that 10 bolt rear still holding up? im thinking about doing this same swap with my 07 classic 4.3, you have to get a shaft made when you swaped in that 700r4? id like to keep my auto but all the computer BS isnt worth it.overall awesome truck man
@JeepsterBrad, So far the 10 bolt hasn't had any problems. What shaft are you talking about for the 700? It was a direct swap for me. I didn't have any problems. I would keep the auto you have now if I were you. The computer will run it just fine. Just my opinion though
@oakley6575 hey im wanting to do this to my truck but im new to this stuff. me and my dad are going to build one for my truck. i have same year truck and engine as you did but im not really sure where to start. what would be a good block to start with and did you have to bypass the computer or anything if so how any help would be appreciated
and if you would
would you make me a list of everything i need to get and have done to make this work thanks
@mnelson6688 better flow mufflers and cats no matter what u do it has some restrictions in return u loose a bit of power in some states u have to have mufflers and cats. instead of cutting them off everytime u street or strip race with a flick of a switch u bypass them, like me help with the sleeper car so it sounds stock u think he didnt do much i got this race in the bag
@oakley6575 Go figure. Its sad all these ''exhaust shops'' that dont know how to weld worth a damn. I had a shop bastardize a $450 downpipe when I wanted them to weld a bung for a wideband on. There excuse was that the bung was aluminum and the DP was SS. I had to show them the package that clearly said SS. Sorry for the rant, but needless to say I do my own welding now. Haha Nice truck by the way. What are the details on it?
@nickoudumho Some of the stainless is hard to weld with carbon steel. I welded on some ss exhaust tips to my truck and because the ss was so thin it burned right through. you can test the quality of ss with a magnet, the better the ss the less or non magnetic property's. Surgical ss instruments has the best ss quality.
since most ss shit is made in china, you better be a good welder to make it work. BTW if the muffler shop dude could not identify the difference between ss and aluminum he is a
@2xchrome, actually they don't leak at all. The exhaust shop burnt a hole though my pipe when they installed these cutouts. The hole is fixed now and they don't leak.
I got a silly question. I have been thinking about getting the QTP cuttouts for my vortec max. Will doing that affect my AF ratios so it need another custom tune?
quick question how big of a pain in that ass was the 383 swap due to all the electronics envolved with the motor 4.3 as the original motor, cuz Ive just plucked a Lq4 in to my rcsb and with the nelson tune, cam, LT headers, built 4l60E, magnaflow exhuast, and banks cold air intake, I can honestly say I HATE EFI its to fucking glitchie and never runs good in the cold weather, any advice would be great, nice truck by the way!!
My truck was easy to build cause we used a real SBC. The block was made in 1979. I put a carb on top so the motor doesn't use any electronics. The only thing that is plugged into the motor is the oil pressure sensor from the V6, which was direct replacement into the old block, and same with the water temp sensor. Both sensors screwed right into the sbc making it simple to get my gauges working properly. The whole swap was strait forward and easy. Thanks
Thanks, and yes it still has a holley carb on top. F.A.S.T just came out with a EFI system that is direct replacement for a carb. It fits on top a a 4150 manifold and it is self tuning. I talked to a rep at SEMA last week about the system and it seems cheap and as easy as EFI gets. It is called F.A.S.T EZ-EFI System.
It was pretty easy. Strait forward if you know what your doing. The logical thing to do is put a built 6.0L in with fuel injection and make it all computerized but that's nothing special. I just used the sensors from my V6 and pluged them into my 383. Pretty strait forward. Thanks
This is INCREDIBLE sounding. I just have a regular Silverado, nothing special, but if I only had the money then..... Really, that's some nice work there. It reminds me of the "Dukes of Hazzard" from when I was a kid. I always loved the sound of the General Lee. How difficult was the switch from fuel injection to carburetor? Was it much cheaper than taking a 6.0l and massaging it and putting that in? Again, great job.
i have a 2003 Tahoe with a 383 Stroker in it and it sounds just like this but i have 22" kmc Rockstars black and i have burnt porches and cobras in it this motar is bad ass
yea i have bin tryin to get videos o fit on here but my video camera is messin up on my computer but yea this motar makes my tahoe hall and my tahoe is droped a 2/3 so it looks nice coast me about 8000 for the motar my dad got it from a friend
The exhaust exits right after the headers and before the muffler. Makes it loud and some claim up to 25 extra horsepower. I run about 0.25 seconds faster in the quarter mile with the cutouts open.

@XXXblacklavenderXXX, Like $50 or so. They did a horrible job as you can tell in the video. They don't know how to weld i guess.
