rear passenger, full contact and i was able to walk out of that accident with only a few cuts and bruises! the ambulance and police who came were shocked that i even survived due to the speed the other car was travelling, its a very strong car!
All the people shocked at how the back seat folds down are as intelligent as the dummy up front. The rear seat belts are bolted to the body of the car, not the rear seat.
they really should have a dummy wit balistics gel and fake bone to also see how many abrasions and broken bone you might get, not just predict if you would, and asume you wont be cut
Hello did anyone see the back seat unlock and the head rest went flying, that would've been my child....this car is hellllllllllllllllls no I will never purchase Jaguar of any kind.
@Loakvo Love your spelling. Truth is, its ugly, and people barely bought it, thats why they dont even make it anymore, and no Im not a crazy SUV person, why does everyone jump the gun & just assume everyone loves SUVs, thats pretty ignorant.
@bamac2008 They don't make it anymore because it's a 10 year old car and a replacement is on it's way. They made it from 2001 to 2010 and it sold nearly 300,000. Not bad for a smallish company like Jaguar who only make 4 models in their range. And obviously you need to go to Specsavers or something. The X - Type is a fine looking car.
I was just making the point that it will never be a great car anymore because its not a true jag anymore and wont have the attention to detail and build quality.
The Mondeo V6 is a modern aluminum DOHC V6 with a 60° bank angle. The primary engineering input came from Porsche, who were developing a similar V6 before selling the engineering to Ford, and Cosworth, who helped with cylinder head manufacturing. The Jaguar AJ-V6 engine is similar but adds variable valve timing. Mazda's AJ version also has this feature.
Its a good engine, but it is a Ford.
And one more thing Luke. Your whole argument was based on Jaguar being British - Tata is Indian
"Jaguar's" AJ-V6 engine has an aluminium engine block and aluminium DOHC cylinder heads. It uses SFI fuel injection, has 4 valves per cylinder with VVT, features fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods and a one-piece cast camshaft and has direct-acting mechanical bucket (DAMB) tappets, these design aspects differentiating the AJ-V6 from the Ford and Mazda versions
I can say the same back at you, since what you typed was copy and paste. And it's not a ford engine, the only engine ford give to them is the 2.0d which sucks. Not the 3.0 Sovereign which is used the XJ and XF cars.
The Jaguar AJ-V6 engine is a specialized version of Ford's Duratec 25/30 V6. One notable addition is the use of variable valve timing, a feature also shared with Mazda's version of the engine. It is available in 2.0 L, 2.5 L and 3.0 L displacements.
have you seen the back seat? what if was there a bag full of sharp objects or any dangerous liquids or something? haha, that's the Jaguar new quality...

Good job making Jaguar Ford.
MrCivichatchback 11 months ago
the rear seats are meant to fold down. if the seat belt is fastened, it would lock in the event of a crash and that would not have occurred.

I do believe it was made to appeal as a cheap XJ8.
As far as the resemblance inside and out there are definitely similarities. i would still rather keep my old XJ8 than have a "new" X-Type.

I'm sure the 2008 X-type (Non Ford mondeo) Will do better.
LukeXgamer 3 years ago
and the head strikes the roof of the car on the way back.
great the airbag saves your life and then you fracture your skull
ponyplayallday 3 years ago
The seat belt failed too, the dummy's left shoulder dips down and forward, leaving the head behind on the airbag and twisting the neck.
As for the back seat, says it all really, its not a jaguar its a ford mondeo
ponyplayallday 3 years ago
It has only a ford mondeo platform. The rest is british, 3.0 V6 ~(british) 2.5 (British) It's far better than a mondeo.
LukeXgamer 3 years ago
A ford Mondeo is british you dick head.
Ford own Jaguar, its a ford engine.
The Mondeo is a good car, so is the x type.
I was just making the point that it will never be a great car anymore because its not a true jag anymore and wont have the attention to detail and build quality.
hense the back seat in this video
