  • This is so soothing...

  • seriously, 2 dislikes looks pretty funny .. did they tune into the wrong channel? hoping to find maybe some RELIGIOUS music? LOL

  • @carlafierro7 For many years, this song was the most influential part of my life. kinda thought i was in heaven, and i forgot my problems when this played. For a few minutes, i was happy again.

  • I attended this lecture at my school and afterwards the professor played this song through the speakers in the lecture hall. I thought I was the only one who listened to really good obscure music such as Fripp & Eno...I'm really happy that I was wrong.

  • My babygrrl, now 29, was born, at home, to this track!

    {Yes, indeed, that may explain a great deal!} *:☯)

  • fripp did a sounscape set in hmv in manchester in mid 90s ish, all I had on me was a ruler to get him to sign, no LPs nothing. he wrote "this is not my ruler" on it in gold pen, and i've treasured it ever since

  • @trapapapapapapa Idiot

  • @trapapapapapapa Boo hoo. Referring to my being a citizen of the most powerful country on earth. That hurt. Don't really care about lsd. Was never my thing. Say, is it possible to overdose on jizz? Because that's what I'd be afraid of if i were you. I mean, maybe you could choke to death or something.

  • @trapapapapapapa Oh yeah. Just checked out your channel. You think smoking pot is "disgusting"? What's really disgusting is a guy sucking another guy's dick. Fucking fag.

  • @daven58100 Idiot, but I agree with the top comment

  • @trapapapapapapa Maybe you should try smoking pot. Might cure that mental stutter you have. trapapapapapapa. I mean, what the fuck kind of name is that?

  • FrippenEno?

    KinAwesome

  • When you really listen to this.. you find the tao.

  • I discovered this piece years ago on a compilation called "Ambient"...thrift shop find. I will forever remember it as being listened to during an all night train journey down the West Coast US....the few lights going by...Mount Shasta backlight by an awesome post-sunset sky...some memories never fade...

  • adore... ♫♪ Լღvє ♫ ♪♪

  • so beautiful.. love it

  • I freakin love Fripp... Belew... King Crimson... ALL of it... There is nothing these guys have ever done that I don't absolutely love... It all takes me to some other mystical world, far FAR away from this one... True Immortals... (sigh of bliss)... Thanks for sharing, Vito. :)

  • unfortunately, this will be elevator music in the future

so blowout your candles, and drain your bathtub..

  • @BopsStudios i dont believe you. my candles caught the house on fire and my tub is overflowing

  • Somebody HAS TO DO IT.

  • Fripp... frippertronics,,, frippertron...

    fripp, fripp, fripp

  • I tried covering this, take a look. :)

  • Fripp seems stuffy and bookish in interviews but this track is evidence that dwelling somewhere in that man is a deep and abiding warmth.

  • love purely instrumental pieces, i got a couple on my channel if someone is interested. love music and love sharing amongst people. life for life's sake. would love to meet and share with other music lovers.

    peace.

  • this song brings tears to my eyes. i love it.

  • @quasar1020 tears in our eyes can allone with good music, there are more,a good song brings our memory back,to beautifull dthings(or sad)

  • This piece is like the spokes of the universe spiraling out endlessly expanding...

  • @redfrank yes.very well said!!..lol..I listen to this album alot,I listen to Eno a great deal,it's a very moving piece. Not sure if you like Robin Guthrie?if you haven't heard him you surely will appreciate his music I'm sure...peace Sophie:))

  • @MsMagicalCat Great suggestion. I also highly recommend the work of guitarist Richard Pinhas and his band 'Heldon' if you enjoy these delightful Frippertronics.

  • @cheekymonkey1979 Thankyou cheekymonkey..lol.I love that name.I'm a bit of a cheeky monkey myself..LOL;)) I'm going to check this out..I live v near Robert Fripp which is a bit odd+Dave Gilmour;)).

Do you know the 4ad record label?think it may have been orig based in Scotland..the Cocteaus/Guthrie were on that label..but you might like Harold Budd..I love a veritable mixed bag of tunes, been listening to alot of Klaus Schluze Tangerine Dream +Cann of late.Gong are my fav tho' ,thanks :)) Sophie

  • i absolutely love this song.

