  • I stack one ounce silver rounds and silver dimes. I'm in for the long run, so the drop of 2011 doesn't worry me. It just means my fiat currency is buying even more now, and the stack keeps growing. 30 dollars American per ounce right now.

  • well now it is 1/1/2012........time for a update. so much for the news report. looks like all's well that ends well.

  • OK I found this late but you could say... "THE EAGLES HAVE LANDED!" ;)

  • How is that silver liberty the 'iconic silver coin of the WORLD'?

  • @toweronepower

That's my opinion, so I don't have any links for you to prove it.

But you might note that there are more silver eagles than any other bullion coins put together, many times over.

  • @drutter That much is true.

  • The government is full of well you know S&%T!!!!!!! What else can you call it. Ughhh lies? ugghh fibs? ugghhhh maybe they are drunk and cant speak clearly. Ughhh well I think S&%T covers it pretty well. If i did that when I was in court in front of a judge he would hold me in contempt and throw away the key!!!!!!!!

US Government you are falling into line with history repeating itself

  • goto google, type in USGS silver... itll be the first link that comes up...

    read up...

    Government Stockpile: None

  • its really wired because when i ordered one of these coin last year on dec i didn't come and its been five months! why won't they give i paid a good $32.94 for that i hate this it also i pre-order a 2011 and i was suppoed to get a month ago and i've been going to the post office lately and the same answer. You have no mail sir. Hello i've been waiting for 4and half months

  • @drutter - You really should watch the latest Kitco News video. I couldn't believe what I just heard.

    youtube.com/watch?v=uMtilF_v1TI

  • I hope the us mint for 2011 makes the silver eagle proofs and burnished coins. I wish they would make more reverse proofs too.

  • Houston .... The Eagle has CRASHED!!!!!!!

  • hey drutter, did you ever understand silvermeister's post? the "uncirculated" eagles are special silver eagles made from burnished blacks distinguished from regular silver eagles by a W mint mark. look on the back of your eagles. there is no W mint mark. they havent minted uncirculated eagles since 2008. burnished eagles were minted from 2006-2008 and havent been made since.

  • Ive heard that the US mint has to import silver to produce coins! Pretty sad! Keep stacking!

  • They are only out of silver for uncirculated silver eagle coins. Silver bullion coins are still being produced.

  • 'Helicopter' Ben Bernanke will become Ben Barenaked when the world sees that the emperor is insolvent and wears no clothes. The unconstitutional Federal Reserve as "Federal" as Federal Express has bankrupted this nation. The US Dollar will soon be obliterated. I would heed the advice of Ron Paul and Peter Schiff and start loading up some precious metals before you get left in the dust. It's getting interesting fellow Silver Liberation Army members and fellow Silver Terrorists.

  • @JesusDillinger

Yes, I think it can go to $500 with modest inflation, and the unwinding of long-term manipulation, plus some help from increasing public awareness and the drastic shortage of physical metal.

  • @drutter ...Dude, just e-mail the Refund Centre on the back on the invoice. Write them a letter that says .999 fine metal are tax and duty free under NAFTA. They'll even refund the $5 handling fee. Just write them a letter with the corresponding invoice and supporting documents... They send the refunds out quite quickly. I was impressed, for a gov't office. < 2 weeks refund.

  • Here's a question. Can $500 Ag happen without a currency collapse?

  • Ive ordered from apnea all the time and I never paid taxes because fine silver is a free trade item. You got shaken down buy the government.

  • Rust nevva sleeps ... ha ha ha .

  • J&M has Canadian maples in Vancouver.

  • @daisycutterz

Yup, been calling there regularly. They got some in a couple days ago, and today they had "a few dozen" left. If you want more than 50 you have to preorder from the next shipment. There's a lot of people prepaid for portions of the next shipment. I tried my other 3 main sources today and they're all out and will be for weeks they said. Thanks for the info.

  • Comment removed

  • The Eagles claim to be .9995 fine silver. .0005 percent copper. but now i dont know.

  • Just wanted to let you know that I went to the only bullion dealer in calgary today.

its a three week wait for Silver maples....

  • @Javablack04

    Thanks for the update, Calgary!

  • Hi Drutter great vid as always.I just made my first purchase from Canadian Silver Bullion cant wait to hold that indica!!! Thanks for giving the rest of the world a chance to get a hold of the awesome liberty leaf rounds.

  • That was from last year December 2010.

  • @petfancy

And it's still valid today. See truthorfacts' video uploaded a few hours ago. He called the US Mint and the representative confirmed that they're out of silver blanks, and will resume minting Silver Eagles in June at the earliest.

