hi i have a unit like you have. teac made some with glass heads some have head like the tascam 38 units the glass ones are far better. note they are very heavy so if you buy one
I love your video. It brought back memories with the track sheet having SMPTE on one track to lock it up to sequencer. The Willie Nelson recordings are great . I remember owning a used 80-8 I used with the Teac model 5 mixer back in the 1990's.
Hello there!! I hope that you can help me, I have one of this beatiful machine, but, i don``t know how put the tape across the heads, please tell me how is the correct position, thank`s a lot. have a nice day,
Analogue is the best recording device. No auto tune or pitch correction in the analogue years. You actually had to have talent before you got a record deal
It seems very odd that anyone would record over Willie Nelson original recordings. I can understand reusing tapes, but not when the material on the tape greatly exceeds the cost of new tape. Even a complete bonehead should know better than that, but then again, NASA did record over the original slow scan TV tapes from the Apollo 11 landing.
@douglas787 I NEVER reuse tapes. When I'm done with a project, I hand it to my client and tell them how to store it. There's been a couple of tapes that were left with me and I don't have a problem cutting off the blank short end and using THAT, but never rerecord over an old project. It bit me in the butt too many times when I was first starting.

My dad still has a 3440 and an 80-8. We did some recording when I was younger on them. Sounded really nice.

great presentation Martin, I hope you'll take good care of those recording wonders. And a long life to our pioneer engineers around the globe. Cheers

@DonJuanDeMarco2 I paid $300.00 for my 80-8 a few years ago. I put a NOS pinch roller on it and it works great. Love collecting the old machines.
