Omg, I was humming this the other day and wondered if it was on youtube. I remember this being on all the time when I was a kid and just sitting in front of the tv singing along!
I don't know how many times watching the 4:30 movie as a kid growing up on Long Island NY I heard this jingle during the commercials. It just brings back those wonderful memories when everything seemed so much easier, life was a joy, our parents were still around and we had a whole entire world open to us. If only time machines truly did exist, I'd book a reservation on the 1st available trip back to that time of my life! ~Peace and God Bless~
@Luvinthe70s you're making me cry. I too grew up on long island and I remember the 4:30 movie and then eyewitness news came on. How funny. I tell my kids we had no electronics, no cell phones etc and I can't remember a happier time. We just played tag or baseball all summer long. I wish too I could go back for just one day.
That jingle (and number) got burned into my head as a kid, also! Why did so MANY of these places go out of business? Mt Airy, Pocono Gardens, and even The Summit (Where my Bride and I honeymooned in 1989) are ALL GONE! How many more went under, and how many are left??
This commercial feels so summery, not just because of all the bright poolside pictures, but because we used to see it only on weekday mornings during summer vacations when we were out of school. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
i remember i was like 9 or 10 in 1978 an me and my friends would see this commercial an just call number from parents phone everyday...then when i got call they were like saying who called the poconos
In that link you provided, just think: in 30-40 years that's how our present culture will be viewed. Sad but so it goes. What's in one generation will be out the next! THX for the quality memories of a not so complicated time.
another classic. yes, the jingle definitely sticks in my mind... i have always wanted to find a place with a heart shaped tub! i guess i just have to go there. is it still around?
It closed a long time ago, but you can go to the Paradise Stream resort which is actually only a mile from the old Gardens Lodge. You can check out the ruins of them while you are there.Paradise has the heart shaped tubs and quite a lot of recreational activities to do as well. Here is their info:
In Suffolk County, Long Island (pre 631); 226 was (and probably is) an exchange in Lindenhurst and parts of West Babylon, I felt sorry for that family who had that number.

I liked the one with the cartoon deer:
"Hello deer people" and ended with "I deerly recommend it!"
I would love to see that one!

You can tell they were affiliated...similar copy points, and even the jingle sounds like MAL's!
