  • It makes me so sad that people don't know who the original singer of this song was. Even more that it is considered such a rare track because it's one of the greatest!

  • classy .. comparing this to the X factor is like putting a chippendale next to a bean bag.

  • This version is better than Stevie Wonder version. So wonderful and emotional *_*

  • A+ Slide show. It makes me a bit emotional.

  • @djhaylow It's very nostalgic when I think of those days, of course it's different today, but I miss those times very much, all that talent that there was at Motown in the 60's etc JOHN

  • pure brilliant, cant say no more,,, pure class <3

  • I was so surprised to find out Stevie's version was a cover of hers! This was done with the usual Motown brilliance. I thing he was 16 when he wrote this...Wow!

  • @Tigerblade2008 Yes indeed, he is so talented, those were good times for music I used to think :-) JOHN

  • Tammi died at 24 and was such a really brilliant singer- she deserves a lot more recognition. Amazing voice, amazing really gutsy person.....!

  • @TOLSEYM wat happened and she died, is the person marvin gaye fancied.

  • great tammi

  • Never knew she sang this....beutiful!

  • You know this was never released right?

  • @MoveOnSoulClub Man, that I didn't know...that's sad...this is beautiful...maybe I'm too biased...I had a crush on that lady...

  • just discovered Tammi Terrell, what a great sound, her voice is so powerful! I had heard of her but wasn't familiar with her music. Classic stuff.

  • This version is ON FIRE!!! I never heard this until a couple of weeks ago and girlfriend brought it,don't get me wrong Stevies' version is on point as well, but this is the epitome of the 60's sound.Stunningly Beautiful!!! Thank you Mr,Magic 1959 from Prints 76...

  • if a producer sampled this it would be a hit

  • @JtSatan8732 wale sampled it

  • @kolense he sampled stevie wonders version.. im talkin this exact version with these drums and her voice lol

  • @JtSatan8732 /watch?v=niDmM-HimJM :-)

  • Stevie Wonder wrote this song when he was 16 years old. He's not human..

  • Wow thank you for educating me on this amazing song which I always thought Stevie did first.

  • Before Stevie!

  • oh boy i cant pick they are both great and different styles or should i say times! stevie with mj is a good dance version but tammi's voice just makes you feel good.. thanks for the post!

  • I LOVE Stevie Wonders version - but this.... this is absolutely fantastic. I didn't think it was possible to do better than Stevie, but this is close to his version.

  • wale did a remix to this song

  • WOW! I did not know about Tammi Terrell sang this too.

  • She died at age 24 of a brain tumor. Bless her forever.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, all of this talent Motown had on its roster... but he concentrated on a certain female group with a certain female singer whose voice was just okay. FWIW this rendtition by Ms Tammi Terrell was fantastic!

  • @dawn220 LOL, you're not lying about that certain female singer

  • HEART HEART HEART!

  • @coldfreshair YESN YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • if you could bottle this type of class ud b a millionaire ;timeless tammi terrel,ps i have a son named marvin and daughter named tamla, move with your feet, feel with your heart, keep the faith

  • This version is BETTER than Stevie's version. I never heard this as a kid in the 60's. This should have been a hit!!!!

  • This Chic is was " BAD" back n the day besides david ruffin and james brown bringin the abuse......

  • What idiots disliked this? seven dummies.

  • At present there are over 180,000 hits......for a track that was never issued at the time.

I'm so glad it did get released eventually out and thanks to all those who helped the process by including it on "Cellarful of Motown"

  • 7 ppl dnt kno anything about this music... Im 18 an all i listen to is music from this era

  • @GrandHearer & bigtee: They are really sleeping on a TT film with Tarji P Henson(look her up) in the lead role. She's an oscar nominated actress that looks so much like Tammi. If I only had money instead of looks.

  • Ms.Terrell should of had a movie by now...she is one of the best singers still till this day...and the sad thing about it is she was only 24 when she died:(...

