  • man ..shes not asleep .... she dead..

  • american playing indian?

  • oh yeah man i remember stuff from when i was not even born, sitars are very spiritual instruments

  • They were Arabs, not Indian. Thats like confusing Chinese with Native Americans.

  • Why would you choose to play a sitar? That's the kind of music those guys that bombed the twin towers were probably rocking out to.

  • @Mageros In addition to sitarpyar's observation that Indians and Arabs are different groups. I encourage you to consider the following.

The U.S.A. has been at war with Britain, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Austria, Japan, to name a few. Taking your statement to its logical conclusion (we shun the music of a culture that has attacked us), we (U.S. citizens) should not listen to the various classical composers, the Beatles, J.Lo, music from many video games etc. Is that a world you want to live in?

  • She's 4 now and seems to be just fine......Very musically inclined, so all the advice about music from the moment their born is true!

  • @sitarpyar

Wow! I was thinking "that baby might just end up loving music, especially the sitar as she grows up". So adorable!

  • should you have your baby that close to the sitar? there eardrums are not fully developed.

  • Reminds me of Battlefield 2 xD

  • cutedoll

  • Great man! You are lucky you can do riyaz. When I begin to play my sitar, I get kicked out of the home by my wife :(

  • Great, man!!! I use to play sitar for my first son. When my wife was pregnant.

    Great experience!

    Congratulation for your sensibility.

  • The sitar must be a pain in the ass to tune

  • @79902625

It is a bit of work to tune a sitar, its not the sheer amount of strings, but more the fact that the tuning pegs are just wooden sticks locked in place by friction.

But my sitar stays tuned for suprisingly long.

  • That is a very cool video with your baby sleeping.

  • <3!

  • awesome

  • must be a pain in the ass to tune that bitch never the less change the strings.

  • @pinkpop91764 If it WAS out of tune who'd know?

  • Looks dangerous for the baby.

  • How many stings? :o

  • @DJTerrorest commonly around 18

  • @xAusrotten actually it can be 21,22, or 23

  • we like this video, the sitar and the baby

  • this is just the interval when this musician stops playing his favorite stratocaster, he plays iron maiden 90% of the time, and 10% sitar. his baby lost the audition 1 week after birth due to the stratocaster.

  • very cute...lol. i have a neice. maybe i should sing to her.

  • hey thanx for replying to my comment oh so long ago. YES!! Music is magical in that it really does affect your mental patterns. Ya know that if your listening to music and your really into it and/or are like me and you play an instrument; after a while your heartbeat actually beats to the song!!! OH I LOVE MUSIC

  • lol the baby

  • theres a bass sitar?

  • @Rawk10 LMAOOOOOO

  • @Rawk10 The man's elbow is no where near hurting his baby. He knows what he is doing.

  • aww what a cute little baby! but like...aren't you scared your elbow hits her face or something...?

  • Aw that must make the baby feel so rerlaxed with such music to fall asleep and wake up to.

  • lucky child

  • what a way to wake up every morning, your daughter is blessed to have a father like you!

  • awesome dude!!!

  • it's nice to see white guys who can play indian instruments properly

  • LOL tHT baBY lOOKs In quite dAnger

  • wow! nice one!

  • Lovely. absolutely lovely

  • it is actually called a surbahar, great playing

  • The Bass Sitar is often called something else, but for whatever reason i can't remember what right now! I really should know it! Sitar is a very relaxing instrument I even find playing Indian music ,both on a CD & actually playing an instrument,to be calming

  • Its Surbahar..

  • I believe it's called a surbahar.

  • exposing your child to music when they are very young seems to calm them. Id love to hear a sitar everytime i woke up

  • @ElectricSpirit It actually effects how her brain is developing.

  • @ElectricSpirit I remember as a child (from the age of 3 and up), my dad playing the vinyl records of sitar maestros. It was a great feeling to wake up to.

  • Very niceeee

  • nice

  • she i so relaxed! kieran

  • My sitar teacher once said:

    "Indian music is very soothing".

This video seems to proove it.

  • @Noiseferatu different forms of indian music arent very soothing at all. annoying as fuck!

  • @Noiseferatu listne to the music i love it lol

  • Very cool.

  • :o damn.

  • haha thats so cool i didnt know bass sitars existed lol

  • beauty

  • Hi ! Good vid but tooooo short really ! Cheers !

  • That is sooo beuatiful! You should make a longer video, i need something like this to do yoga to. So hard to find sitar music with the right feeling/vibe to it. But you got it!

  • those little knobs? do those tune the strings? or what

i wanna learn about these amazing instruments =P

  • all the knobs along the neck and head of the instrument are tuning pegs. there are also tuning beads for each of the playing strings, usually found close to the bridge

  • Probably hurting that little baby's ears.

  • If you get it in India, it will cost between $250 and $350 depending on quality, and then you can ship it to North America for about $60 by sea.

In North America, the price is double or triple that.

  • beautiful dude, im going to be saving up for a sitar, i could really use some help on figuring it out whe i get it :D

  • nasty 0_o

  • how much do one of these things cost and where can you find them?

  • what's he playing?

  • a sitar

  • i meant the song he was playing

  • o! haha, i have no clue

  • It probably wasn't a song, it was probably just some sort of improvisation. A lot of Indian music is improvised, although he might have been playing a fixed melody. It's too hard to tell.

  • Not a sitar but a surbahar. Very similar in appearance but larger than a sitar and pitched lower. Sitars are usually tuned to C# or D. Surbahars usually in the G-A range. The style of playing also differs somewhat.

  • well said =)

  • Some nice surbahar riffs!

  • Every time I see this I think it's so sweet!!!

Nick aka Trippy Monkey of UK

  • wowo your daughter can sleep... by the video name I was expecting so kind of indian rock and roll wake up, but your vesion is much better! good job!

  • namstey baby sitar,

  • Your daughter will grow up to be a surbahar genious!

  • haha!

  • thats great, ur daughter is so fortunate. I posted in my clips a photo of ustad amir khan, who played tampura on the floor, and under this tampura his son used to sleep, and heart his father divine singing even in his sleep...
