  • green day proforming one of my favriot songs that was writen by the greatist musican of the 21 century. this is awsome

  • While I love this song, and feel for the people of Darfur, this song isn't about genocide and murder. I don't understand why Green Day coupled this song with this particular issue. But it's good, anyhow.

  • One of the best.

  • John Lennon was amazing- his songs were so honest and powerful and John was the only one who had the guts to speak out.

  • Wow. Amazing cover. I'm in 'awe'.

  • powerful song, written by john lennon of course, but green day did a good job with it. i liked how it had the people from the middle east talking about the evil over there, and how they actually put in john at the end. nice.

  • @cameljoe05 Many people who have very little, and have to live in drudgery day after day, and are taken advantage of, or hurt by the powerful, yet maintain their intergrity despite all. They keep on, despite society, the rulers, powerful tearing at them, putting them down -- torturing one way or another. Amazing, really, that one keeps on under all of that. One can go on and on, and I hope others add their take on this.

  • sad

  • so sad

  • so sad...

  • i learned about darfur today and usually everything i learn in school doesent usually touch me but this did

  • great song! =)

  • Good Message!

  • I love the guitar solo at 3:14

  • love how the drums come in at 1:53

  • i agree!!

  • hell yea

  • im glad green day is doing something!

  • hell yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111 savedafur

  • those poor people....

  • i cant belive he cares=]

    im glad he does

  • im very happy that green day is helping darfur

  • sad, but true. Mankind is barely conscious. .

  • god bless these people so they may find peace be cured and have hapiiness :)

  • cd is Instant Karma: The Campaign To Save Darfur

  • What CD Is this on?

  • you know what is fuckin retarted, someone said that green day was emo music and I was like WTF no they arnt so i poped him in the face...

  • primeredstang & kevin: I agree that the US is suffering but not as bad as out there. The government doesnt say no to anybody if they need food to live... in Darfur its 10000x worse.

  • i agree with kevin , why do we have to help the rest of the world when we cant even take care of our own , how meny families , homeless ,vets , ect , make a stand an help our own ...

  • It's one thing to have ignorant assholes and a failing (imaginary) economy and a complete other thing to have your existence questioned everyday with no imaginary things to make you feel better about it.

  • God i always cry when i see this video it really opens your eyes and shows you that people really have it hard out there

  • I was skeptical about Green Day covering such a powerful song. Much to my surprise they did it.

  • I hope you realize that the people in America have it better than they do in Darfur. At least we have shelters where people can go and be taken care of. In Darfur, the situation is so bad, that people are afraid to go anywhere because of their persecutors. In America, you have so much more freedom than they do. Be thankful that your freedom isn't on the line. No one is trying to kill you for absolutely nothing.

  • u dont know suffering

wat they are going through is suffering

  • Good for you, guys. Make a stand, make a statement, for someone who may not have the luck, bravado, outlet...whatever. Right on! pjh

  • I think Green Day is calming it down before it was like HEAVY METAL and curse words in every song.

  • Green Day is the band that inspired me to learn how to play the guitar. I love them so much. I know im not their biggest fan ever bcuz ive met their biggest fan! I would pay a ton of money just to meet them. Just for like two minutes. I love them so much!!!! :D

  • Did you know?!

John Lennon, the original writer of Working Class Hero, never worked a day in his life.

He spoke about peace and love but he hit his first wife and completely ignored his son with her.

He claimed to not eat meat, but he did.

But honestly the beatles are fuckin amazing and I like alot of john's music. Have a good day, folks!

  • "His wife was raped next to his dead body" omg thats horrible

  • john would probably enjoy the message of this video, to aid in humanity. say what you want about green day, or their version, but the message stands apart.

  • green day = my idols.

billy joe armstrong is the best man alive. and so is the rest of his band. this proves that they have a heart. and they can sing. i love them <3 and skrew all the haters, they are better than everyone :] ha

  • john lennon lived a different life than most. he thought of a different world than most people do. he told it like it was. what a great person he was.

  • its so sad it made me cry

  • i love this song so much... i always get a little teary eyed when watching this

  • that vids amazing.

    UH. MAY. ZING.

    AMAZING.

