I have a 20 gallon tank with 5 platies all but one died from what i think is Costia i was told to treat them with ick away. should I? He seems to be getting better is ther something I should be doing other then the ick away? Any tips are welcome

how long was the tank set up before the fish were put in? did you put anything new into the tank just before the fish died like new water or plants or decs?

@oliesminis A little longer then five days the lady at the store where I got my water tested said it was fine and the bacteria had already started to grow and I could add fish in three days 3 days later we get the water tested and it was perfect so we got 5 platies and you know the rest. No water was added or any plants. We always get the fish from petsmart and they die the same way. Could it be are water? We have well water.

If you don't own ich treatment or a heater get both of them! I've had problems with ich in the past but not after I got a heater and ich treatment.

I'm not an expert but I would look into the compatibility of your gourami, your angelfish, and your shark..depending on what type they can all grow to be rather large

the gourami is a swarf gourami and is entirely suitable for this tank. i do not have and angelfish in this tank, i dont know where that idea came from. the same goes for a shark, i dont own one of them.

ive never done it but ive seen people with it and its pretty easy and if you look up what plants are good the fish will really enjoy it

Yeah, it's really easy! Just make sure you don't have any plant eating fish :D

1. Go out and buy a Sun-Glo bulb for your' tank, this replecates Sunlight so the plants can photosynthesize (Leave the light on in day, and turn it off at about 9.00pm at night)

2. Wash the plants in some water.

3. Put the plants in your' tank's gravel so they can root.

4. Turn on the tank's Sun-Glo light and viola, that's all you need :D

Consult some guides if you are not 100% sure.
