@decristo because this is trash that you could put together in a day of fucking around if you really wanted to. it is absolutely tasteless and talentless and i can't fucking believe people find this listenable.
@mcnaryw Everyone's got their own tastes, but if you think this is terrible, it makes me think you just don't like real rock like the Stones, KISS, Humble Pie, Big Star, Cheap Trick, etc. I don't get how anyone who professes to love rock and roll doesn't think Urge is the best kept secret of the last 25 years....
One of the greatest bands ever. Exit The Dragon & Saturation are such badass masterpieces, they tear it up live to this day and are so nice to their fans. It's a shame that most only got to know their cover of "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" from Pulp Fiction and never bothered to dig deeper. It may have taken up most of their 15 minutes of fame but was a huge career mistake, IMO. They're so much more and this is one of the tracks that prove it.
The historians at bey pan this album and claim this single isn't commercial. Sure, it's may taste a listen or two. But there are plenty of hooks here.
@VoodooEpidemic It's almost like there were TOO many hooks for the bloated, phony Pearl Jam/Nirvana era, you know? This is pure 70s rock/pop, 15 to 20 or so years after the fact....
@jodysoldman Maybe THE best? I honestly can't think of a better one. Maybe Material Issue? Thing is, Urge was all about the Stones, Cheap Trick, Zep, KISS and the other titans of the 70s...they had nothing to do with their "peers" of the Seattle crap....the first few bars of this tune are pure, stuttering Keith guitar....
@jodysoldman Sorry to break it to you, holmes...but this band will never be known for anything. The Smashing Pumpkins crushed any dreams these guys ever had of making it big outside of Chicago.
@toemasie Well put. That sums it up in one sentence. And ever since Nirvan hit the scene over 20 years ago, this style of rock and roll is just a niche for people like us...
Looking good and playing great music was not in fashion in 1995. Self-loathing and blowing your face off above the greenhouse was. There were many things about my generation that were so fucking lame. This is not one of them.
I never understood all the negativity about UO...all the stalker crap and Albini snipes.... they are a GREAT band who have 'something' that most bands would give an arm and a leg for......they were Chicago indie, they got a break and produced 2 Big Time CLASSIC albums..... the music speaks for itself....and now they're BACK!!! I'm f@ckin' happy.........
I wasn't blown away by SATURATION although it had a wicked album cover, but this album is one of the best rock albums of all time, one of the greatest 'lost' albums of all time if you know what I mean, they deserved to be huge.
@leokearse It's funny because I completely disagree with you. I was in college when "Saturation" came out. I thought it was incredible from start to finish. Then they had success with "Girl, You'll be a Woman Soon". They had momentum going, and should have been huge, then this album came out in 1995. Although "The Break" is a cool song, I was very disappointed in the album in general. Unfortunately, Urge Overkill was truly never able to recover.
"Tin Foil" is an incredible song off of this album. Stunned that it never got released. Seemed like the album died a very abrupt death and that was it. :(
@sjk72 I dunno I always liked Exit the Dragon. It gets better and better over the years. Kind of the way Exile on Mainstreet was panned when it came out but turns out to be probably the most definitive Stones album does Exit the Dragon for Urge Overkill
@leokearse True. They should have sold ten mill not Pearl Jam. In my alternate universe, Urge Overwill and Material Issue were the Pearl Jam and Nirvana of 1991 thru 94.
These guys crap all over Pearl Jam and Nirvana.

These guys came out in a time when "alternative" was cool. Urge isn't alternative, they're ROCK N ROLL!
