  • Dylan is pissed

  • Is there any transcription of this? I don't understand much.

  • One joker to another...there bullshitting each other for all to hear now! Don't I wish I could have been photographing this conversation. <3

To play with words for a living...that is life at it's best!

  • @venisburning There is a video of this on youtube, they are in a limo Beatles picked Bob up from airport. I think Bob passes out.

  • Awesome! I wish I was there! Sounds like fun!

  • High.

    Shame.

    Not role models.

  • @southsidesman Did they ever claim to be role models?

  • @bauersnarky By words? No.

    By actions? Yes.

    Which one speaks louder?

  • @southsidesman So, because their actions don't happen to cater to your definition of a 'role model,' you believe you have the authority to judge both John Lennon and Bob Dylan's character, careers, and contributions to the world based on something they did privately in the 60's that happened to be captured on tape that day? Unless "southsidesman" is the YouTube account of the fucking Virgin Mary, or somebody who's never done anything wrong in their life, you need to get off your high horse.

  • @bauersnarky Lucy in the sky with diamonds something privately?

Look I don't beat any down, I pray Dylan's right with GOD, nobody's perfect, they used to be my heroes. But it's no secret they lead a great multitude down the wrong path, if guys like'em say they didn't, they're lying. Dylan lead Lennon to drugs, my goodness. Drugs ravaged Lennon. The more adamantly you defend them not being role models, the more you prove they are. All before two eyes, are role models. We lead to good or evil.

  • @southsidesman Dylan did expose drugs to the Beatles. John Lennon took drugs to the point were it was a problem. But you can't blame Dylan. But I do support your comment ad share my opinion

  • @southsidesman Presumably as a grown adult Lennon could have said, "no" to drugs at any point, if he had wanted to, couldn't he? The fact is drugs were part of the scene then, and probably the songs written would not have been the same - esp dylan's lyrics and imagery, which blew Lennon away and were a massive influence.

  • @THthefirst Soo....your saying drugs WERE good, and instead of discouraging it... it gives you SUPERpowers.

    Not role models pt. 2

  • @southsidesman Who ever said they held themselves up as role models? None of them ever said that. Dylan never wanted to be one. Why do you insist on labelling them as such? They were very creative artists, and it is their work that matters, that will live on, not the individuals themselves with their flaws. Who cares about Mozart, Shakespear, Dylan etc as people? It's their work that is timeless. You have a strange perspective on this. Are you in rehab?

  • @THthefirst Am I in rehab, what's that some dig? What if I was in rehab, this is a huge burden on people! It has destroyed peoples lives! Families! Slow death and gunfire - go ask the residents leaving towns in Mexico because punk drug dealers have invaded/infested, decapitate, poured blood, seized and forced them to flee!

I too am an artist, but creativity is a gift from GOD - NOT Satan! Drugs are the face of Satan. And yes, I CARE about the soul of the artist - far above ANY of their works!

  • @southsidesman They can lead all they want, that dosen't mean people have to follow. Having said that, I pretty much agree with what your sayin'. People hold these guys up so high they practically worship them as people tend to do with celebrities I don't believe inthat. go ahead, appreciate what somebody does but noone should ever worship a fellow human being, I don't care how fucking great they think they are.

  • I need subtitles. :D

  • This is so awesome so in what year did this happen?

  • they are so stoned

  • dude. they are so wasted.

  • There's a video of this. Lennon and Dylan are riding through London in the back of a car in early '66 and it's said that Dylan was on smack for the first time. He kinda falls apart in the car, slurrung his words, getting sick and finally throws up out the window at the end of the clip just as the film runs out.

  • @Bopalena please supply the clip

  • @altidag89 - Just look on Youtube under "Bob Dylan John Lennon Part 1" and then part 2 and part 3. For some reason the last part of part 3 is silent and they put in some Dylan music over it as you see Bob get sick and finally put his head out the window to barf just as the film runs out.

  • @altidag89 This is it: /watch?v=nMdNlzRK59s

  • Lennon was in awe of Dylan, I think that sums it up.

  • One of the greatest composers talking to one of the greatest lyricists!

  • Honestly, you can't say that bob or Lennon is better because that is based of opinion, but let's face it, they were both incredibly talented songwriters. Just different. They had different expiriences, styles of music.