  • Those who have and will spam these comments ought to be ashamed of themselves of taking the weight out of this video. Whatever dumbass talking about fucking lesbians can go fuck himself from the sheer arrogance of spamming such a powerful video.

  • you people piss me the off do you even understand the lyriks this is sad shit

  • depends what kind of photos they were

  • this song is awesome i have john lennon vid in my favs

  • stop talkin about VOTING, this is a Green Day video called WORKING CLASS HERO , not VOTING CLASS HERO. serisouly.

  • USA VOTE NADER SPREAD THE WORD!

  • This song is the best song that ive ever heard so I am probley liston to it all the time By Joseph wheeler

  • that means you are one

  • phenomenal song!!! one of green day's finest!!!

  • i like john lennos version better but john lennon's fans should thank green day for reving the song for a new genration, cuz lets face our genration doesnt knowe shit about shit half the time.

  • @AJFreeway its a good cover, but the song isnt Green Day's song, its John Lennon. but it really is agreat i love it :D

  • Send the Marines

  • sad & SAD

  • i feel sorry for them i wish i could help them :(

  • me too!! thats why its hard for me to watch stuff like this cause i want to do something and im not seeing anything i can do

  • You Can! Buy the t-shirts that have working class hero written on them and have billie joe on them. There green u can get em at hard rock ccafes

  • Ya i got that shirt i think im goin to wear it tommorrow because of this vid.

  • i want one with lenno's face :O they got those? i like green day to thoug lol

  • yeah its like realllly sad

  • man billie joe is a god. love him

  • haha ik what you mean but they didnt make it its a john lennon song but yeah its a good song veryyyy sad yet veryyy true =\\

  • true

    but the video was saddd

  • mike looks like the guy from the police everybreath you take

  • omg it's so weird not seeing them jump around and play hard

  • I think Lennon would be proud...

  • I plan on joining the U.N. myself though, I'm studying Political Science, learning a few African languages, and getting to know international laws... Still don't think the U.N. is very usefull... But at least I'm gonna try to make an effort, other than sitting around with my thumbs up my ass like the international community...

  • When the guy mentioned U.N. peace keepers, as sad as it sounds, I couldn't help but laugh... We all know how usefull the U.N. is... They are just a cheap figure head placed in other areas so the international community thinks their governments are doing something...

Truth of the matter is, the U.N. is useless unless completely backed with the right funding etc...

  • <3 amazing

  • workin class hero is something to be

  • Wow, i normally despise modern music, this is the only lennon cover other than neil young that doesnt suck

  • wow...to bad the video has nothing to do with the actual song

  • is this on a green day cd if so wat 1

  • no, it's on the Instant Karma album which was dedicated to save Darfur.

this was a cover of John Lennon's Working Class Hero, other bands did covers on his other songs and such on this album.

    =)

  • this is a really good song.

  • The song is an entity unto itself. Truly great artists can either write a song or do a cover of it, but the song itself is bigger than both of them.

Both versions of this one are tremendous.

  • i luv green day. this song is soo cool.

  • i love this song im addicted to green day

  • john lennon rules.

  • who cares if they didnt write the song... people do remixs of songs all the time... green day rocks and is my favorite band... they actually care about stuff and it can make all the difference... rock on...

  • hey wwefanworld, fuck YOU! GreenDay is inspirational and the greatest band on earth so wtf are you talking about??? "racist to americans?" what the hell is that supposed to mean? they're trying to raise awareness about problems and what are you doing? Talking shit about the good guys. If you dont like them, why are you even watching this? Why dont you go get a life and stop critisizing other fucking people!

  • greenday is very great and all but they dident wright this song.

  • i know but the fact that they re-did the song and everything is really great and shows that they care, right?

  • yeah, i see your point :)i really do like them, i have like 5 of their cd's.lol

  • powerful video

  • Oh I made a mistake. Africa's a continent I believe.

  • The point where that man says he had to flee his home because he was afraid to stay there really gets me angry. NO ONE should have to be afraid to live in their own country, state, city, or neighborhood. No Matter where you are.

  • This there an uncensored version of this song or is meant tbe censored. I cant seem to find an uncensored version online.

