Slavery back then isnt anything like the slave trade is today. Those people who were slaves were payed money for their services and treaded with respect. They were in fact pretty much like a butler for the household.

People do lose their temper & hit others. If the slave died then the master is punished. If the slave survived the castigation a day or two, the master did not become amenable to the law, because the loss of the slave was accounted, under the circumstances, as a punishment. Also their culture is a whole lot different back then to ours. Slavery isnt condemned because it isnt the type of slavery you are thinking of, this is service. Slavery back then isnt anything like the slave trade is today. Those people who were slaves were payed money for their services and treaded with respect. They were in fact pretty much like a butler for the household.

Really? Then why does the bible teach that if a master beats his slave and the slave lives for a day or two before dying, the master is not to be punish? Do you regularly beat your employees? The bible teaches some pretty horrible morals when it comes to slavery. Further more the bible says nothing to condemn slavery.

When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

People do lose their temper & hit others. If the slave died then the master is punished. If the slave survived the castigation a day or two, the master did not become amenable to the law, because the loss of the slave was accounted, under the circumstances, as a punishment. Also their culture is a whole lot different back then to ours. Slavery isnt condemned because it isnt the type of slavery you are thinking of, this is service. I assume you are thinking of Negro slavery with chains & such,

Only a moron believes in the bible. there are thousands of errors in it; that hardly is the work of some god. More importanly, it's not what is in the bible that matters, but what isn't in the bible that matters. Not one equation, no mention of chemistry, or cosmology, or any hard science. i agree with huckabee on the question posed as well..and truly christianity is fusion of other beliefs, however this does not diminish its veracity at all; instead it weaves the most basic beliefs of different culture together and presents to the reader what people round the world, over the ages, hold in common...i admit the bible has incurred damage by ppl looking out for themselves but instead of asking is it wholly from god, we should ask, what did god leave us within the bible?
