  • I understand his perspective. I have come under some criticism for my view, however I think that agnosticism is an acceptable position.

My understanding is not quite as he describes it. I don't consider it 50/50 on God or no God. I would say it could well be far more unlikely that there is a God than not, but not demonstrably to the point of conviction of atheism.

He argues against traditional religious ideas. Let's leave those aside. Ask a question of an Einsteinian/Deistic God...?

  • Morality is an antiquated, minor, puny, useless concept. It's about the imposition of power & control, & not the appreciation & celebration of of inquiry, wonder, mystery, growth, understanding, cooperation, acceptance. Morality is a leash on a badly trained dog. Some people might need to think of themselves as bad dogs, but I just see myself as a curious puppy... with a car... and a gun... Naw, the gun's a joke...

  • Grayling commits the "epistemology over ontological" mistake when assessing the Moral Argument. That's very surprising.

  • @Birdieupon I thought the ontological argument had been pretty conclusively refuted. Maybe I missed something. Are you saying one approach cannot negate or trump the other?

  • Non religious voice is mute? Where?

  • What about spiritualality?

  • is the description taken from Grayling's book?

    so eloquent. so true.

  • This is a man that has my respect.

  • AC Grayling is awesome!
