I would categorize interactions into two broad categories - transactional and immersive. I think the experience, the emotion and the user's story with the device come into play only when the product or service is more immersive than transactional. For the transactional experience, I think the aesthetics of interaction are more important. In a sense, it's better to make the interface as simple as possible, so that the experience of the transaction would be seamless.