  • Thanks Stevie. Thanks Tammi.

  • One day a really smart movie producer will use this song as its main theme and it will bring tons of promo support for the film -and FINALLY get all of the attention it should have received years ago. Of course the question is will Universal/Motown have the marketing sense to know how to capitalize on the hype??? Here's hoping!

  • i love it classy music thx

  • Ahhh, this is sooooo smooth. It just makes you forget about everything around you and mellow out. I LOVE IT!!

  • @1024SueNelson Exactly! I never thought anybody could rival Stevie's version for me, but she does!

  • its so sad the story of tammi terrel i read she was severly beaten by her boyfriend and later died of a brain tumor cuased by a contusion recieved by being repeatedly beaten to a pulp and was even hit over the head with a steel chair.died at only 24 yrs old she is a ledgend still to me look we are listening to her now im 25 yrs old discovering her.

  • @ASHLEY4500 I applied the same comment as you and it really is sooooo sad the loss. I just cried. It really is sad. This song is so INCREDIBLE!

  • Tammi Terrell

Come On And See Me: The Complete Solo Collection...coming soon! Check my channel for the cover art!

  • Wow. That was fantastic. I grew up on the Hotter Than July version, I never knew about this one. Beautiful vocal by Tammi. Thanks for posting.

  • @smokeverbs Same here, I just found out about it today. She KILLS it! Love this version!

  • does anyone know if the original stevie wonder clarence paul demo has been released?

  • Oh I'm so in love right now. I found out about her after researching David ruffin

  • @hurycaneman Its great that people are still discovering her music more than 40 years after she passed! THAT'S real music!

  • Beautiful!!!! She sang like an angel.

  • Man you can definitely hear the sound of Motown in this version. Great song by a great artist.

  • Man you can definitely hear the sound of Motown in this version. Great song by a great artist.

  • I love you babby good night!

  • I LOVE IT!

  • WOAH! I had no idea she sang this song - LOVE IT!

  • Because the rock n roll hall of fame is for washed up, sell out white bands from the 70's and 80's only.

  • Just watched Tammy Terrell's unsung and it's amazing how experienced her voice was for her to be so young, I never knew all the songs she sang before but I am researching them all now cause her talent was priceless it's a shame how the music industry let her memory just fade to black.

  • @missaries0183 I totally agree. I have been doing the same thing and I have been researching her songs all week. Her voice blows my mind, so young and such a strong voice.

  • wow wow I had no idea Miss Tammi did this song .before Stevie Wonder....Greattt

  • This is so beautiful. So sad how young she died and the way she died. My Goodnes, it is so SAD! Such a precious talent was she. Incredible song.

  • @1024SueNelson glad u getting to see how awesome she was. been on this trip for over 40 years

  • Why is this woman not in Rock and Roll hall of fame?

  • @oldheadque1 Because there is no justice in this ROTTEN society of ours. SAD!!

  • @oldheadque1 Because she is not white, male or plays a guitar.........

  • @oldheadque1 The usual reason,wrong color. SAD!

  • BEUTIFUL S0NG. TAMMI WAS S0 BEAUTIFUL. SHE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBERED AND NEVER F0RG0TTEN.

  • Lovely.

  • only 152, 560 views??? jeezzz, there should be at least 1 mil, dont let this music die. Check out kitty, daisy and lewis, a group from england, they are really good

  • Wow....I had no idea that (1) this song was originally written in 1966 and (2) that Tammi Terrell recorded it. Even as a teenager, Stevie was (is) a great lyricist.

  • Never heard this before. Thanks a lot.

  • Who sampled this an what was the name of the song

  • never knew Tammi was such a brillant solo singer

  • WALE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow!! Please tell me where I can get this song. I can't find it anywhere. This version is clearly the best one.

  • @embcarcadia I purchased the cd Motown Cellars off of Amazon CDNow 3 years ago

  • Thank you for this proving this track by Tammi--those were especially good and clean times in my life.

