@bbcisrubbish There MIGHT not be that much in theory, because all the units were controlled simultaneously by one driver. They all push at once, so MAYBE the only strain is on the last string of cars with no pushing engine. I didn't see a single slack action once in the video.

Turn it up! BHP billition run 112 cars in one rake. They run 3 rakes in one train with locotrol . Thats 6 locos for around 27,000hp, 336cars for about 45,000 tonnes and 3.7km long!

The longest train I've seen in person had 3 locomotives and 179 cars, and was between 2 and 2.5 miles long. It was a CN train in Ontario.