  • ive yet to find one that isnt censored

  • this song really hits hard on points on the conflicts in africa.......i know obvious.............but still......this song is really powerful

    I LOVE IT

    =D

  • I prefer John Lennon's version of this song...but it's okay

  • like how retard because there saying the war is stupid and so is bush which he is... dumbass

    im american k

also most americans spell it the right way

  • "green day is racist to amaricans"

    How exactly?

  • Cocksucker There from america

  • "american" isnt a race

  • u cant be racist against a country lol its called prejudice

  • this song is sad and happy but mostly a good tune i really feel sorry for people like this

  • Shocking....

A band tries to spread awareness about human suffering, and all anyone can say is f*cking good song. Does anyone even care anymore? It needs to stop and it needs to stop NOW. go talk to a holocaust survivor and ask them how much genocide is and if you dont care about the interviews in this video, then you missed the point of the song

  • I love this song.

  • john would have been proud of you guys...thank you for that .

  • why the fuck is it just black people in this video they interview?

  • Uh, let's see. it's about helping DARFUR. a country in AFRICA. where the vast majority are people who're dark colored. got a problem with it?

  • ha ha, yeah. that might explain it. gee, i wonder why the people from africa are black. when the hell did that happen?

  • well mentalholocaust, darfur is a country in africa, and guess where most black people come from? oh my god they come from africa!!! it's fun learning things isnt it?

  • well, no shit.

but where in the lyrics does it say anything about that?

  • simple, the lyrics apply to the situation going on in Darfur (an area of the country Sudan) where there's tribal genocide going on. This is the best cover of the song and its very good and moving. I personally prefer it over the original, even.

  • great cover, billie joe has a great voice

  • I love this song, but its sooo sad.

  • not the best of their work but still pretty good

  • I like how this song has NOTHING to do with Genocide, it's about capitalism.

  • green day did a great cover. John Lennon R.I.P.

  • green day did an amazing job covering this song john lennon would be proud R.I.P. JOHN LENNON

  • I used to hate these guys but there last few albums i have really liked..just didnt like the pure punk stuff i guess. Peace

  • i feel sorry for all of those people.

  • I am not even the biggest GD fan but "they need to make something?" ah yeah they have been a band for 17 years have made 7 platinum albums and gone on countless world tours...What have you done lately? Maybe its not GD that needs to jump off a cliff.

  • when did i say green day should jump off a cliff? don't put words in my mouth man. and don't expect me to have accomplished what green day has. they're in their 30's and have been playing music together for almost two decades. i on the other hand am only 16. and in a band and playing shows around my neighborhood. so here's my bottom line- we can't save darfur.

  • I like this song It's really good but sad.

  • if you want ppl to help here you need to go throw the goverment there is way around it. the goverment makes all the decisions in this country. we should bt we cant thats y more ppl want to help others cuz they cant help here. bt i see wat ur trying to do i'm not trying to tell u that ur wrong.

  • fuck, i scratched my phone

  • hey chikenpicken123! do u rely think that u can change some thing here then some were elts. if u want to change some thing here then u have to go throw the goverment. even tho the goverment works 4 us. and ur not going to win

  • what? what the hell are you talking about? i'm not trying to go "through" government, i'm trying to get people to realize saving darfur is not only a hopeless case but distracts us from our own people.

  • I like this cover its not bad 4 green day

  • we have a good countrey but there are others that do need help in different parts of the world. what if u were born there insted of here u be saying the same thing

  • obviously not. i am endlessly greatful for the life i have.

  • this is intresting never knew this stuff

  • ok chickenpickenpen. this song was wrote and performed by john lenon. they took his songs and about 20 modorn artists redid his songs for a cd called instant karma(same as the song). all the proceeds went to help people in darfur. the song isn't directly related to darfur, but the remake by green day was made to benefit people in Darfur.

  • first- no shit it was lennon. and second- none of the money made from this album is on its way to darfur. the government there is too screwed up and nobody's getting in without getting shot first. and our government is aware of this. this CD was just a good way for our industries to make a lot of money off of sympethetic good hearted americans who don't really do anything about these problems. instead they go out and buy fuckin music and think that's gonna stop gunfire! how shallow can we get?

