  • My boyfriends back is mighty hairy...

  • Yes, this was the Ed Sullivan Show. All of the live performances ended with those "flourishes"

  • i like how the lead singer starts jammin toward the ending :)

  • I like this better than the recorded version played on the radio

  • I think Im in love with that brunette in the middle

  • @impassable Her name is Peggy Santaglia, and she's still around. In fact, quite a few of her compositions (she wrote songs as well) were quite big hits.

  • Pretty rockin' for three white girls with bouffants!

  • We have to sing this in choir.

  • lmao @:steezy4jeremy,thx I needed a good laugh an u gave me just that =)

  • They look like they're having the time of their lives. Their joy is making me smile! Great song.

  • For those of you stating that they can't sing..do you realize this is way back in the 60's? Before most of you were BORN? :)

This is GREAT music & they had GREAT talent in their time.

    -33

  • They are SO fine.

  • I wonder where the boyfriend was gone to

  • my ringtone<3

  • 11 ppl didn't like the classics

  • wow this is great thnx for posting:}

  • I love this:) haha I performed when I was little to this song, but it was a newer verison. I was the green little girl, if you wanna see (embarrassing) heh, just look up, "my boyfriend's back" It was at one of my dance competitions.. (jazz)!! Message me about it:)

  • @pens87rock That was you!! Oh I watched that like 5 times back 2 back when I first saw it lol...I loved the dance & you guys did sooo well, regardless of the disagreeing comments about it. You were REALLY into the song, more so than the others lol. It made you stand out though

  • @sexynettyboo Haha thanks so much:) and I was the weird oneXD haha I loved it:D My teacher told me to "out-do" the routine and make it "pop" everyone says it's really cute:) haha:D it was kinda embarrassing because my mom brought in the tape for the class and everyone saw it:O haha it was umm.. "interesting" lol thanks:)

  • Of children like me that do actually appreciate the kind of idols as you do! I mean my idol is Michelle Obama I am English btw :) but I do resent the tag of stupidity that is put on young people just because of women like rhianna, Katy perry and if course the infamous miley Cyrus. But please exept that many young people have brains!

    Yours angrily

    -rachael 

  • I do wonder why adults pin children like me at the age of 12 as sluts or having no social and/or intellectual skills. Yes sometimes my mum does call me cultural vacuum of course because I only found out who chuck Norris was like two days ago but don't pin the latest generation as listed above. I do see your points sometimes I mean some girls in my year are I mean...uck! But there are still a large number.....

  • They can not sing

  • Regarding how I know about the Sullivan Show, I have a close singer friend who appeared on the program many times and she told me about how the show was done. I also have friends at Motown who gave the same information.

  • And I agree with the others that this is The Ed Sullivan Show, not Clay Cole. Clay Cole (who passed away not long ago) was a wonderful institution on the New York teen music scene but his shows were noted for economy rather than lavish or inventive sets. In fact, WPIX sadly erased the tapes they had of his broadcasts in order to re use them!

  • I saw them doing an oldies show at the World Trade Center plaza (!) in the 1990's. They were great. It may just be my gaydar (which is never wrong) but I got the feeling they are lesbians.

  • @ZarahLean LOL Either way they're fabulous! At least you have gaydar! I'm a gay guy and I have NO sense of gaydar whatsoever! Frustrating! LOL! Lesbian or straight, I love these ladies! What a wonderful opportunity to see them, at the World Trade Center Plaza no less! What an amazing memory to have!

  • 10 people's boyfriend's did not come back

  • Actually the note about it being the Ed Sullivan show and not the Clay Cole show may be true. Clay Cole's show couldn't afford such a lavish set... SERIOUSLY!

Also, the Clay Cole Show had "Marcia and Kelly" ... "up in the cages" ... as Clay Cole put it, dancing their little butts off.

  • The lyrics hilariously date the song, but it's still a ridiculously catchy classic.

  • her boyfriend's connected

  • wat id give to have the 3 of em in tha backseat of my 63 nova lol (i think my car is about 2 months older than this recording lol)

  • Bonin' Alone?

  • stubbs the zombie

  • and today the song goes my boyfriend black and likes me cuz i,am white and on my back

  • @ihatebadmusic41566 omg I got a stomach ache laughing at your comment and I'm black. You are seriously sick!! rotf

  • seems from the 0's D:

  • Lot of dippity doo!

