Check out the Rollover Study - google "tractorFY1" and study the 5 pages in the first hit.

Without ROPS and seatbelt, the operators would die - no time to think about how to "jump clear". If you poke around there are many survivor stories.

Worse than the seatbelt (cause that only affects the operator) is leaving it in neutral. Never trust the brake so never leave any vehicle in neutral, Automatic in Park and Standards in either 1st or low reverse (opposite to any incline you are on). Not doing this and on day you'll see a vehicle u just used run away and hit someone or something.

I wish someone would ban these idiotvillage vids before someone does get killed (I think I've only ever seen one that was reasonable).

You really have no clue what you're talking about at all. If you're operating an older machine without ROPS or you have the ROPS folded down you do not wear a seatbelt. That is because if the machine were to flip you would not have time to undo the seatbelt and escape being crushed. In the case of a machine with ROPS, such as the one in this video, the safest place for the operator in the event of a rollover is inside the machine so therefore a seatbelt is worn.

Most older tractors do not have that kind of parking brake and you can just leave them in gear. If you have a blade or some other implement that digs into the ground, that will hold the tractor.
