  • To continue on my comment below. Thats why the Western Empire fell. Eastern Empire broke off from Western Empire due to similiar reasons probably. Didnt look into it. Thats why they divided the Roman Empire into 2 territories. West and East Roman Empire. Most likely due to differences about "micromanagement" or too big to command and was looked at sophisticated to manage?

Im too big for my "briches". Who is that guy saying that? I know hes not talking about me. Fucking retard.

  • Comment removed

  • Wasnt just assassinating politicians and diplomacy and deploying troops to hold the front lines. Fucking mob was getting out of control. I cant stand pee'ons, I mean civilians.

Thats why ROME had their ELITE Legionnaires (Praetorians and Urban Cohorts) guarding ROME (city). Supposivly Roman Legionnaires were not allowed to come into Rome or cities? Not sure about that. But later on Legionnaires were allowed to come into Rome after something happened.

  • To continue below. When Alexander the Great conquered territory after territory into ARYAN lands... I think Alex was Aryan not sure. The Generals did something with women to keep the RULING BLOODLINE or HEIRARCHY there for government? Cleopatra was Greek and she lived in Egypt. She was related to Alexander the Great? Maybe this was just coincidence. I mean after a long journey traveling. Id want to have sex too with a woman.

  • Strategy has changed now through "RELATIONS". Now these days, we dont conquer territory after territory. Its something else kinda.

Empire was too big and word to get put out took too long? 2 RULERS took over and seperated from the other Empire. West and East empire. Both didnt like each other either haha. West falled and East was still standing. I think both had their own religion along with government system. Alot of shit was going on in Western Empire as well in East empire. Society?

  • The best summary of the decline of rome -i've seen on yt! Good work

  • this is what is happening in america today. or is imminent

  • @MrRaven92 Not if Ron Paul is elected

  • @MrRaven92 yes, Canadian tribes will come pouring down on the US and lay siege on Washington.

  • @TheTokkin i was referring to the economic factors that contributed to the empire's failure. deficit spending to be precise.

  • @MrRaven92 the Roman state could not deficit spend because they could not issue treasury bills: they had not developed that kind of capacity for deficit spending. One of the main reasons for the romes fall was the loss of tax revenue to invading barbarians. Continuous Roman civil wars distracted Roman armed forces from the defense of its frontiers. If the Romans had developed American style deficit spending, their state could have been much more responsive to many difficult situations.

  • @TheTokkin so you're saying deficit spending is fine? we are screwing over the chinese and everyone else in the world we are borrowing from. just because the US dollar is the contemporary reserve currency, doesn't mean that we should be allowed to spend other nation's money while we keep DEFICIT SPENDING.

Also, the only reason other countries permit this abuse is because of our global military dominance. if we weren't the big kids on the block, we would have collapsed just like the romans.

  • @MrRaven92 Hey when I talk about stuff like that, I don't say "we". By saying "we" it seems you think you're included. You're not.

That's why they do whatever the hell they like and rape the world and your liberties.

  • @MrRaven92 yeah.Canadian barbarians from the north rape the americans and plunder the capital

  • Greed and pride did them in

  • He left Chibitalia all alone!!!! :'(

  • It did fall

  • It NEVER fell. Read the Book of Daniel

  • Do you have a link to an article about this with the graphs and everuything i am using this for a research project. MTpunk90@gmail.com

  • If we want to avoid a similar fate, it's in our best interest to elect Ron Paul as our next president.

  • @qwexas

Hopefully he will put in effect long term plans besides the beneffits of short term economic growth.

A huge change in American culture is needed more than change in politics. Are americans willing to give up driving huge cars that consume too much of a dying resource?can citizens put up the resources to live mindfull , like urban farming? can they keep a low population growth with 1 child a family? How r retirment pensions going to be figured out?

  • @SOH805 I think Americans are too optimistic, trusting the government to take care of them. If we are forced to face consequences without Uncle Sam bailing us out, we'll be more careful and live more responsibly. I think we need smaller government to force us to be more independent and to realize we don't need all the luxuries. I think people should save money for retirement, and family or community should take care of the elderly. We will if the government doesn't.