  • chickenpicken123. Just what do u think that green day is trying to do with this song? trying to make money? well maybe but they dont seem to care. they just want publicity? HAHAHAHAHA NO! they're known as one of the most amazing bands in american history. most people dont really realize whats really going on there. im 14. Im one of the people who will be deciding what goes on in the world so we can anylize the issue and take care of it in the most peaceful way we can.

  • well since you seem to be looking foward to running the show when you're older, which is good, you should understand that there are a lot of problems in THIS country that WE live in that should be fixed. and they include starving and abused children, innocent people getting shot and corruption in government. let's care for our own citizens first. then we can save people on the other side of the planet. but don't ignore the people here at home.

  • I understand that you're concerned with things here and i partly agree.I'm so passionate about the lives of the abused and molested and overall unjustly screwed over people of this copuntry but please try to understand that this goverment is trying all it can for them.they cant stop evil people corrupt systems and crappy parents.I love america i love it for the generosity that we have for others.money cant save the wounded here. but over there they need something FOOD and if we can help we will.

  • P.S. thank you i do want to help i just want to save everyone i can and i do intend to run the show but not in a goverment position. it's not what i feel im meant to do. whats ur career?

  • me? i'm 16. i work at a supermarket. and my junior year is right around the corner. fuck. ha ha. oh well. summer can last but so damn long.

  • yeah. but my concern wasn't to call to attension the US government, our government is corrupt as hell. i was trying to call attension to all these people who feel we NEED to save everyone over in darfur. regular people with sympathetic tunnel vision. let the people of darfur shoot each other up until one day a new system rises and people can live their lives- without america getting involved. their day will come, and it will come without the aid of john lennon covers.

  • Chikenpicken: Saying we should ignore whats going in Darfur, is like saying "Heil Hitler, kill all Jews".

We do have our own problems here in the U.S, but not a freakin GENOCIDE of an entire ethnic group.

  • okay, this is new. by me caring about the american people, "nawledge" sees me as adolf hitler. oh, of course that makes sence. you're a saint because you've forgotten about our troops in the east, about our economy, our educational and health systems, and about OUR starving, abused and murdered. being selfish isn't right but when you've gotten to the point where you've forgotten about our people because you realized others on the other side of the planet something needs to change.

  • Thanks for completely twisting my words.

First off, I admitted that we have our own problems here in the U.S. Thats blantly clear. Our economy sucks, the war sucks, healthcare sucks. But think about this.

Lets pretend you're red head with green eyes. Then comes this entire thinking that all red heads must die. The military walks into your homes, murdering your entire family just off of this belief.

If the UK had the capicity to at least offer a solution, you would'nt ask them for it?

  • of course i would. but we've been trying to save them for about 40 years. has anything changed? personally i think it's gotten worse. let's try thinking about this universally. there are crazy, selfish, murderous people in this world. we're human, this is who we are. this is what we do. it's wrong, it's pure evil. but the bottom line is no amount of john lennon covers is ever gonna change something that has been around for thousands of years, humans killing off other humans.

  • I get what you mean. Trust me, I do. I know that Sudan has been having problems for years now. But THIS problem is significantly different. Before it was just civil wars between the North and South, and religous divides. THIS is a genocide. The senseless killing of an entire ethnic group. Its like the Civil War in America was between the Union and the Confederacy. Then it becomes ALL of America killing Mexicans or another group. Its something that needs intervention, or it'll happen elsewhere.

  • and if it does it'll once again in the history of mand kind show us how much we have not evolved. and i still feel terrible for all those people having their own life taken away from them everyday.

  • Yeah, I guess I see where you're coming from.

  • If everyone gave up on things like this, then there would be more murder then ever in the world. Yes, there are selfish, crazy, murdering bastards roaming around. Does that mean we should let them walk all over nations? No amount of John Lennon covers is going to fix that, but people LISTEN to music. They worship their idols like that. Sometimes, it's good to at least try. Just because it's happened for thousands of years, doesn't mean it should continue.

  • yeah but it will. tell you what. if crazy fuckers with genocide on their mind come to our homeland then we can whip out our bombs, soilders and efforts to put them in the ground. but as far as i'm concerned with africa it can't be saved. it just has to burn from the inside til nothing's left. then one day they can start over. all we're doing is just dragging that day on. but your heart is in the right spot.

