@Trebgah You know sharks don't usually just swim onto shore, they have the strength to resist any current that might have pushed them towards it, so with that it was sick leading onto that if it becomes sick it gets weak like how we get a flu, if they did push it into the water it'd just float-sink-reappear at the shore.

To all of you who are wondering, it was safe to poke the shark because it was dead/dying. Even if it was alive, as you can see, there's no teeth. The worst it could do is drown you or gum you to death.
It may have been ill and dying as nature intended. We always cry about leaving nature be until we see a stranding or a cuter animal being eaten by a less majestic one.
So how many of us would notice a dying shark on the beach and NOT stop to look at it? Its the beach, most average people aren't marine biologists and average people don't know how to call one up and ask for advice either. Further more, none of us know how close it was to the brink of death.