  • "Uncirculated" may have been a poor choice of words. The US mint sells proof silver eagles to the public, but only sells the non-proof or uncirculated eagles to dealers. They're not implying that they could sell circulated coins, they're differentiating the regular eagles from the proofs.

  • @bernardboggins Yes, sorry I implied "in Canada". Are you able to circumvent paying VAT by paying cash at a local coin shop? If not, if you consider it a "premium" and you're able to recoup most of the premium when you sell it, then its probably not that bad. Let say silver is 50 and someone would have to pay 60 from a dealer, if you sell it privately you'd think you should be able to get at least 55. You need to put pressure on your politicians to reverse this policy.

  • It is on the us mint web site.

  • them be some purtty coins you got there. They have a mirror finish. All fiat money will colape very some now. Guns , Food and Silver. Buy them all at any price fiat.

  • good observation on the eagles. a bit worrying , too. I wouldn't put it past the US government to 'dilute' those eagles and say 'hey, where on the coin does it say .999?'.

  • As far as I know eagles have a bit of copper in it.

  • "Fine" means ,999 or higher. Use of the word "fine" is all that is necessary.

  • thats becouse some group in china is makeing fake one and selling them on open market !

there a counterfix ring of silver coins of all kinds !

must of you dont even know you have copy of fake coins !

becouse there wrap in plastic only by the weight you can tell there fake

even then some are made of lead ! and come very close

  • Drutter,i had to laugh at you for a minute when you said the us mint cannot produce any circulated coins, you must not be a numismatic coin collector then, they produce such coins all the time in coin bags, they are coinsidered by coin collectors circulated and not proof coins that are uncirculated.silver eagles & coins in bags or tubes always get nicks or bags marks on them and if and when you get a so called uncirculated coin, from a bag or roll, it will grade ms/pf 70.i hope this helped you !!!

  • I have heard it's more of a bottleneck issue than a true end of the road shortage at this point. Still, the sheer demand outstripping of current supply is encouraging for a true shortage within a decade. In fact, if silver goes up, the remaining supply in the ground will be mined MORE quickly, and true shortages will come about MORE quickly.

  • The united states dollar-i won't even use it, to wipe my beautiful ass :)

Good point on the silver american eagle coins drutter,it does not even say what grade of silver it is, but further checking into that, fine silver is another way of saying .999 silver !!

  • Hmmm thats strange, i never paid Any taxes when i ordered from apmex. packages always have a sticker "All CCI items Duty Free, GST/PST Exempt per GST 300-8, Sec 8 Sch7 PAR 56A" maybe its only tax free in ontario??

  • H O L Y S H I T !

  • Rise

  • Looks like they are trying to get a hold of some silver with no luck... Bottleneck in the supply chain? Either way prices will most certainly ride

  • i already have my 2010s so maybe that part was an accident

  • britannias dont have the purity on the coin either.. and their .958

  • Silver is at $34.36 as I watch this video...up, up and away!!!

  • They can only mint the eagles with USA domestically mined silver...

So has yesterdays ceiling of $34 now become the floor and is the short squeeze really on?

These are hot subjects, for us; most folks are oblivious of course! That might change...

  • New high $34.35

  • I read somewhere that the silver eagle is 6% copper. I know that when I drop a maple or lakota they dent easily. Not a problem dropping an eagle. I'm starting to grow fond of the maple. They are small but pure and proof like aside from having a picture or the eugenics loving queen.

  • Thank you for what you are doing, sir!

  • I looked at the US mint site and was pleased to see they still have plenty of $25.00 U.S. Mint E-Gift Certificates. Phew, thats got to be as good as physical?! Right.

  • Interesting, here we GO. For years people told me that the American Silver Eagle was a bad investment and I keep saying its really a double investment The premiums for American Silver Eagles is going to be huge in the future and people will pay way more than asking. Hmmmm Maybe $15 per coins or way more!!! I win haha

  • I don't think you need to pay that brokerage fee. You can just go sign the papers yourself at customs and then it's no charge. 4 bone a coin is pretty zionist...

  • Silver Philharmonics 1 oz don't have fineness markings too

  • Witness the all power logic of government. Because of demand we will not produce anymore. You see, that is not a causation but a correlation. Now if the all might mind of government stated - 'we will not produce anymore because the supply is exhausted due to high demands', this would be a causation.

Now for the free thinkers unoccupied and not consumed with entertainment, which is not recreation go learn the fucking difference, answer this.

Doesn't no longer produce = no more demand?

  • @Anothercoilgun I do like your "Orwellian Double Speak" line of thought. It is both madness and brilliance all at once.