  • @qwexas

Every Strong Nation must have a Strong Government... Americas(also ther rest of the worlds-except sweeden) real government has almost vanished and been replaced by the CHICAGO BOYS,Politicos and free market nuts. We are pretty much back to the pre depression years when the oligarchs ruled the economies it took strong government intervention to set things right once TR came into power and again with FDR , yet the media potrayed them as wanabee commies to scare the ppl.

  • @SOH805 We don't really have a free market. We have government bailouts. Otherwise our companies would be able to fail. If they don't want to fail they better be careful. Our government feels like it needs its hands in everything. It needs to be involved in business, education, every aspect of our life. This makes government weaker by making it too busy and wasting $ resources. Our government would be stronger if they were more selective about getting involved in things.

  • @qwexas

WOW! the free market is awesome.

buy low sell high, produce nothing/

buy with the greenback while its still worth something.

  • @qwexas Populism isn't really what is needed in todays world but neither is liberterianism ,hopefully a smart combo of both would do fine, but will it be possible ?

Banks must be community based and only be used to invest and grow institutions, they should not to have corporate bonds just to mainipulate incomes and to make scams.

Retirement is a scary topic that holds no full right answer at the moment but pop. growth isn't solution.elederly should be highly valued citizens.

  • @SOH805 I think a lot of population growth is due to stupid, irresponsible people having unprotected sex with multiple partners. The last people we want more of, breed the most. If we got religious people to stop pushing abstinence and got everybody using birth control, maybe we would slow it down. Another reason for the growth is people aren't dying like they used to, but nothing ethical we can do about that.

  • @qwexas I dont think birth control pills are the best answer. I can only imagine what that really does to the body.

Everything that you put into you that isn't natural usually isnt good. Splenda, Birth control pills, Breast implants (I like real boobs) no just really things that have chemicals that are not supose to be there. Hard to explain, sorry.

Abstinence is really the best answer for what you want.

  • @1TopGunPaintballer Abstinence works great in theory, but for it to work, people have to do it. Some people are irresponsible and have unprotected sex with everybody they meet, give birth to 15 kids they aren't prepared to raise, go on welfare and take advantage of money taken through taxes by people who have been more responsible. Unless you know a way to keep those people abstinent, the best thing is to give them birth control.

  • @qwexas People that have a lot of kids are not irresponsible just because of number of kids. Most of people dont want to have a lot children because they are laisy:children is responsibility no time and money for going out ,holiday abroad etc.For many people entertaiment became more important than children.150 years ago we didnt have pensions system so children were their "pension" .People didnt have social security NHS benefits, rights to be sick at workplace and managed to have a lot children..

  • @garden2010city I don't mean all people who have lots of kids. I mean those who can't afford it, and aren't willing to put in the effort to raise them. If you don't want to do all the work of parenting, fine, but don't have kids. If you want kids, fine, as long as you take care of them. In my mind, having children is signing a contract to take care of them. I have no problem with someone having lots of kids, as long as they have the resources to provide, and are willing to do the work.

  • Respond to this video...

its really a bigger issue than a loss of jobs/immirgration/health care/

the long term issues seem like they can set our living standards to that of modern romania or bosnia if they are not adressed correctly right now.can senior citizen politicos understand that? yes hopefully somebody can?? blike a LBJ , FDR ,TDR ...

but making everything from schools, health, PRIVATE seems looney.Hoopefully the labor force will not be replaced by A.I's in the future.

  • @SOH805 My main concern is excessive gov spending, like the ongoing war or terror. We're giving foreign aid to everybody when we're in debt to China, printing more paper money to keep us going when it endangers the value of the dollar. I think government-funded public schools are failing, our kids are some of the dumbest of all industrialized countries. Private means competition. Competition means motivation toward excellence. Fed-funded means mediocrity.

  • Neat! Your really know your stuff.

  • 2000 years from now there will be history lessons about America's fall and decline due to debasement of currency, costly wars, political instability, and deficit spending.

The mistakes in History repeats itself!

  • @yTubeBlowsBigBalls

America is following the footsteps of Colonial Britan. We are more likely to lose influence in the world and damage it for everybody just for expansion in military/economy.If we fall the whole world falls and then a Napolean and hitler is likely to re appear in the next 30 years within the viscinities of america look out for latin america or asia pacific or canada to challenge for supremacy tommorow.