  • So simplistic, yet so beautiful. Thank you.

  • One of my all time favorite pieces of music. Always returns me to balance when I hear it. No one sustains a note like Fripp !

  • David Gilmour may have got his inspiration for 'the blue' from this track

  • Fripp-er and Eno-riffic !!!

  • dream music like this takes me away to paradise in my mind!

  • i started listening to this and without even thinking about it just found all my muscles i didn't even realize were tense start to relax... then i kept listening and just melted

  • This will be playing at my funeral.

  • 0 dislikes, the way it should be

  • Dear God!!!(If there is one, this song is his Ost)

  • I love this song. It's so soothing!

  • You are getting very sleepy. Used to love listening to this at night in bed. It's so soothing.

  • The eeriness pulls on my heartstrings..

I listened to these cassettes as a child, and to hear it now (as a musician), in a different light; awestruck.

  • There Truly is, Nothing That can surpass the Genius Of Robert Fripp!

  • If you guys like this, check out a song called Ram Nam Satya Hai by S.maharba. It's wonderful.

  • <3

  • Ms. Penland--you took my very sentiment--the beauty of this piece should take

your breath away. The most plaintive guitar I've ever heard in my 50+ yrs.

    of collecting music.

  • it means its an arrow straight to your heart....duh!!

  • Thank you, Fripp and Eno

  • Fripp is genius

  • brilliant !

  • I think this is the poster child of ambient. A song that sounds like what it is called. I can just see a star, at dusk, slowly lighting up. I want this song to be playing when I die.

  • I think this is the poster child of ambient. A song that sounds like what it is called. I can just see a star, at dusk, slowly lighting up. I want this song to be playing when I die.

  • brain candy

  • played this stuff last night as I fell asleep and accidentally had the 1st astral projection of my life

  • this has been a long standing piece of my 'relax' collection. Fripp does it most naturally.

  • Makes me wish I was out looking up at the stars......and smoking a big, fat joint.

  • I find this neither pedantic nor joyless.

  • So after listening to this, what happens next is you end up searching the net for hours to try to find something that will give you the same thing this did. Then you give up and go to bed...

  • @willhanleyband Look for Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois – Apollo, OR Daniel Lanois & Brian Eno & Roger Eno – Silver Morning / EG 53. Brian Eno and Harold Budd also have some great, piano-based ambient pieces.

  • this music takes me to another place

  • love this music. i never heard something like this before. i strongly recommend to you king crimson, robert fripp and brian eno. greetings to you from argentina.

  • I think finding this signals the end of my browsing through the internet for stuff! I don't understand this. This is the best thing I've ever heard

  • *****

  • Great song and I used to play it on the college radio station I was DJ for. WCSB 89.3FM in Cleveland. Dont hear stuff like this no more.

  • most beautiful piece of music ever recorded on this planet.. but thats just my opinion. i love it with all my heart, since years. the last thing i want to hear before i leave this place.

  • @JoeGroomlake I feel exactly the same way, Joe. This, and if I'm still not gone, Asturias.

  • @lbcsrw hey there.. asturias, can you give me a link to that piece of music ? i don't know it..

  • @JoeGroomlake

It is written by Burt Lams when he was a member of Fripp's League of Crafty Guitarists. He's gone onto be a member of the California Guitar Trio. He's really an amazing talent.

  • @JoeGroomlake dude you must be trippin

  • @JoeGroomlake Agree with you completely.!!! Play this on my deathbed and at my funeral

That should freak the relatives out!!!!

  • @hahagerm........you know, it's ironic.......i just told my parents the other day that if i die for some reason, play "Islands" at my funeral. :(

  • @CrimsonKing73 Good choice!!!

Hope it won't be for many years though!!!

  • Very nice and gives you depression.

  • @NotOrdinaryInGames Depression??? What do you mean????

  • Ethereal...

  • Evening Star. Venus. This music is brilliant !

  • When Fripp plays it sounds like the universe crying (Darryl Hall) - so true

  • @brajtnerinjo Crying. Maybe. But I feel the main point is his talent to play this kind of relaxing music. King Crimson music is mostly cacophonic but there are also a few examples of these kind of tunes.

  • @FinnMove Then color me a fan of cacophony!