  • May they be out of all things and wither away.

  • I'll clear this up. There are 3 different types of ASE's...

    1) Bullion

    2) Uncirculated (equiv. of 'specimen' in other countries)

    3) Proof

The uncirculated (burnished finish) Eagle is a collectors version of the Silver Eagle that was minted from 2006-08, it had a price point between that of the proof and bullion versions, and has not been minted since 2008 due to planchet shortages (special planchets are used). Unlike the bullion version, it DOES carry a mintmark.

  • @TheSilverMeister Both uncirculated and proof coins use higher stamping forces than the bullion coins and proofs are struck twice. Far fewer coins are minted from each die pair for both uncirculated and proof coins as compared to bullion coins.

The uncirculated and proof coins are both numismatic products that are specially minted, and individually handled and packaged for sale to collectors. They are never allowed to touch each other during production, unlike their bullion counterparts.

  • With that kind of tax, it may make sense for you to drive into the states! Have you crunched the numbers on that?

  • I think they changed the wording of the law with

The Coin Modernization, Oversight, and Continuity Act of 2010 Rather than the US Mint being required to produce the coins in "quantities sufficient to meet public demand", they would be required to produce the coins in "qualities and quantities that the Secretary determines are sufficient to meet public demand'.

  • your looking at a very old report, like i said its been there since way last year.guess you havent been on the site for a year.they dont sell to public anyway, they only sell to authorized dealers.

  • @18wheeler76

Never been on the site before at all. The only reason I went there was to confirm the report put out by Patriot News Radio today, saying they just got word the US Mint has suspended 2011 Eagles. Did you miss parts of this video, or are you just pretending you don't understand?

  • @drutter yes i missed alot of the video because i can usually never make it thru a whole one,but like i said that has been on there site for over a year, even if they were avial the normal joe cant buy them from the site, they only sell to authorized dealers, you brought up very good points about it being a law but still they dont make them.and there site and the coins they offer sucks compared to the perth mint and the rcm.the us mint has mostly garbage.

  • @drutter didn't scan through all the comments, but in case no one said so, the law requirement is to produce from domestic silver mines, so if there's other market silver somehow, somewhere, and there's domestic silver mines + stock the US mint is required by law to draw down reserves+mines on US soil before attempting to get silver from anywhere else. I'm told once a long time ago you could get your own 100% mint coins made bringing your OWN silver of any source as well, long, long ago

  • Just thought I let you know I purchased some and told them where I got the info from.

  • Drutter, the U.S. mint uses the term "uncirculated" to distinguish between standard UC Eagles and Proof Eagles. That is how mint lists them on there ASE coin page. It is a bit confusing out of context, but I don't think it is intentionally misleading. I posted a link below in another comment to a page on the mint site and it sort of explains why they are not currently producing ASE , but it says 2010. So what about 2011 ASE? I don't know.

  • catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&categoryId=13738&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10191&top_category=10191

  • New highs baby, new highs as we speak.

  • The legal definition of "Fine Silver" in the US is silver having a purity of .999 minimum. By having the words fine silver on the coin it is telling you that it is at least .999 fine. Also, since the coin is "technically" legal tender, it is one of the few US coins that does indeed tell you its purity. Splitting hairs I know, but that's what governments do (create confusion).

  • PTG!!!

I fuckin love that show! get me my tinfoil helmet!

  • Ok, I haven't read through all of the comments so you have probably been informed of this, but... The Mint produces SE's for general bullion usage and they produce two collector's versions that are Proof and Uncirculated. It is this collectors version that was not produced in 2010. They were originally not going to produce proofs, but they ended up doing so at the end of the year. Cheers!

  • They also produce proof coins. So it sounds like they will produce proof coins.

  • Why would you buy your silver from the Federal Government?

  • @YouSayYouWantA

Federal governments are the only entities able to produce silver with a face value, for one thing. There are several reasons. Additionally, the Constitution of the USA and other countries requires that their federal governments mint silver coins.

Nothing wrong with privately minted silver bars and rounds/tokens though.

  • @drutter was that a bullion tax or non-specific?

  • @ytgv3fc7

You mean the duty tax I was charged for importing the Indicas? The invoice doesn't even say, just says "GST/HST value for duty". I'm working on an appeal, both because I can't really afford $147, and also on principle. Tax on money just seems so wrong.

  • @drutter the entire system is wrong. I hope you win. Unfortunately I think it may look like the guildf40 argument about silver VAT: a currency coin, minted, is not a normal round, so an argument can be used. By logical conclusion a round, not a currency coin, has no such protection vs tax.