  • @yTubeBlowsBigBalls well no empire is eternal :P

  • @yTubeBlowsBigBalls Well maybe, bzt as the video shows - the ultimate downfall was preceded by a series of assasinations, which left the Empire in disarray which led to vulnurablility.

  • Europe and America are next ;s

  • The paralells to our current situation are uncanny!

  • Emperor Gallienus bearly ever gets mentioned nor the work that he done to try and fix some of the problems the Empire had so kudos for that. One other thing about Gallienus you might want to have mentioned was in a period where most Emperor would be around for a couple of years at the most he was Emperor for a good 15 years which is quite remarkable given the track record of he's predecessors and successors.

While he never fixed the problems he did lay the ground work for more stable future.

  • haha my name's tiberius

  • i think the main reson they fall is Christianity, they just lost there ruthlesnes making the invader more prone to attack since they dont fear them. they also lost there will to fight too and it become worse and worse also there government was really bad, the first few emperor was good but they just become corrupted as time go on

  • @badcop2009 Christianity was a minor point - if a point at all. Having the Empire constantly wracked by civil war, a declining economy and strong enemies at the borders were the reasons for the collapse.

  • @alanheath they even have a civil war is because of christianity, and civil war lead to declin economy and ebabarian attack

  • @badcop2009 that wouldn't really make sense, since the Roman Empire eventually converted to Christianity

  • @vichewy why woundt it make sense the roman convert to christianity some disagree civil war they split and they collapse

  • @badcop2009 Disease and economic problems were the main cause of the Roman Empire. With the bubonic plague and small pox, the empire lost a quarter of it's population within 600 years, causing the economy to contract, and the government to become unstable.

Then Constatine moved the capital to Constantinople. This created the Western and Eastern Roman Empires. The Western Empire fell, Christianity became the official religion and the Eastern half was renamed the Byzatine Empire.

  • @vichewy yes the black death is one of the problem but it is not the main causee if you watch the video you will see that most of the emperor died because of there soldier. the cause of that is religion and since there emperor died the roman have civil war and they split. with civil unrest, territory to protect and the babarian they collapse

  • @badcop2009 The Roman Empire fell mainly because of the contracting of the economy, due to the rapid death of the population caused by a series of epidemics. the contracting economy caused peasant rebellions, and made the government really unstable. Roman soliders killed the emperor because they weren't getting paid as much as they did before. Christianity wasn't a major cause in this at all.

  • @vichewy the the black death doesnt event started back then if you search it on google you will see that the plage started in 134 and the roman split in 300 something a.d so you cannot use that as an arguement.

  • @badcop2009 I never said the black death, I just said bubonic plague, which one did start up in the Roman Empire. It wasn't as big as the black death however. Small pox is another disease/epidemic that happened in the fall of the Roman Empire. Due to these epidemics, the Roman Empire's population fell by at least a quarter. Which is bad because that's like, losing 25% of your workforce right there.

  • @vichewy but disease doesnt choice who to kill. if they lost 25 percent workforce then they would also lost 25 percent of army too so then why is it that soldier kill there own emperor then if not because of religion which is a big problem back then and is why they split.

  • @badcop2009 in my AP World History book, it says that they lost 25% of the workforce purely through disease.

  • @vichewy YES BUT IF THEY LOST 25 PERCENT OF WORKFORCE THEY SHOULD ALSO LOST 25 PERCENT OF THERE ARMY WHICH WOULD BALANCE THING OUT

  • @badcop2009 But they still wouldn't be able to create the money they need for the their infrastructure.

  • @vichewy then dont make more infratructure

  • @badcop2009 The Roman Empire did have a period of bubonic plague. This is not to be confused with the black death period in middle age Europe. This was a smaller epidemic which did not kill as many people in comparison to the middle ages simply because Romans lived in more sanitary living conditions and were generally much cleaner than people in the middle ages.