    God bless.

  • It's depressing that this song doesn't have more views.Tammi is so talented and gorgeous..

  • brill track

  • it s a little bit funny this feeling inside, I know it's not much but it's the best i can do,

I'm not one of those who can easily hide

I don't have much money but my boo, if i did i'd buy a big house where we both could live together

  • my boo, keep me away, it will be my most gift, i belong to you...even you re not agree with me

you make me happy when i am behind of you

my dream could be always in your heart

turn around without you...i love you

  • Wow!!!!! I always thought that Stevie was the original artist singing this song but he remade it and did a damn good job!!!

  • @44joints Stevie WAS the original artist who sang it. In addition to his 'Hotter Than July' version, he recorded a Demo version produced by he and Clarence Paul. It's still locked up. Maybe the world will hear it one day.

  • @brotherfugue ... Are you sure? Because Stevies version didnt come out until the eighties. So you're saying he recorded it in the sixties?because this was sang in 1966 by Terrell

  • @44joints I am absolutely certain. He cut a reference demo-a template if you will. This was not uncommon.

Prime example: even though "I Miss You" by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, with Teddy Pendergrass on vocals came out before David Ruffin's version, Ruffin claimed (and I believe it) that he recorded it first with the understanding that it was for him, only to have the track delivered to Teddy. Notice the strong similarities in the delivery.

The vaults are full of demos!

  • @brotherfugue .... Oh ok. I never really thought about it like that. Man I wish I could get inside of those vaults. A lot of suprises I'm sure!

  • Thank you SO much for posting this classic!!! More love!

  • This song in special drives me to tears, thanks for uploading.

I just wonder what kind of legend and superstar Tammi could have become, how her voice would have developed, without her oh so sad tragedy.

    R.I.P.

    Stay soulful!

  • great post! this is rare! - Tammi Terrell also dated James Brown who used to physically abuse her, they broke up of course, but it seemed like only Marvin was her true male friend.

  • Where can you find this song? iv'e looked all over to download it or buy it but nothing will allow me?

  • u go girl... tammi terrell a true legend that seems 2 have been forgotten & a beautiful/lovely singer. rite at the prime of her career we lost her. she was great when it came 2 teamin up w/marvin gaye. i always thought stevie wonder was the only one to do this but 2 find out that tammi was 1st is great (i like her version better). i have the fellin stevie wrote it cause it seems like somethin he would write.... thats how multi talented the man is.

  • Absolutely INSPIRING!

  • @MotownMagic1959 I can just imagine how you feel, you was able to see these two career shoot off and go places. The thing that makes me sad is that since Tammy died young she didnt get to reach her full potiental and it was clear she was going to be a Legend like Marvin was able to achieve. But then again if she didnt die they both would have still probably did duets and been BIG. Or have panned out a different style of music from the Marvin we know now.

  • @17bridge Yes, he did much much later after Tammi died, she was a friend of Stevie's of course as was Marvin Gaye. JOHN

  • What a lovely version of this song! Both Tammi and Stevie were/are quite talented.

  • @stefmagura You are so right indeed! JOHN

  • She is Truly Missed. We Need More songs sung this way!

  • Thanks for posting!!!Never knew she song this song fist!!!! How old was stevie when this song was written!!!!

  • @hapki Stevie was only 16 when he composed this song especially for Tammi Terrell! He was and still is amazingly talented don't you think? JOHN

  • i feel i was born in the wrong generation. this is real ans so beautiful. unlike the garbage you hear today

  • I like this, I'm glad I stumbled upon this version. I love Tammi and never knew she made this song.

Such a beautiful woman, with a beautiful voice. No duet couple touches me like Tammi and Marvin, they had something magical and rare.

  • Where can i get a download of this song?

