can u please post some more open G stuff, or anyone to look up Open G blues. I am currently unemployed and cant spend money. Playing my guitar is all i got :(. Your lessons are great btw
At 1:45 you talk about "putting the pressure" on the D string. What exactly do you mean by this? Am I correct to understand that the note is still being fretted? I've been trying to capture the "essence" of that first riff but something is missing.
It's all great, but I love your subtle bends on the low notes. My style isn't as traditional as yours, but I just posted a raw blues slide song in open G on my channel that you might enjoy. It's called Underground. Check it out if you have the time. Anyway, thanks for the very thorough lesson.
Ay, dats alright darris. Thanks so much for posting this. Your style so clear and inspiring - makes me want to put down the Strat and pick up the acoustic.
Mate, I can't thank you enough. You've given my playing so much more colour and you also gave me 'permission' to try so many of my own ideas. I owe you big time.
I got a question for all of you. This guy is the bomb. But I cannot figure one thing out. You know how he kinda half mutes the bass strings? I have no idea how he does it cause when I do it the string goes totally mute. He isn't doing the typical palm mute stuff where your palm sits on top of the end of the string (cause his hand is all the way up picking at the level of the fretboard). If anyone can explain to me how to mute it I'd appreciate it 1000Xs! It's been frustrating!
@tangster1985 I think he's using his thumb on his right hand very much like a slide guitarist does to mute the strings they are not playing. check out some slide techniques.
Hey man i really like your lessons, i've always been a blues player but more of a led Zeppelin Rock and Roll style blues, i love the Delta Blues and i'm trying to learn it well because i love it but also how do you know where your going until you know where you've been ya know? i'm new to the Whole Finger picking, how should i place my Picking hand for comfort?
@luizsousa25 no sorry your logic is off. this is open G. Go learn your open Tunings again then try and tell this master of blues he's wrong. Jerk i despise people like you
Watchrd this last night and learned it, for the most part:) I used my slide for the C, then did the pickin. Did the same thing for D. Quick slide, then pick the C and D parts. Will post it tonight (my first post!).
Thanks Stove! Love open G! I'm thinkin 'bout leaving one guitar in that tuning.
What I'd like to know is where does he get all of this material. He has so many good riffs that I could only imagine in my head. Its like an old man on his front porch in the 1920's just woodsheddin' all day long!
Love it, thanks so much.

He mutes the strings by using his left hand he releases the pressure of his left hand so it just touches the strings