  • @3dwardcullen69

really? i thought the roman live in close quarter with other people and it spread desease but that beside the point. as repeated from above comment if the roman lost large portion of there workforce they would also lost about the same in army size which decrease the cost. it might stop infrasucture but that alone cant destroy the roman. and why the disease dont spread to other country beside roman i think disease alone cannot destroy the roman empire

  • @badcop2009 Its not about the tight living space the Romans may have lived in, its their unrivaled infrastructure which kept them more hygienic than their dark age descendants. The Romans had public baths, underground sewers, and plumbing systems which brought fresh water to every home. They also bathed and groomed themselves. None of the things I mentioned were available in medieval times (aside from in Constantinople), and Europeans in those times didn't bother washing themselves.

  • @vichewy The Eastern Roman Empire was not renamed the Byzantine Empire and I hope you're well aware of this. The name "Byzantine" was hocked up by German historians desperate to differentiate the Romans living in medieval times from the Romans which lived in the Western Roman Empire. This name sprang about in the 19th century, and was only chosen in an effort to relate the Greek speaking Romans to the ancient Greek settlement of Byzantium. The eastern Romans never called themselves Byzantines.

  • @3dwardcullen69 I didn't know really actually. My book didn't take note of that. Thanks for clarifying.

  • My favorite part was how as they got away from a silver-reserve system the inflation went up and the cost of running our inflated government was getting out of hand....sound familiar?

  • Government should not be seen as a burden. Government makes development possible. Government builds a road, this opens up land for development. This is just one example. The real burden is the concentration of wealth particularly amongst those who are not productive. The financial sector in particular. This was a huge problem in Rome. The creditors had absolute powers to make claims on wealth of debtors and debts were never written down to ability to pay. The rentiers were in command.

  • The British Empire was done in by strict adherence to the gold standard and sound money policies as well as the austerity and deficit cutting known as the Geddes' Axe. The damage done in the '20s and early '30s by these policies destroyed Britain's ability to project significant power.

  • @lordhighexecutioner was it war debit.

  • Western civilization is about to fall once again.

  • Please tell me the reason so many Roman emperors were killed by their own men :) I'm writing an essay.

  • @JohanTW well the short answer: because the emperors were ass holes. the long answer: well since you're writing an essay you might want to do some actual research.

  • @danhabsfan9 Also, you might want to consider the fact that FUCK YOU!!! :)

  • @JohanTW lol. calm down man. i was just jokin' around.

  • id rather watch this than read about it. reading is so boring, videos are much more attention keeping.

  • Now I m mad....I m gonna kick some Quadi,Berber, Frakish,Alemanni,Saxon,Pictis,Gothic ass.....and off course I wont spare that usurper Procopius!!!!!

  • Gally-anus.

  • great job but the sassnid persians were not barbarians

  • the familiarity is striking, but thats what happens when history is distorted and no longer taught properly.

  • in my opinion i really can't see how americans can draw a comparision between the fall of the roman empire and the current state of the U.S.A. different times different circumstances.

  • @Woffled Different times based on what? America witnessed the downfall of the British Empire and even was a small part of it. And eventually prospered, Our nation was always based on a republic and a truly free market we have borders language and culture. All of which are being eroded. We also were always intended to be isolationists while trading with all. We have done great things for others in the world unlike the Romans for mere expansion. Yet we find the same problems emerge.

  • @Woffled different circumstances? yea the unions...thats what is different. the corporations stroking governments cock, and those power elite behind the scenes playing chess with our government.

  • I was watching on our national tv, that, the best gladiator of that time(around 60. ) was as rich as the top 20 athletes together right know.. So being gladiator don't mean that you are a slave..

The Romans gave us as no civilization has.. Most of the Western languages is based on Latin, they gave us aquadocks, suwers, many cultural things.. And when they did fall, then came Middle Age(also known as The Dark Age).. Cityies was destroyed, art, science, schools desapierd..

  • Jing

  • what program did you use here?

  • East killed West as usually it's happends:)

  • @LaNazionedellislam

Don't quote me on it, but I believe they're called "Latins" in English because they speak the so called "Roman" (Latin) languages: French, Spanish, Italian, etc. All of those languages are directly descent of Latin.

  • as Roman I'm surprised how Americans are caring about our ancient Empire and how they do not know on the other hand any latin word...by the way why you name the mongrels of South america "Latins" what they have to do about "Latins" (Spaniards, Portuguese, Frenchs, Italics, Rumenians)????

