These guys were definately not uncomfortable in front of the camera..totally relaxed and lovin it. So many of the sixties bands were too rigid and fixed in place on stage..plus Lindsey has the best pure rock voice of them all!
@muvitup1 And recall the programs where some of them guest starred - I think Sonny and Cher were once on an episode of The Man From Uncle, Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart were on I dream Of Genie and someone, don't recall just who was on My Three Sons.
@calligal55 It was on Saturday mornings and then it was expanded to weekdays. Mark and Paul did seem to have a lot of fun with it; kind of like those guys on the NFL pregame shows do now.

Great song, I wonder if she let him? I grew up with this music, great memories. They just played here locally a few weeks ago at a fest. I missed seeing them unfortunately. The last time I saw them Paul Revere and I think one other original member was playing and Paul Revere's son I believe and they sounded great even without Mark Lindsay.
More perfect sixties Bubblegum/Psych crossover, brilliantly arranged by Terry Melcher. This my favourite from Mark Lindsay's band. An influence on Tom Petty a decade later? This 1969 song is an overlooked classic by a great group who went on to become House Band at Disney Land in the USA in 1977 after 13 years of US hits.
@henrysgigs1 I did not know about Disneyland..what a shame!! The industry and fans too; have a tendency to forget bands that at one time turned out hit after hit to promote bands that can't even closely compare in talent. They just drop them with no thought as to what a hard emotional hit they take; and uneedlessly so b/c the talent's still there. This happened w/ The Band. They were every bit as good w/out Robbie & ended up playing hotel bars?? The disrespect pained R Manuel; he comm suicide.
This music and the groups of the 60's is a million times better and has more talent than the songs and bands of today. This group does belong in the hall of fame. I lived in the 60's and I really did, live, that is. Joy of hearing great music, fun times. I do miss it.
The long LP version has a break that is house before house. This group was so hot and never taken seriously because of their outfits and their teen fan base in the 60's. The Raiders, and Paul Revere and the Raiders, and Mark Lindsay - collectively should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. "Hungry" gives me chills in 2010!

I really like how so frequently when I speak with those in their mid to later teens and twenties I often hear from them how they admire the music of the 1960s and 1970s.
I have the Video in my collection and it gets played alot. The band was awesome and dont get much credit for the influence they had on music. No doubt should be in the Rock & Roll hall of fame. You guys and Gals are right the local Radio stations dont play much of their music.Lucky for me I have almost all of their songs.
I was 9 when this came out. Takes me back to the good old days. The local oldies station where i live, would never play this song. All the oldies they play are the same old songs you have heard a million times. I'm happy to have this one on my Ipod though.
It was 1970 at a auditorium in Chicago, I was 12 & a couple of my friends & I went to see The Raiders at my 1st concert. The girls were screaming so much that I could not hear the music, We were so far back that we could hardly see them & my reel to reel tape recorder that I brought to record them broke on me. Needless to say I never to this day ever went to another concert. Total disaster! :(
That is probably from the Brit show "Beat Club", appearing on episode 2 August 1969, especially since this show is b/w and US TV was broadcast in color by then. By '69 their TV appearances were waining off. They made one appearance on the "Red Skeleton" show but didn't perform "Let Me".
I saw The Raiders several times, was soooo in love with Mark Lindsay (I named my female cat Mark Lindsay :) I saw them in '69 for the last time, went to the hotel where they were staying hoping to meet Mark. I didn't, but met Keith Allison and got to "know him better". Of course, I was a lovesick groupie, but don't regret it at all :)
@thozzman Of course! I was a kid; so it was pretty much always good at that age...so easy to get where your going ;) and going ;) and going :) Of course; he could have gotten in big trouble if anyone had known. I had a great time and was on Cloud 9 for days; maybe weeks. No regrets ever; only Great Memories!!!
They stopped wearing those outfits sometime during their tv show, which was called Happening '68, and then just Happening. They did because it was affecting how they were perceived because it was starting to affect their career. It's unfair, as many of the groups at the time used gimmicks. You mentioned them also being compared to the Beatles, and the Beatles themselves used their hair style as a gimmick.
I think that this vid is probably from their European tour in 1969.
Hi, Marlo, I remember you from the chats, You talked to Mark * said Oh God. He said something like, not god but this is Mark Sad I see the radio program is gone, I never talked to him but he is a cutie!

Man you're lucky. I'm 17, so whenever I turn on the radio I have to hear the crap that gets put out today, I have to plug my ipod in to hear all the good stuff like The Beatles, Paul Revere, the solo work of The Beatles.
Last I heard he was hosting a radio show in Washington or Oregon state on Saturday nights. He has a website and he still looks gorgeous. He was living in Hawaii.
How anyone can compare Mark to Justin Timberfake is insulting to say the least. In no way, fashion or form, does Justin sing this hot or ooze the appeal Mark had. And it is funny how someone would comment on his age. Age happens to all of us. Even with plastic surgery, one grows old inside. And on the outside one can look scary after too many surgeries.
The guys would sing this to the girls in my high school at the time. They either got slapped in the face or laughed at. Most of us guys usually walked around with sore faces!
I don't remember what year this was, but I was a huge PR&TR fan, and madly in love with Mark. And I probably didn't totally understand this song at the time, but I was pretty sure I'd let Mark do whatever it was that he wanted to do!.... :)
I remember being 13, having to wash the dishes after dinner while listening to "Let Me" full blast on the radio. This song really pissed my parents off! All that MAMAMAMAMAMAMAMA and all the hidden meaning. Lol!
Glad the girl brought the drinks at the end! I was gettin' thirsty!
Poor Paul, sitting back there pretty much ignored. Mark really knew how to put on a show, now Paul puts on the show these days!
Hate those psychedelic clothes. Everyone looks like Beatles final days, McCartney hair. Glad Paul got 'em back in the 3 cornered hats for last 35 years!
I am referring to top artist sales, not individual records. I know Build me up Buttercup was a top record, but the Foundations werent in the top artists.

Marks show ended about a year ago (on the radio) when his restaurant, Mark Lindsays Rock and Roll Cafe went under.
To my knowledge he still lives in Portland. He was in Hawaii but came to Portland. He may have gone back to Hawaii, who really knows.

Actually, Marks radio show went off the air. Format changes in radio are far too frequent sometimes.

"ilike"+"artist"+"paul+revere+and+the+raiders"+"let me". Longer version. Then choose the legend of paul Revere (bottom).

One of the best songs by Paul Revere and the Raiders and Mark Lindsay, remembering my early years in Jr High back in 1969.

I remember being 13, having to wash the dishes after dinner while listening to "Let Me" full blast on the radio. This song really pissed my parents off! All that MAMAMAMAMAMAMAMA and all the hidden meaning. Lol!

As I hear all these old songs the memories come back. I was so in love with Mark Lindsey. I'm afraid to ask what happened to him.

Memorial Day seems to be bringing the Raiders out of the woodwork.