  • Watching the sun rise on a beach to this song is something words have a very difficult time describing.

  • When I split up from my 1st husband.. 1982? All I wanted was sole custody.. but I did manage to make sure this album wasn't packed lol It's good to find it again..

  • @111abf111 turning it up to.. permeation levels.. sitting out on the dock at the lake..:-) The album cover's not far off..

  • @111abf111 Why on earth would you want me to know that?

  • This album is better than their first, absolutely.

  • @FinnMove I've heard the albums, but they are 2 legends. Love the track

  • just brilliant , i feel like being among the univers=))

  • this is brilliant, reminds me of chilling in my best mate's dad's flat, smoking pot and watching the world go by. Thanks for the upload

  • @phillyP84 such a quality high song!

  • I can't describe how gorgeous the scene this music creates.

  • I hope Fripp doesn't take this down again. What part of 'free publicity' doesn't he understand? Not that he cares about publicity... lol

  • Yeah rdecredico,

Diaspar (with John Deliberto), Stars End (with Chuck Van Zyl & Elise Seidman & Jeff Towne) The Experimental Radio Project (with Thom Dura) that then went into "TEA TIME" for one hour at the end of the show. Great stuff.

  • My Favorite Fripp/Eno composition, ...haunting...

  • RE: Stars End...Also this is where I was exposed to this music and so much more...good call...I have been listening to it since it started in 1970;s and also they used to have a great afternoon showed called, Diaspar...WXPN, one of the greatest radio stations....

  • was the evening star Venus ?

  • I first heard this song on STARS END which is a radio program out of the University of Pennsylvania. It's on from 1AM-6AM Saturday night into Sunday morning and can be heard on 88.5FM in the Philadelphia area or on the internet by going to their website.

    Some other songs that they play on this program include;

Sympathy and Acknowledgment by Mark Isham

    Koyaanisqatsi by Philip Glass

Structures From Silence by Steve Roach

    Waterwheel by Mother Mallard

    etc.

    etc.

    etc.

  • @r5t6y12

starts end is greeeeat. "this is john delaberta and your listening to staaars end"

  • this is superb guitar playing..it ain't fast, it ain't clever..its straight to your heart....nuff said!

  • It's not only clever.....it's the product of genius...divine....you mustn't have heard a lot of Fripp...he's the smartest and wittiest guitarist around....he can make his guitar sound like anything....never heard something like that all my life....and I am a professional guitarist...I can't figure out how he does it!!!!!!!!From Crimson to Hammill to Eno to Peter Gabriel....this man's a genuine genius!!!!!!!!!Oh...and he can be fast as hell.....

  • @59simonh what does "it ain't clever" mean?

  • @59simonh actually his "oriental-ish-y" sounding dynamics hes doin with the whammy's pretty clever. n i dont think it'd be bad if he added some fast pickin in the background maybe some kinda really nicely placed arpeggios or somethin. but his kinda back n forth from string to string style pickin added. idk. just sayin haha.

  • @ganjareefer According to RF himself, it's not a tremolo, but just using the machine head to dive bomb.

  • @59simonh its pretty clever guitar playing actually xD with the rest I agree ;)

  • @59simonh it was clearly the "clever" part that intrigued me....as for the others ......I totally agree with you.....but I ain't seeing my comment'round here....hahahahaahahhahaah....somebody obviously erased it.....have a nice holiday amigo!!!!!!!!!

  • @59simonh I'm working in the same mode, tuning my guitar to straight 5ths (Fripp in this era tuned his guitar strings GDaebd or d#, mine is f#). There's something about tuning the guitar in all 5ths that inherently evokes an ethereal sound, the chords are naturally 6ths, 10ths, 11ths ... the arpeggiation patterns are more open, some std chords harder to reach. Trey Gunn & Tony Levin are touch/tap players ( Warr Guitar & Chapman Stick) in Fripp's circle of alternative method guitarists....

  • I got my old account suspended because I uploaded this. Robert Fripp is infamous for removing countless great videos that feature him.

  • @GeorgeLupine3 Really? That's unfortunate to hear. I love being able to open new people up to his work by sending them Youtube links.

  • This goes to a place beyond reality and back.

  • beyond words

  • The unmistakeable Fripp guitar....wonderful

  • Perfect.
