This was not on the B side....it was a different artist (Yella) on a separate label, also in '81. I had the 12" 45 rpm disc back in the day. The tune is called "Yella" on the A side, and Yella (dub version) on the B side. I'm sure that they were authorized by Tina and Chris (whose names appear in the writer credits) to use the track. Released on Antilles Records, which btw, was a subsidiary of Island Records, as was Sire Records..the wikipedia article might be erroneous.
This song brings back memories of a group that didnt get justice. The all mighty three,a group that didnt hav the backing.PEACE,to what could hav been........
Right on to the poster, This was one of first songs I taped using my boom box. I would put it in front of the speakers of the tv while watchin "Soul Beat" after school (Marcus Foster middle School - West Oakland) Brings back fond memeories Like Finger waves & Jerri Curls, Playin Galaga @ Jim's diner on San Pablo after killin a bag of them fries drenched in catsup. Ahh the 80's

This was the east oakland anthem. I lived on 76th and Ney and used go to Poppa Joes Car Wash and watch the falcon boys/mustang boys/cougar boys come thru slappin this song. With the old school 8 inch pyle driver speakers in the back and the original zapco board. I have not heard this song in 20 plus years.

I wonder where Yella is now and if he made more after this. This is east Oakland classic family heirloom Rollin' hunids, Pimmyville, Sunnyside, Walnut ave, Plymouth Rock..
This is that classic shit I used to have this record. I been looking for this song but couldnt find it. Nobody knew what I was talking about only real hardcore hip hop fans.
38th locos remember too my brotha....KPOO back in the days....East Oakland in the house...we used to replace NY with Oakland when this song came on....much love to NY from the Town....
OMG...The Falcon Boys! They rode down my street all the time. Damn. I've been tryin to figure out who this was by! Finally found it on Wikipedia. B side to Genius of Love. This was the jam at the skating ring in Foothill Square! LOL! Anybody know where I can buy or download it????
I think you're mistaken. This is the sister-song to 'Genius of Love'. One could call it a remix. THIS is the version she's talking about. No one's ever "covered" it.
It's amazing how many songs and movies are redone without consumers realizing it. I think I like this version better, it's kinda funky {:o)"
I thought they were saying some dick has covered and released it recently, I was curious to hear what they have done. I know about Tom Tom club man, I've even met Tina and Chris back in 89
@JERRYKNIGHT84 Hi, Kitty's right, This is the version I'm talking about and like other's said mariah used some it if (or at least it sounds like it) After enjoying the song, I thought of songs, movies etc and that's where I was amazed. They resold us "sleeping with the enemy", "yesterday" and some people even think limp bizkit's version of behind blue eyes is an original! I hadn't thought about it much til then and I made my comment after so that kinda bled in, sorry bout the confusion
I miss this cut! My Uncle brought this to me and brother back in the day. I haven't heard this since 1983!
