most people don't know that the actual "dynamic event"-system in "Guild Wars 2" is a upgraded version of the "Warhammer Online" Public Quest-and Lootsystem. Improved but not new. Nevertheless i think "Guild Wars 2" right now is lightyears ahead of all other MMORPG's i can think of... not only because of these improved systems... also because of the personal story, Jeremy Soule's music, action-oriented gameplay, the HUGE amount of recorded dialogue and so on... i realy want to play this game...

The only thing that will kill WoW is a top notch marketing strategy (scheme) backed by millions of dollars which was the ONLY reason WoW got so popular in the first place. Anet likely doesn't have these things, so it wont beat WoW. Obviously, it'll be a better game. Most MMOs are better than WoW, but the current WoW players wont realize that, and non gamers wont realize that either.Even with marketing, it may not work because WoW got most of the non gamers/mmo players already

@ElderhuskyV Apparently they'll be doing beta weekends, so a number of people will be invited and test from a friday to sunday, then another set of players invited for another weekend, so I guess it's still a bit of luck whether you get in or not.

I can't wait to see exactly how big of an impact Guild Wars 2 will have on the mmo genre. I'm not just talking about the competition between this and WoW, even though it is obivious to me that WoW has already started gearing up to go head-to-head with Guild Wars 2. Did you notice? Anyway, back to the point. I really believe that Guild Wars 2 will forever revolutionize the MMO genre as a whole. I think it will completely redefine what we consider an MMO in the future. I don´t like wow its not for me, Im more a casual player , Im excited with GW2 but many people dont like the dirrection of GW2, include many friends of mine. @BlitZWTF WoW has been dieing for months, if not years. With all the new MMOs coming out, it's really getting some competition. And with all these fuck ups and patches WoW keeps shitting out, especially their upcoming expansion "Mist's Of Pandaria", I personally think WoW has killed themselves.

@valdar666 Well they were in the previous Warcrafts. But were only intoduced as a joke. I like the idea, but doesn't fit with the MMO, or any MMO really. It just seems to kiddy, and most players haven't seen them before. Mainly it just doesn't appeal to the playerbase.

@BlitZWTF i understand u really and i agree with you. gw2 and wow shouldnt be compared since the game mechanics are different IMO. WoW based on a main quest line that every single person has to do, which gives you the feeling of being hero #xxxxx to do the quest and so on and as u know gw2 doesnt have any quests at all which in turn makes u feel more unique which is also one of the many goals arenanet had for gw2 gameplay :)

I'm not suprising. Just what I predicted... so far. In late August they did mention that they were close to alpha, and my guess was that right after they would revael their last profession, which was the mesmer, they would start on the closed beta. And I suggested aswell that at the beginning of February they will continue (on alpha?). Now they have almost revealed their whole schedule. The beta determines the release, and if I were to guess again, then I would say around summer... 79 %
