I just got the SNK MVS version for my cabinet and just finished it on there before posting here, i think it's easier smashing an arcade machines buttons as they don't move and you can mash 'em good!

You pretty much have to push the button faster than the computer/other person. You can reverse the move when you push fast enough. The problem is that the computer can "push" the button faster than any player. The further you are in the game, the less likely you are to win the grappling sequence.
If you pick them up while they are on the floor, you will automatically win that grapple, but you can only do it twice per knockdown.
hmmmm.,.... I notcied the computer is pretty cheap..... so it IS a matter of timing not of how fast u move the JS like the the sequel? Thanks.... I didnt realize that... went by KOTM 2s grpple system
I had the Megadrive/Genesis version and that had only four characters too. I rather enjoyed it, if it was a little clunkly in places. I've wanted the chance to play the Neo Geo version, is it worth downloading it on the Wii's virtual console?
here's my take on this: while both versions of KOTM on both the Wii Virtual Console and the SNK Arcade Classics compilation are the same, the Virtual Console port is the AES version which has limited continues per player, while the SNK AC version allows you to continue as many times as you like.
What a game. Does anyone know some good strategies like how to reverse the monsters grapple moves? I Just got the SNK Classics Volume 1 and I can get through the first set of the monsters without losing, but the second set is pretty tough.
Man, this game is awesome. I had the genesis version, which unfortunatly cut out Woo and Poison Ghost.
I should nab this version for my Wii.

Yes it is but if you buy SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 you not only get this but others. However, the choice is up to you.

I know this seems like an impossible dream now, but SNK just HAS to revive this series.

They are coming out with a SNK Arcade Classics V.1 for PS 2 and PSP it will have the King of the Monsters game in the volume
