  • JWST funding reinstated, project not cancelled, as of 2011/11/16.

  • Holy shit I just imagined a HAARP on the moon.

  • JWST cancelled :(

  • Don't just look for plants with water because different organisms from different worlds may not rely on water to live depending on how there where made.

  • But what is better for studying planets outside out solar system ? Space telescopes like James Webb or telescopes placed on Earth's surface ?

  • This is amazing.

I'm so glad I live in a world with people who care for science and technology.

(forgetting about all the ignorance and violent people that make up much of the worlds populous) :P

  • blooody hell

  • imagine.... in a few hundred years, humanity is a galactic civilisation, colonising and traveling large portions of space.. desperately looking for other lifeforms, but not finding it... more and more planets appear lifeless... an empty universe becomes more and more certain....

would be terrible now wouldn't it...

  • @RTRVII chemistry and physics are the same everywhere. Where theres matter and water, maybe not even water, there's life. There can't not be any no matter how simple.

  • yo are serious that telescope will get actuall piccs of other planets??? thats sicker then the swine flu oooh and light speed :)

  • oooh and light speed :)

  • oh and i forgot wormholes!!!!! crazy shit

  • yo lemme say somthing. we at this this centuryand last century....are living in one of the greatest most memorable period in human history. why? everything. EVERYTHING is starting now...electricty was invented and the first time we went to the moon. THE FUCKING MOMOON! and so many new discovers about cloning, genes, dnas, planets, all these crazy theories, particle colliders, cars, dark hole simulators, spaceships, even more thinds ....its crazy this will be somthing like the tecnological rev.

  • Science.What a beautiful thing.

  • Great viewing.

  • check out the tiny man for comparison 1:05 it's fooking huuuuuge, just imagine what we'll be able to see :)

  • 79 retards don't question their existence

  • I already dread the launch day for JWST! Why, you ask? Well, I've had satellites I cared about dumped into the ocean by failed launches. I really hope I forget about the launch, and only remember *after* JWST is safely up!

  • Im happy i wasnt born in the stoneage, we are lucky to be here now. All first to the egg :)

  • It's exciting to think of what will be discovered in the next decade or two :)

  • Hubblecast, that sounds a bit too much like another word I know... referred to a time in Weimar germany...

  • Aha! So those aliens weren't just making pretty patterns in our crops, they were giving us design ideas for radio telescope arrays :-)

  • How come the James Webb telescope doesn't have visible light capabilities? No more beautiful pictures of galaxies or nebula or anything? How are they going to keep the public interested?

  • @christo930 You can see through dust in infra red.

  • haha so funny

  • Your statement is from a religious point of view, meaning that it has no evidence to back it up. Therefore being a very dumb statement.

  • why would we be the only one!

  • I think that if some Aliens find us first, that means that they are more civilazed than us. Hope that they are not hostile because they could incinerate our human race. Imagine if we could get in touch with other alien races, that would change a lot of things in our world.

  • Actually if Alien civilization find us first.. they wont kill us because 1st they have to be rediciliously advanced civilization to find us. 2nd why would they kill a living life form after searching for one for i dont know.. forever. 3rd They dont want to destroy earth because its not easy to find earth like planets. Yeah u can find water and other materials on asteroids and all but collective bundle like Earth comes once every millennium. 4th. GOD I HOPE THEY ARE FRIENDLY TOO.

  • Someone had to create us, we are probably not even from this planet. Could be a superior Alien race that created us humans for labor. Left us here on earth like a mouse in a maze. They would probably come back to see if we showed any progress.

  • That could be true or that could be false too.. the big answer is that WE JUST DONT KNOW. That is what fules the science to discover things to answer these questions.

  • There has to be life out there, but we have to look for it by exploring the galaxy. I personally think that we should spend more money on space than weapons. Why can't we all come together and stop the wars that we have. Motivate people to explore the space, in this case we would achieve much faster toward space exporation. I mean this is my persepctive toward the space. I think that we have been visited by other being and we still are being visited by them.

  • we all know that we are not alone! there are millions of other civilizations out there in our milky way galaxy alone and many more in other galaxies!

here in the milky way, we had the nordics or human-looking aliens, the commonly-encountered grey aliens, insectoids, reptilians and other non-sentient beings and us of course!

  • Kool!!!

  • narza? nasa geez

  • 2:02 already found.

  • We have the VLT (Very Large Telescope), the ELT (Extremely Large Telescope) is planned in Europe. Maybe the OLT (Obsenely Large Telescope) in a couple of decades?

  • lol

  • lol, well theere actually was a project called the overwhelmingly large telescope (100m). project was canceled though

  • Just incredible. This is one of the only things that makes me enjoy being young: looking forward to the future!

  • "Just incredible. This is one of the only things that makes me enjoy being young: looking forward to the future! "

    I totally agree!

  • Fascinating!

  • NEAT

    I can't wait for the future x3

  • weather modifying super weapon? sweeeet.

  • WOW Incredible Video.

  • I like how our curosity is letting us look for life elsewhere, but sometimes I wonder if we should be paying more attention to the 1.5 million species that live in this planet than looking for them somewhere else.

  • Scientists just recently discovered 1,068 new species in the Mekong Delta region... so I guess the answer is, let's do both :)

  • that scientists recently discovered 1,068 new species in the Mekong Delta region has nothing to do with the fact that we should be paying more attention to the 1.5 million species that live in this planet, discovering is not creating, on the other hand we do exterminate existing species, discovered or not

  • Awesome.

  • I believe you are thinking about HAARP.

  • I can't wait for these future images!!!

  • Thank goodness I was born in this century!

  • Imagine 100,000 yrs from now *gasp*... thats when i would've loved to have been born, so we could gawk at how lame humans were in 2008 It'll sound something like... [aww... look at their lame telescopes, my kid could build that in 10mins!!] hehe!

  • @chris3443 next one is always better. lol

  • @chris3443 imagin wut its ganna be like in the next century