  • Whipping out bombs, and soldiers, insofar as I'm concerned are damn futile, but the least we can do is inspire help for some sort of aide, even if it's just donating a few dollars to sending food over there. Africa isn't *quite* a lost cause, but hey, I'm occasionally hopeful like that.

  • cool

  • I disagree with you strong that our government is trying to help our own people. (Americans, that is.) And if you genuinely feel that way, you are naive, but that'll change with time. You don't have to wait to do something for people right now though. Get some friends, organize a food drive. Join a Run or Walk that raises money. Hell, sell Krispy Kreme donuts to raise money. Donate to Goodwill. There are plenty of things you can do now. And it will make you a better punk ;).

  • u must really be a dumb shit do u actually think the money would go to their gov't?!? they're part of the problem.the money goes to an organization that IS helping in Darfur.

  • hey bro, i hate to bum you out but we've been trying to save darfur for over the last 25 years. and what has changed- nothing. the only thing that has changed is our situation HERE IN OUR OWN COUNTRY. FUCK! so what do you wanna do, try to keep a few kids from hunger in a doomed country far far away or try to help our people here at home. the starving americans, the homeless americans, the cheated, beaten and abused americans. this lennon CD ain't gonna do shit but distract us from our own people

  • Yeah is not starvation/hunger in Darfur its genocide, and last I checked there wasn't "Death Squads" rolling through any American city that kill all the men and children and then rape then kill all the women only to burn the town to the ground before they leave. Why fight with people that want to help another country. Yes the US has a major problems and one of them is apathetic and selfish citizens, you seem to be one of them.

  • alright. you don't agree with me either. you feel it's of the utmost importance that we spend millions of dollars to feed a few hundred people only for them to starve again the next day and/or be shot. and green day's gonna help do just that. i guess you're not aware that there are hundreds of countries out there and millions more who could come here and plead their problems of situations just as bad as the ones in darfur. is this 1 country gonna save all these other countries all over the world

  • Very aware but criticizing someone or some band for trying to do some good is a joke. You certainly can have your opinions about it but why publicly criticize? I agree there is allot of other countries with problems but why criticize a CD trying to raise its own money for a cause, you don't agree with it don't buy it..Thats that. So you think there are countries that are as bad as Darfur.Hmm.. Maybe, but over a half a million people already killed, I haven't heard of any that bad.

  • why publicly criticize?! that's what criticism is! if i kept it to myself I WOULDN'T BE CRITCIZING. jackass.

  • i've failed to see how an american pop band is going to save africa. why are these people in the video telling us these things when we already know of the horror over there. this "save the third world" thing is becoming a fad. and what the bloody hell the song "working class hero" have to do with starving kids? the song is about how your entire life in AMERICA people have control over you, how it's okay to kill but not okay to speak freely. nothing to do with darfur at all!

  • excuse me i respect what u have to say but number one green day is a punk band at heart number two the cd that this was on was something like 'buy this cd and theres some money going to help durfur win a way' and i think the somg fits its so cruel over there in america we have a luxuriouse life EVEN THE HOBOS live in a nice place.

  • living under a bridge is better than an opressive dirt town in africa. i admire the works of this album and i never heard any one try to help the third world before this so stop dinking ur hatoraid and appreciate ur life and try to help the people of durfur by... wel i dont know im 14 like the peace core? thats what im thinking of doing. maybe a firt aid thingey? who knows. just try. :) thanks for posting this chicken pen 123. i slightly agree with u but then i dont at the same time

  • i think i know what it is that you don't agree with. but first of all i don't want to feel like i have to repay a debt just cause i was born into the life i have, and i am greatfull. but the reason this album strikes me as baloney is because there are endless places in the world that have their own problems, their own starving people, and own currupt government. guess what? we're one of those countries too. so let's try to fix our own goddamn country. THEN we can go play superman.

  • so because i have a good life i have to go out and buy john lennon covers? look, just becuase the lifestyle we were born into is great doesn't mean we have a duty, an obligation to go and save other countries on the other side of the goddamn planet. in fact last time i checked the country WE live in is sliding down hill. "oh save us! oh save us!" let's worry about our own people first.

  • great song

  • il's very good

  • good song

  • the beginning is really sad..

  • So beautiful....

  • awesome

  • remember babies don't control where they are born, but we can help where they grow up.
