Now that I've seen series 5 and 6 I have to say that I may have commented a bit to soon last time. Matt Smith is doing a very good job as the doctor and now I'm actually looking forward to the 7'th series :) So. I take back some of the things I wrote in the last comment BUT I still miss Tennant and I think it will be very difficult for any new doctor to top him.
@kenshibow This is actually why i love Dr. Who. None of the doctors are supposed to be replacements, in my opinion. That's why they regenerate with different personalities, quirks, and catchphrases. Like a parent/owner will say - you don't replace a child/pet... but you can love them equally and differently.
Can anyone give me strength to get over the series 1-4 of doctor who and accept that it's over? I'm sitting here with the worst heartache ever. I've only seen 4 episodes of season 5 but I can't get the same emotional connection to the new doctor and Amy. . .

@PhoenixWormwood137 Well, Ten was good to look at, and she got a peek at a possbile future, but think, Martha saw humanity grow into drug dependent beings, living in the cars, eating recycle waste, with a giant face keeping them alive, and hungry Macro lurking below. I can see someone like Martha wanting to go back to her own time, to her own career, to do her bit to see Mankind have a more promsing future--which is what she did.

I don't know... he's more than just "good to look at," he's epic, he goes around saving the universe, and sometimes it really seems like he needs someone to care. I can definitely see how Martha would have wanted to be around him, like Rose in Bad Wolf, when she can't go back to a normal life and accept that the Doctor is gone. I have to say I prefer Moffat's vision of the Doctor; someone capable of making an enormous mistake (As he almost does in the Beast Below)and someone needing to remember there are other heroes in the world. Martha was, as David T said, pretty dazzling as well. Too bad Ten didn't see it until too late.

I loved Martha Jones; it was a shame that she didn't get a longer run as a proper Companion. That being said, she knew her love for the Doctor would not be reciprocated, so she did what she thought best, and her monologue was one of my favorite ones in television.

Martha and Amy are the best companions. Martha's devotion was incredible, and yet she somehow managed to pull herself away when it was too much for her. Amy is strong willed and determined, yet she has a sad past with people not believing in her views. They're both brilliant characters, if Martha IS a little based off Eponine Thenardier. Donna was OK, but I really didn't feel like there was any depth in her character. And don't get me started on Rose. Yuck, typical fairytale character.

@SakamotoSetsuna Might want to change that Amy and Rory have been the longest they will have been with the doctor 2 seasons now but they are coming back for season 7 so they have been with the doctor for 3 seasons.
In my honest opinion, Rose, even though I love her to death, is not the best female counterpart for le Doctor, and I despised Martha, because she came RIGHT after Rose... TOO SOON. Any other time, I would have immediately LOVEDD her. Another catch.. I really REALLY wish she hadn't fallen in love with the Doctor. She could've been so great... beautiful, smart, funny, brave, simply perfect. But she had to fall in love with him... not that I blame her ;) And Donna? Amazing. I love Catherine Tate.
@white0nerdy i'll have to disagree whilst the character has always had potential, i feel like Moffat just puts her there because she is attractive, she doesn't really add anything, its mostly Rory that is the herioc risk taker willing to give it his all, while she sits in the background, like i said there are moments which show how good she could be, the end of series 5 and 'the girl who waited', but when youre companion is made into fashion model you see that she is just eye candy nothing more
Martha was good as a full time companion, but it was after she left, when she got really badass. And she gets extra points, because she was the only one of 10's companions, who actually walked away. She realised that being with Doctor is not healthy for her, so she left him. And that's what makes her special.
Rose was best with Eccleston, even though Rose and Tennant were my favorite characters, they didn't make as good a fit :o. Martha's my second favorite companion by far though, and she has the best theme too :D. I can't believe they kicked her off after ONE season D:
I do miss Martha. She should have signed on to Torchwood. I like Amy as the new companion. I do like Rory, but I could really take or leave him...the redhead on the other hand.... wow....lol. I don't like Smith though. He'd have made a great Doctor years ago, but the character has evolved since then.
a seriously underrated companion, both her and Donna were the best, i'll count Jack, but I always thought Rose was better with Eccelston than she was with Tennant. As for the new series Amy is eye candy with no personality,but Rory is a legend

Martha was my favourite companion, joint with Rory, then Dona, then Jack, then Amy, then Rose, this list excludes K9 and any other companions I haven't seen.

Actually... Donna did the most for the Doctor out of all his companions. So yes, I'd say that "Donna is the best companion" is a fact, not an opinion.

@SakamotoSetsuna Might want to change that Amy and Rory have been the longest they will have been with the doctor 2 seasons now but they are coming back for season 7 so they have been with the doctor for 3 seasons.

In my honest opinion, Rose, even though I love her to death, is not the best female counterpart for le Doctor, and I despised Martha, because she came RIGHT after Rose... TOO SOON. Any other time, I would have immediately LOVEDD her. Another catch.. I really REALLY wish she hadn't fallen in love with the Doctor. She could've been so great... beautiful, smart, funny, brave, simply perfect. But she had to fall in love with him... not that I blame her ;) And Donna? Amazing. I love Catherine Tate.

I'm on the fence about Martha, but I love her theme song. And as always, it matches her personality impressively well. Love the Doctor Who scores!

@white0nerdy i'll have to disagree whilst the character has always had potential, i feel like Moffat just puts her there because she is attractive, she doesn't really add anything, its mostly Rory that is the herioc risk taker willing to give it his all, while she sits in the background, like i said there are moments which show how good she could be, the end of series 5 and 'the girl who waited', but when youre companion is made into fashion model you see that she is just eye candy nothing more

Martha was good as a full time companion, but it was after she left, when she got really badass. And she gets extra points, because she was the only one of 10's companions, who actually walked away. She realised that being with Doctor is not healthy for her, so she left him. And that's what makes her special.

Rose was best with Eccleston, even though Rose and Tennant were my favorite characters, they didn't make as good a fit :o. Martha's my second favorite companion by far though, and she has the best theme too :D. I can't believe they kicked her off after ONE season D:

I do miss Martha. She should have signed on to Torchwood. I like Amy as the new companion. I do like Rory, but I could really take or leave him...the redhead on the other hand.... wow....lol. I don't like Smith though. He'd have made a great Doctor years ago, but the character has evolved since then.

a seriously underrated companion, both her and Donna were the best, i'll count Jack, but I always thought Rose was better with Eccelston than she was with Tennant. As for the new series Amy is eye candy with no personality,but Rory is a legend