  • Did this track actually get a release at the time? I first heard it on a Cellar Full Of Motown Vol 1

  • @liferasta1 No this song sadly was added to Motown's vaults never released and forgotten but as you say today they have released it on Cellarful Of Motown Vol 1 finally realizing just how good these old tracks are :-) JOHN

  • People have said that David Ruffin...YES RUFFIN... hit her in the head with a hammer during their very turbulent relationship...is that true too?

  • Im 19, and OMG..First off she was beautiful as hell i would have tried to talk to her if i live back then lol, and second she has a once in a life time voice! Man now I see why Marvin was tore up when she died because if i can feel so sad about it then i know he was messed up, then she was so young and pretty with much unfilled potiental..RIP This song is better than Stevie's version not in a bad way but respectively..

  • @Tj956 Marvin and Tammi were such a great singing duo all those years ago, it still upsets me today when I first heard that she had got a brain tumor, I'll never forget them. They were part of my youth as was Motown's music and it always brings me joy! JOHN

  • @MotownMagic1959 I can just imagine how you feel, you was able to see these two career shoot off and go places. But then again if she didnt die they both would have still probably did duets and been BIG. Or have panned out a different style of music from the Marvin we know now.

  • @Tj956 That's very true, Marvin and Tammi plus Stevie had an enormous effect on me when I was young as did Motown in general because they sounded different than any other singers at the time, Motown is the only record company ever to have a sound named after them to which I've never forgotten! JOHN

  • @Tj956 well said my brother.

  • @Tj956 very very true I am 20 and think the same way R.I.P. Miss Terrell

  • this song has enchanted me. I've been listening to it several times daily for over a month. It is perfect. thanks for posting it.

  • There has been such a buzz over this recording since it was first put out on Cellarful of Motown that I truly believe that it wasn't a good idea to vault this track and not release it as a 45.

  • WOW!!! Never new that there was an original version.. Tammy Terell.., Philly in the house.

  • A beautiful song sung by a beautiful woman

  • All i be is bout my money

  • wow...this is the frist all i do record...wow....what a great song....my goodness i love stevie but damn tami sing it baby...wow

  • I think i like this verison better

  • Wow Tammi is so gergous...

I'm born very very after this soul generation but i feel just more close to this music than rap or anything else, but whatever....

I love Tammi Terrell voice and i think it's a pity that few people know her and all these greats singers (excuse my english i'm french)

  • one of the great songs to ever come out of Motown. a hidden gem.

  • This song is perfect i can only say:)Temmi's voice is clear and beutiful...

  • This is a great song!! There are so many good remixes of it to that I can't seem to find :(

  • I first heard this on Richard Searlings A Cellar Full Of Motown Vol 1 Comp I thought this was unreleased, the definitive version for me

  • I love this song. I like Stevie's version, but Tammi's version has the emotion and longing. I prefer this version, its innocent and beautiful.

  • I´m from México and I heard this song first time on 1999 played by Kirk Whalum and singed by Wendy Moten.

I have been surprised when I know this song was wrote by Steve Wonder

  • @tochtlipilli89

Kirk Whalum has a GREAT version of this song that I look for at all of his live shows.

  • very well constructed collage, where the words "all I do is think about you", Marvin appears...and the video ends the poignant shot of David Ruffin........

  • Many people dont know that when Berry Gordy was considering a replacement for Diana Ross, he considered Tammi to take Diana's spot. Its clear with the way she sounds on here. she even has Ross's phrasing. her voice is soulful yet could easily cross to pop with the right song.she would hav added new magic to the Supremes. unfortunately Tammi was at the end of her road dying from a brain tumor in which she did.he decided on Jean Terrell. but Tammi had an edge on Jean.like Ross, unique voice. .

  • Tammi is my Queen <3

  • absolute awesome tune thanks for the share.ktf

  • I never knew Stevie wrote this song for Tammi Terrell first then recorded it himself...wow. This version is nice as well.

  • Tammi Terrell and Karen Carpenter

are the most AMAZING, AWESOME and INCREDIBLE female singers I ever heared !!

I´m without words to express what is this song. Her voice really really moves me !!