  • Growing up and listening to my mum's records I thought they were black and younger. Lol. x

  • Vanessa lengies brought me here:)

  • i like the paris benette better

  • this reminds me of the snl skit with kristen wigg with the baby hands lol

  • The girl on the viewers right, looks a lot like Piper Perabo. She could easily play here in a movie.

  • THEY LOOK WORN OUT

  • Now THAT is direction...cut to #2...WAIT AND SEE!

  • So did lip syncing start in the 60s? I always watch these old "live" performances, like on various variety shows ad stuff and they never have mics and the sound quality sounds exactly like the recording...

  • Sullivan allowed lip synching only when an arrangement for his orchestra had not yet been prepared, which was the case with the fifth performance of "Love Child." WIth "Aquarius" and five singers and a complicated instrumentation they could not get the sound balanced so resort to lip synching. Singing on this show was a nightmare. It was hard to hear the orchestra and to hear your own voice.

  • @waynebrasler It sounds to me you're talking from experience?

  • love this song!!!:)

  • @waynebrasler Well, we want to know, are you speaking from experience or do you know someone who performed though! Tell us :)

  • @waynebrasler The vocals sound live here.

  • i clicked this because i thought it said my boyfriends black

  • @steezy4jeremy have another cone

  • @steezy4jeremy lol funny and a bit racist lol

  • @steezy4jeremy in 1963 that would have certainly been revolutionary. And likely fatal.

  • @sadisticon LOL!!! :)

  • @steezy4jeremy LOL!

  • @steezy4jeremy i do that too read back as black sometimes. but if you change the word to black while they singing it is hilarious

  • @steezy4jeremy lol substituting back for "black" really makes the song funny.

  • It really could apply to Jesus and the Devil or to the the guy she was singing to, I don't fuckin' know.

  • What do they call it when they speed up a video just enough to make room for more commercials? You are not supposed to notice but sometimes it's more apparent than others. It's that case here, either that or they just took a big blast of crystal meth.

  • Man i would totally bone all three, i know im not alone.

  • @Herc2770 They're like, 75 years old plus now. With walkers.

But I know what you mean.

    -Bill

  • @Herc2770 I bet they are all in their 60s or 70s now

  • @Herc2770 LMAO....funniest comment I've seen in years....

  • @Herc2770

    Hey what can i say,

    GIGGITY, GIGGITY, GIGGITY, GOO!!

  • @Herc2770 I just want the one in the middle.

  • @Herc2770 Well, they're probably in their 70s now, so go ahead if that's what you like.

  • @Eball06 Well are'nt you as sharp as a razor blade? I thought this was a recent video of a new band that just came out. Gee,thanks!

  • @Eball06 They were totally hot back then! The lead singer is like 67 now I think, the other two are a couple years older. The lead was still doing recordings as recent as 2008. It'd be nice if we had women like that now more often, who didn't think they had to go around and look and act like gross sluts just to fit in with modern society!

  • @gaymalesmokerfetish Yeah, the era of quality women like them are long gone.

  • @Herc2770 Lmao, I don't think you want to bang someone's grandmother.

  • @Herc2770 you aren't

  • @Herc2770 This was when girls were beautiful.. Now there just sluts.

  • @comments23 Damn, I know. Its disapointing that women today are so nieve and weak willed.

  • @casatube No, its completley normal! At least you like this good music unlike that heavy metal crap that you can't even tell what they are even SAYING!

  • Is it weird that I'm a straight guy, and I like this song?

  • @casatube87 Not a bit. Straight guys can have good taste too.

  • @casatube87 Actually it's weird that you ask such a weird question. This was also John Wayne's favorite song and he was straight too so don't be so nervous and insecure about your sexual preferences you big girl.

  • @casatube87 no, it be weird if guys were singing this song

  • Doesn't look like The Ed Sullivan Shoe set either.

  • @georgemickle It IS from the Ed Sullivan show! as i have the clip somewhere with Ed introducing them.

  • That was 25 years before I was born.

  • hahha these girls are great hehe

  • While I agree that it does look like they were lip-synching to a pre-recorded track, I must disagree with the info from the poster. I'm pretty sure Ed Sullivan required entertainers to perform LIVE on his show. At least that's how I remember it. This would make it much more likely that it is, in fact, from the Clay Cole Show.