  • @drutter I ordered silver overseas and was charged $60 from Fed Ex. I disputed it because they shoudn't be able to HST it and I got off.

  • @drutter The customs bill is a mistake. They didn't fill out the paperwork properly when they shipped to you. 999 silver and gold are NOT taxable in Canada. The classification of goods is usually the error. Should have been marked "fine silver .999 purity". Then it would have breezed through customs and arrived with no bill attached. Simply fill out the appeal, send it in with a copy of the receipt (proof), and you'll get a cheque in 2-3 weeks.

  • @YouSayYouWantA Federal Reserve is a private the US government is total different look up 11110

  • ASE's are 99.93% silver / 00.07% copper. I hear that 99.99% pure silver for industrial use is really hard to come by these days and solar panel makers are having a hard time. Maybe there is an extra bonus with those maples? I like those Andean cat rounds at 99.999% fine too.

  • that is very interesting. I don't think it is due to silver shortage but possibly shortage on the blanks the U.S eagles are printed on? Your guess is as good as mine. By the way, the liberty leafs are pretty cool looking. I think i might order myself a few rounds.

  • drutter, .999 silver is tax exempt no matter what country it comes from. However the shipper needed to file some paperwork to identify the contents as .999 silver bullion. You should be able to have this charge reimbursed.

  • @silvermaple70

I'm going to appeal it that's for sure. I really wasn't banking on an extra $3.68 per round.... *facepalm*

But yeah, paying tax on money is idiotic. If these were numismatic graded coins or something then I'd understand, but this is 999 silver bullion pure and simple. Really nice design, but bullion nevertheless!

  • Very odd for a mint to state "uncirculated"

Maybe they didn't produce as many coins as they sold last year, but went into the market and bought back coins, then resold them into the market.

    That'd be an interesting story...

  • @continuityofliberty

    No, their distinction is

1 uncirc "coin" (even though their not intended for circulation, supposedly)

and 2 proofs (which aren't considered coins to be circulated ever, but simply for collectibles)

  • @davematherly

    Ah! Good point.

I never buy proofs so I didn't even think of those.

  • The US Mint does not hoard Silver for production. They have to procure inventory on an ongoing basis. The comex is in default. Maybe that's why.

  • That is weird it doesn't say the fineness - I bought 8, 2007 Eagles the other day and that's the first thing I thought.

  • im holding on to my silver for sure!

  • Ultimately, the mint may be forced to cease production altogether on eagles because I believe by law, they can only be made from silver produced in US, not imported. We're already short, so I guess we'll see what becomes of them besides even higher, insane premiums soon.

  • also, not sure if this is why they don't put just 999 on the round but my mint COA card that came with my single Eagles (boxed) says

    weight 1.00 troy oz (31.103g)

content silver 0.999 troy oz (31.072g)

    balance copper

    ??

  • if you scroll down on the us mint's webpage and click product availability it says

06/30/2011 2011 American Eagle Silver Proof Coins

    and

TBD American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin

  • That page has been up for a long while

Its weird but the govt mint never updates there website

I read that last spring, right after I got my first shipment of 2010 Eagles ??

I wondered why they'd be telling me they weren't making what I had just received in the mail, then I realized they were my gov't, and I stopped wondering.

    :\

  • why is this a surprise to you?

  • @detectingupstate "why is this a surprise to you?"

Perhaps because it was wrapped in a package? And a bow was on top? With a card? That said "SURPRISE!" ?

  • @detectingupstate

Because silver bullion is money, and tax on money itself doesn't make sense (and is illegal). Also, because every other time I've done the exact same thing, there was no tax added.

  • fine silver is 999 by definition

  • @stellaconcepts

    ah, of course.

But on my COA card it claims the 1 full troy oz contains 0.999 its weight IN silver and the balance is copper.

How doe this fit in? Are they simply stating that from the full troy oz of mass the amount OF the purilty equals the amount of actual silver... of course they are. I just answered myself. And what's more puzzling is that I keep typing... I'll end it here :)

  • @stellaconcepts would that make 9999 extra fine?

  • You shouldn't have been taxed on buying silver from USA. I buy it all the time and I am never taxed. I live in Ontario. I bet you can get that money back - around here I'd go to Toronto airport where they have an office that you can redeem your unfair taxations.

  • @nmreich I get taxed on about 20% of my imports for some reason. Seems to depend on who the importing agent was. Also here in SASK, I bought 3 of the $20 silver coins from the mint and surprisingly had to pay provincial tax on checkout

  • BTW, "fine silver" means 99.9% pure silver if you google "fine silver definition"

  • I'd love to see a gap up in silver.