  • Comment removed

  • @LaNazionedellislam Hey jackass I don't appreciate you calling us mongrels. Even though I'm not actually South American, I'm Central American. But still, who's fault is it that we're mongrels, ask yourself that. Our women didn't exactly throw themselves into your arms when you Europeans came here and started wrecking havoc like you do everywhere else you go. How exactly do you think the "mongre" people of Latin America came into existence, huh?

  • This video screams USA.. just my opinion.

  • You did a great job

  • thanks for sharing your God given gift of teaching

  • Better than the soundless animations by far.

  • What would the world be like if the Romans wouldve succeded at world domination... Sounds great, higher standards than our shit capitalist ways.

  • good job bro

  • I really like this - it makes the situation much clearer.

  • All ancient empires went through cycles: an advancing empire, stagnates, farms consolidate and use slave labor, slave labor is not as productive, so food and tax revenue fall, results in enormous unemployment of freemen, corruption increases, the weakened empire is conquered by barbarians.

  • @barron8006 Romans did not have slaves.

  • @bookercreator

I assure you, it was one of the largest slave empires.

  • @bookercreator romans didnt have slaves? i dunno most history books would disagree do you have any references?

  • @bookercreator romans had plenty of slavery. It wasn't just criminals and warriors fighting in the Coliseum and the gladiator games. Slaves were put in as well as a bunch of other groups for entertainment (really, anybody who gets put in the gladiator matches becomes a slave)

  • really well done presentation

  • this is the best vid of its kind iv seen u great vid

  • It alwAys makes me sad to see Egypt's fall

  • no2: the true questions would be: why would the emperor lack on silver so they had to "print" value less coins? what happened with the old coins consting enough silver? the answer: the economy was decreasing so dramatically that no one could pay their duties is by far too easy and not precise enough.

and last: you cannot - absolutely not - compare the situation then to our situation today. the differences in societiy, ecnonomy and power are by far too different.

  • thre facts are correctly given: increasing number of provinces in order to weaken their governors. declining silver within the coinige. and a political instability on the top level - but this last fact was already since almost 400 years the case.

all the rest is pure speculation. there are none what so ever information about gdp or tax income. lovely drawn lines without any real background. the roman army did not fall apart then nor 100 years later. nor did the antique society.

  • migration and immigration killed rome, also heavy taxes, and inflation. the legions became filled with foreigners, like here in america. lol

  • @Rico8458 racist fag

  • Excellent commentary. I liked the graphs, and I see my video is in the relateds, haha.

  • The great plagues of 165 A.D. and 251 A.D. didn't help the Romans either.

  • Thank you very much for that. I especially like when you compared it to todays state of affairs.

As we're all saying here, shame we can't be remembering/learning from Romes mistakes.

  • The Roman Empire has always fascinated me, it's a shame we have to do Modern History at A Level, it's so boring.

  • Great !

  • This kind of thing should really wake Americans up because if we continue on the current economical/governmental deficit spending, the same type of thing may just happen to us.

A video like this should be a big reminder and a call to change and adapt our economic policies.

  • damn man does this sound like us here in america.

  • History tends to repeat itself.

  • @Cytacon down with the elite builderburgers!

  • @DJ80s Well it's inevitable. Every empire falls eventually and America is basically the Rome of the 21st century. It happened to Egypt, it happened to Rome...it's just a matter of time.

  • @DJ80s why do people compare the roman empire to the usa.. its so diffrent in soooooo many ways and then similarites it shares are things it also shares with other countries :S

  • @DJ80s It will inevitably happen to us

  • @DJ80s Naah, we're ignorant bastards. I haven't met one person who appreciates history, and they could give less than two shits about what happened in the past; even the ones that do appreciate history rarely go before the late 18th century and the foundation of the US. We tend to think that none of this 'ancient' stuff applies to us whatsoever. Oh how ironic it will be when this happens to us despite our every attempt at warning some of these dumbshits. *cough*sorry, rantover*cough*

  • @DJ80s

Let the system collapse, and let a newer and better system form. Of course a competent leader will have to guide this change, because of the leader is incompetent we may just see 50 new countries.

  • VERY NICE MOVIE INDEED ;)

  • Very good!

  • very nice man, im a huge fan

always makes me sad to see Rome's downfall :(

  • Good job as always.