  • @gjm1953 It's from Ed Sullivan, there's a clip on the net somewhere with ed's intro in tact. and besides, absolutely nothing exists of the Clay Cole show anymore.

  • @CenaTv2 What about the "No Lip-Synching" thing on Sullivan? Wasn't that the way he did his show? I suppose I could have imagined that, but it seems accurate to me.

  • @gjm1953 It was always live on sullivan. There is only a few times that things were lip synced, like "do you believe in magic" by The Lovin' Spoonfull, in which it had to be lip synced due to all the special effects and different sets that they had to stand on etc..

  • @CenaTv2 There were more times when artists lip-synched on Ed Sullivan. Right now I remember The Supremes in "Love Child" and The Fifth Dimension in "Aquarius" but there were many more.

  • Im White but these chicks look "Cloroxed" to me Now.

    I loved them bacccckkkkk thennnnn.

Oh yea, I'm old but still I'm "rocking".

  • Wouldn't the angels appearence on the ed sullivan show have taken place in feburary if 1964?

  • @Freyja1133 You're exactly right, it was 2/64.

  • I wish i grew up in this era. :) What will people think when I'm at a stop light pumping this? haha can't wait for that. :D

  • @MyNozeIsFroze If you had been 18 in this era, that would make you 66 years old. I do not believe there was anything good about the good old days. Cars in those days did not have air conditioning. Boys were dying in Vietnam left and right, women were treated horribly in the workplace and if you were pregnant, there was no such thing as maturnity leave. No cell phones, facebook, or internet either. It is okay to dream though. I do it too. I would not mind time travel for one day only

  • I love this song...it reminds me of something my guy would do...and he's 7 foot 2 lol

  • The optics don't go with the lyrics! It's so weird--they look like they were somehow magically transported to this set from the Tupperware meeting in their neighbor Joanie's living room.

  • this song is so amazing

  • It's live from Sullivan with a typical E.S.O. ending. The mics were overhead like many early Sullivan shows . The clapping is coming from off-stage, the girls are clapping for effect. This was lifted from kiniscope and the timing goes off in the

transfer. This is 100% live with Sullivans orchestra backing.

  • was this one of the songs where a black artist did this first?

  • i other words, I've cheated, and this is damage limitation...

  • You would think they'd look like the Shangri Las, not the Chordettes...you'd think so, and you would be WRONG, bong breath!!! (I'm so old, I'm hoping somebody gets a Johnny Carson reference!)

  • the hess trucks back and its better than ever

  • It's a very catchy song.

  • dam the chick in the middle looks like she's 40 yrs old,and the others looks like they are in thier 30;s.. all of them look old

  • dam the chick in the middle looks like she's 40 yrs old

  • I love how you hear clapping even when they aren't clapping

  • i did that 4 me concert song

  • This song is also a great moment in the legendary movie "the Wanderers", when they've a party at Richie's girlfriend house.

  • The year I was born. Dec. 1963. Damn, I'm getting old.

  • If you were faithful... just saying. Whore

  • thumbs up if - 7 year old dancers brought you here

  • Slut shoud have just kept her legs shut. At least then she wouldn't have to wait for her borfriend to save her sorry ass!

  • This just popped into my head and I couldn't get rid of it. Thank heavens for Youtube.

  • the reason why i searched this up cause they went with the jeresy boys for some reason, but im not sure.

  • Why are women always starting fights? ;)

  • The Mothers of Invention did my favorite cover of this.

  • If there is a reason as to why this is in my head, I do not care to know it.

  • The women from the old days are so gorgeous. Why are they so beautiful?

  • @LaoSoftware they didnt have a SHITLOAD of hormones in the food... nor did they have plastic surgery. nor did they have fast food places everywhere and lazy americans.lol

  • @pinkaddiction13 and television.. everWHERE

  • The women from the old days are so gorgeous. Why are they so beautiful?

  • 3 people must be deaf. What a great song from a great era of music.

  • how old were they here?

  • LOOK AT THE HAIR

  • Forget her, she's as gay as hell!

  • omg i love blink 182, im excited now, loll, thankyooouuuu!