  • SILVER BOMB MARCH 11th!!! Buy at least 3 oz!!!

  • Demand has out stripped supply; confirmed!

  • @Seattle206723

Yes. How long are we going to keep pegging the price of scarce, useful, physical silver to the price of an unlimited, useless, fraudulently manipulated ,digital stock called "SLV"? The two have nothing in common other than three letters of their names! And yet we go on trading around our incredibly precious bullion as though it were an imaginary unit in a computer that can be (and is being) created out of thin air whenever needed? Supply and demand puts physical at $300 plus EASY!

  • @drutter when there is a bunch of failure of deliveries

  • @drutter Very True!

  • do you really need to pay tax for that? I heard importing precious metal (>95% pure) is tax free in canada. I have 2010 silver eagle BU version, so I guess that must be a typo of 2011

  • Nice ! Im getting me one of the new Liberty leaves . Sucks they are squeezing the silver now . I think by un-circulated they are implying they maybe will sell coins that they buy off people ? . I really don't like how those coins don't show a silver content .... Would be a good question to ask the mint . I think there will be a few surges of silver supply's hit the market as the price explodes but will not last long as people realize the situation .

  • Sounds like a rumor.

  • @whiskerchild

If you go to usmint * gov, and then click on "Buy American Silver Eagle", you get the page I linked to and read from. It could be a rumor, but if it is, the Mint itself is helping perpetuate it!

  • @drutter Yep. I already did this because I also found the announcement confusing...2010??? Arrrgh. Government workers.

  • seems to be plenty at $2.59 over spot

  • there was announcement that 2010's were being produced anymore a while back. They do it every year. George4title had a 'shortage at the mint' story so that might tell you something about that news item. 2011's are still to be had at least at my dealer. Some of the current shortage is related to mine hedge funds. Good point on the 100 oz. bars. The CPM story about how there ISN'T a shortage is based on an abundance in one single category, 100 oz.'s.

Go Loonie!!! I have currency shares, ah yes!

  • @acuriousbeast Speaking of Loonies--are there any Canadian silver coins with loons on them? With our last name we like to collect anything Looney (ie). And yes, my husband is a shrink and I work in the mental health field. ;D

  • @terilooney Drutter would be your best bet to find that out. My dealer only has the Maple Leafs. My favorite is the moose they used to have on the quarters. Looney, I got a chuckle out of your comment. My last name is Wright but I seldom am, and I'm a Leftie (handed not politically!). I guess we're both the victims of 'Miss Nomers'. My old chiropractor was actually named Dr. Nurse, but what's in a name, a rose by any other... : D

  • @terilooney yes, RCM has 2002 15th Anniversary of the One Dollar Loon 9999 silver Hologram. you can google its image, and also there is a coin with flying loon and olympic symbol, stering silver

  • check out my video on "no tax of bullion imported into Canada" Go after your carrier. You should not be paying tax

  • I believe the Canadian dollar been higher than the US dollar for the last week now.

  • I think they mean the uncirculated version as opposed to "proof" version

  • why would they producing 2010 coins?

  • Fascinating. Yeah, I read on the Daily Reckoning site that the mines aren't producing enough silver for demand. The demand is being met with salvaged/recycled silver. APMEX had no Am. silver eagles available the other day when I checked out their website.

  • Maybe they will still be producing the Proof versions and discontinuing the standard Uncirculated version of the Silver eagle -it's definitely getting interesting -thanks for the update!

  • Just ordered an Indica. Can't wait to get it. Thx.

  • Part of the explanation is that they do not fully quote the law. The silver must be mined in the US, so they are hamstrung. They are required to produce coins from silver that has not yet been mined... Conundrum... hehehe

  • I think Comex called the mint and said hey send us all of your silver rounds. We need some help over here quick. My Eagles also don't have a .999 on them. Maybe someone needs to check them to see if they are real.

  • Philharmonics do not provide the .999 either.

  • lets the skyrocket beginning !

  • @FIP776 And how.

  • You are on watch.

I fonzed this and touched some Eagles :o)

    Nite all

  • Don is famous

  • Good vid man! =D

  • Don Badajoz is a bad ass mo-fo.

  • Even CNBC have reported that silver will go to $130.

  • That text on US Mint's website has been there since December. I think a few lines about demand have been added though, I dunno. Silver Eagles are going to skyrocket MUCH earlier than I thought.....Time to sell the Eagles for some Scottsdale Silver while Scottsdale bullion is cheap!

  • Sweet. Thanks Drutter.
