hello i was wondering how did you install the bypass valve as a blow off valve. im about to get a 3rd gen and wanted the bypass valve to vent into atmosphere thanks
Unlike 1st and 2nd gen which use VAM (Vane Air Flow Meter), the third gen already came the valve and use speed density system. You can replace the valve with any blow off valve without ill effect due to unmetered air being released to the atmosphere.
wow, i installed MBC on stock boost levels to get faster spoolup and also installed HKS SSQV as a bypass recirculated, but spool up doesnt seem so fast, i guess my turbo is on its way out, though i treat it really carefully :/
hey i've got a stock mr2 turbs but im not so technically inclined about cars.
could u explain how you got the blow off valve to vent into the atmo instead of recirculating into the system? best guess is you removed the pipe that leads from the bov back to the system?
Yes, you can just remove the recirculating hose and cap the recirculate port on the intake. If you are still using the air flow meter, you will run a little richer when the valve releases the metered air out. You could also run into stalling problem. So, you might want to consider leaving the recirculating system intact.

Thanks. I am not using any boost controller.

@briinums running a MBC at stock boost increases spool? how so?

thats the best bypass valve ever

lol yeh, i realised that after i posted the message so i wont be doing that as i am running the afm but thanks for confirming!

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, it is setup as a blow off valve. However the valve I use is a "stock bypass valve" found in MR2 Turbo.

it's it's vented to the atmosphere,it's not a bypass valve, it's a blow-off valve