  • someone should remake this song.

not that they didnt do a great job!

it would just be interesting to hear.(:

  • @MiniMe1316

You'll probably lose the will to live but Youtube Blink 182 - My Boyfriend's Back. (They were drunk when they recorded it as a joke).

  • @Donnelly182 Don't worry. Blink 182 did not record this song. It is falsely labeled on the internet. It has been falsely attributed to Blink 182 ever since file sharing began. The supposed Blink 182 version has a totally different sound than typical Blink 182. With the true Blink 182 cover songs, they play it in their style with their amps and instruments, and the supposed Blink 182 version is clearly not their style and with different instruments and amps.

  • Okay.. Who cares.. The Angels were great performers either way, Lip synching or not..

  • i love this music but their mouths scare me when they move...... im 13 yrs old

  • they should change of the title of this song to 'you're so getting you're ass kicked'

  • A #1 hit for The Angels in September 1963.

  • Most groups then and now have prerecorded tracks without vocals, but I'm 99% sure this wasn't the case....Notice they didn't have vocal mics, which means that if they would have sung live to a prerecorded track they would use overhead area microphones which also means as they would move forward, backward or whatever, you would hear perceptible changes in both their vocal volumes and the blends of their harmonies...if the track was off, it would always be off but her lip sync fluctuates

  • @TheRudeman50 OK, taking all your good points on board....how does one explain the way her voice does change in the spoken intro when she puts the phone down, and the noise the phone makes? I wonder if perhaps the spoken bit is live, but the rest isn't? For whatever reason. Perhaps to give something for people decades later to talk about! Otherwise they would have had to put the phone clunk on the soundtrack, which seems unlikely to me.

  • @nearlyoutofideas I think you are right about the song was pre - recorded but the spoken intro was live - as I believe that the track would've been recorded by the TV staton for miming - just like Procession did for Uptight.

  • @nearlyoutofideas On my original VHS "Girl Groups," this clip is perfectly in synch. Makes you wonder... and most kids with garage Band on their imacs have better recording facilities than anyone did in 1963 eh ? '; )

  • it's most definitely prerecorded---take it from a lifelong musician who's done these shows...They often had several prerecorded versions for TV ---Check their lips are way out of sync in some parts especially in the scat section.....also the claps are not in perfect time to the track . ....the part where they go out of tune is tape warp.....the whole tune goes wonky

  • @TheRudeman50 OK, you've made me think now! Is it possible that the backing was pre-recorded but the vocals are live? I assume that was do-able in 1963. That would explain things like pre-recorded handclaps but still hearing the clunk of the phone at the start.

  • @TheRudeman50 Re the vocals and syncing - it's possible the program I used put them just a little bit out of sync (not enough to generally notice but maybe there) - and I have a theory re the scat bit where the sound goes wonky. I suspect the picture must have done so as well, and whoever did this video covered it up by inserting excerpts from earlier in the clip. Hence looking like they're singing different bits.

Such is my theory. Yes, I do like to over think things!

  • is this song by the american dream or by this group?!

  • Such a wonderful, snotty song!

  • Blink 182 brought me here.

  • Thumbs up if Stubbs the Zombie brought you here! :)

  • @Algahiem Memories bought me here. I was 8 years old in 1963

  • @rockinrobintweets LOL I was 0 in 1963...until Septemeber of 63.

  • @calimar28 Spet of 1963, then you DID make it to the party. WELCOME TO THE PARTY Little one

  • @rockinrobintweets Thanks

  • I like it when the middle one goes off on one , like the E just kick in lol

  • @grobles810 Well it's not a music video, it's a live performance, so...

  • Barbara Allbut(girl on the left) lookslike Janet Lennon

  • This was when my mum was 1 years old >:D

  • BLINK 182 VERSION IS ALOT BETTER!!! Haha its a joke but its good

  • I wish I were there at that time and I would still be good-looking boy. Just a dream.

  • Please , look at what you are looking at. If you just want to hear the music, go to 45rpm or original version. Never go to any cover group as they are not the original performers.

  • @SLAPDASHdiiip

And you know what? Times change! I'm sure many people in that time period would have said the same sort of thing.

  • @SLAPDASHdiiip

Oh come on, please don't start! On the American Dreams version of this song there is an rude, offensive, homophobic, anti women's/civil rights, and heated arguement going on in the comments. Guess how it started! A comment like yours!
