First Officer Jeff Skiles started flying at the age of 16 & to date has logged more than 15,000 hours in the sky. His early days were spent flying with his father over the Alcan Highway to Alaska. He went on to become a flight instructor, flew cargo and later worked for a commuter airline. He has spent the last 23 years as a First Officer and Captain for US Airways. He is the Vice President of the Coalition of Airline Pilot's Associations. Married with three teenagers.
I agree with Outlaw - I have seen repeatedly Sully attempting to divert the attention from himself and give equal credit to the entire flight crew. This is a clear fact an unambiguous. Would the ending have been the same if the co-pilot had continued in-command at the controls? I dunno. The right man was in the right position to do that which was needed at the right time.
Actually, Captain Sully has given Captain Jeff considerable credit, making it clear that he could not have handled the emergency without him. Captain Sully has also expressed his chagrin over the medias fixation on him, and the inadequate credit that is rightfully due Captain Jeff, the flight attendants, as well as the rescue and medical personnel who answered the calls for help.
Collectively, all of these people gave new meaning to the word "excellence".
I originally mistook you for someone with an IQ over 60; my bad. In the future, I'll try to confine my sentences to no more that seven words, and I'll make it a point to use monosyllabic words.

Some people say it was a "Miracle on the Hudson." I say it was education and skill.
Some say that your plane crashed landed that day. I say it was a controlled landing on water.
And I also say, "Thank you all for bringing not just the 5 of you to safety but 155 and reunited with friends & family!!!
We all love you!!!!!!!