  • Tammi was one of the best motown stars! Her voice was young and fresh and so full of love.

She was a very charming lady!

  • beautiful!

  • i love this song and mad that it was never released...what the hell motown was thinking..... I love tammi and Flo ballard...they were the best women of motown...where can i download this song

  • I feel like I just traveled back to 1966. This is classic Motown with everything that makes you feel young forever. She is the pretty girlfriend and love every boy wanted to have. The is a song about young love which is what Motown did best, Maybe, she wasnt treated the best by the men in her life but the love that is coming out in this song is given back to her a million times over. Tammi, I hope somehow, you know and feel this from all of us. Sweet baby!

  • i used to get mad at God for not allowing me to have lived back in those days

  • well history does repeat itself

  • I wish history would hurry up cause this music of today is crap

  • omg i know the music of today is total crap

  • why do the talented people have so much problems and die so soon?

  • Well, as far as Tammi Terrell is concerned, she tragically died at a very young age of a brain tumor. It broke Marvin Gaye's heart and changed his career forever.

  • it's very sad. I think she could became a grate artist, just like Diana Ross. Tammi had all cards for play.

  • Marvin e Tammi were just friends or more than friends?

  • Yes. Marvin & Tammi were in a relationship through much of their duet-recording sessions.

  • Oh, that's why they are so beautifull together

  • Yes, even sadder was the fact that Marvin knew she had a brain tumor and she collapsed on stage performing with him, he retired from performing for about three years then he made the "What's Going On" album during the riots time!

    JOHN

  • That saying "The good die young." To me that doesn't just mean the well-behaved, upstanding citizens. The people that are extremely good at what they do and bring happiness to people are included. 'Cause not all that died lived the best lives, but they created so many great memories for others.

  • i think she sang this song on the first takee.

  • Motown was on top of the world! Berry introduced the world to today's greatest stars&& the world's late great stars (ex: Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell, Michael Jackson, ect...)<<R.I.P!

  • excellent!!

  • She was very pretty. This is a nice version of "All I Do".

  • A hauntingly beautiful version of this song.

  • I, like this original version.

  • GOD bless Michael Jackson.

  • Could someone give a full list of remixes on this song..??? Please...

  • tjis is a perfect video i realy like it so much and i realy a big fan of tammi i love her douet with marvin gaye thanx

  • Cancer is a bitch!!!

  • WHAAAAAT, I Did not know this was an old song, I thought this was a Stevie Wonder Original...WOW...Learn something new everyday....WOW!!! This original version is good, and Stevie's version is Excellent as well..

  • oh yeah of course... also became his tribute to her on hotter than july....

its such a shame that we lost one of motowns best singers in her prime, her version of this old heart of mine is so much more emotional than the isleys :)

plus didnt marvin say he'd never duet again? and then go straight to diana ross lol

i forgot about this tune :)

  • Roy Davis Jr also did a great remix of this :).......then Cleptomaniacs decided to copy :( xxx

    cleptos!!!

  • Great track ! If I'm not mistaken Stevie

featured this song 14 years later on

his classic 'Hotter Than July' LP released

    in 1980.

  • You're correct on that bit of info. Stevie did put it on that album.

  • Wow...what a singer. I´m a 19 years old and I cab say, with security, that today we don´t hav so much singers with that potencial and soul.

    Tammi is awesome

    this song is FABULOUS

  • motown slept on a giant by not releasing this hit in its day.tammi at her best.god rest you our beloved sister

  • Love this "original" version. Very hard to find to download. She was really talented and sad she died so young.

  • this version is featured on a 2-CD set called "A Cellar Full of Motown" it contains unheard of tunes that were stocked away in the Motown vaults collecting dust-

  • I've been saying for years that they should release more compilations from the 1960's in Motown's vaults, for unexplained reasons they have abandoned another 3rd set of the CD's you mentioned!! UMG Universal Music Group are the copyright owners of Motown. Nice to hear your comments. JOHN