  • John Dylan rocks. Bob Lennon is cool also.

  • I like what "thriftables" had to say. These guys are partying, and making small talk, but because Bob is intoxicated, it becomes even more than "small talk": it's Bob trying to feel important around John Lennon, or at least relate...but John has the arrogance on his side, where Bob's guard is down, and he's just trying to be real.

  • Bob is is drunk. He's slurring and stoned at the same time. John is being respectful, but teasing him. That's what I hear.

    This is great!

  • "Johns gonna shit again." lol

  • That's ridiculous. John Lennon does not hold a candle to Bob Dylan's songwriting ability. Masters of War, Times They are a-Changin', Like a Rolling Stone, Blowin' in the Wind, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, It's All Over Now Baby Blue, Mr. Tambourine Man, etc. etc.. I love John Lennon also, but let's be realistic Bob Dylan is the greatest songwriter ever. His lyrics have literary value far superior to anything John Lennon ever wrote.

  • @yrocnaeb Songwriting encompasses composing music and not just lyrics. Lennon wrote some amazing tunes. Dylan's melodies all sound the same, and sound more like talking -- they cannot hold a candle to Lennon's tunes. So to say that Lennon cannot hold a candle to Dylan's songwriting ability is absurd.

  • @angelthman What's all this talk of holding candles to each other. Did they not have light bulbs in the 60's?

  • @angelthman agreed. i wouldn't really call bob dylan's talent songwriting, but words. john lennon writes better music

  • @bournebeats so you think that Dylan doesnt write the music to go along with his words?

  • @runelord37 no I do, but I don't think that's where his brilliance lies. i think when it comes to words there's none other like him, but musically he's not one of the greatest artists of all time (in my opinion). for example bob dylan compared to freddie mercury. now freddie mercury is in a different class musically, but dylan's music has had just as much, if not more, impact because of his words, and for being around in a key period in music. this is just how i feel though not looking to argue

  • @bournebeats your opinion is fine, but i thinking your confusing pop or rock composing with folk and the sub genres Bob is a master at. If you understand the body of Dylan's work, you dont compare composition to Mercury because thats a matter of taste and genre. you have to compare it to like music in order to understand his talent. When comparing Dylan song stucture and progression composition to others in his genre he is simply superior. so your really just saying you prefer a style. :) peace

  • @runelord37 i know what you're saying, but i didn't mean it like that. i meant musical talent wise (freddie's vocal ability and instrumental ability) there are more skilled artists. even a lot of fans will acknowledge that. but he's in a league of his own in other areas.

for example i love john lennon, but i know there are better singers/instrumentalists out there. doesn't necessarily mean they make better music, true, but that was all i was saying. peace back at ya!

  • @bournebeats or @runelord37: I don't think there are too many better singers than John Lennon! Maybe Paul McCartney (circa 1970).

  • @charold3 jeff buckley.

  • @charold3 Hilarious! John himself, and Bob somewhat less, always wanted to sing like Smokey (but don't get caught).

  • @yrocnaeb A day in the life nuff said. Dylan licker

  • Make what you want of it, as far as I'm concerned, it's nothing more than just two guys bullshitting. People love to try to figure this and that, it's all a waste of time. It's nice to know they had a good rapport

  • Calms me down. Love them.

  • totally out of it

  • @magico240 they were completely different ages and had had different experiences at that time, you cant compare.

  • @MAGICO240 he's just older. you're comparing apples and oranges.

  • @MAGICO240 ill take in my life, day tripper, help, ticket to ride, the word, etc etc.. there is no comparison.. lennon better songwriter, better musician , better singer..

  • @MAGICO240 Bob Dylan wrote Blowing in the Wind in 1962, not 1965.

  • @xxxPurplexGirlxxx So that makes him much more advanced for his time.

  • "I come from the land of paradise, man."

    "Sounds great:"

  • bob dylan sounds like saul from pineapple express.

  • @Imdenniscampbell no. saul from pineapple express sounds like bob dylan.

  • @Imdenniscampbell wrong, Saul from pineapple express sounds like Bob Dylan..

  • "I wish I could talk english"

    "Me too Bobby"

    HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH

  • Stoners

  • so fuckin high !!

  • Now I know where cheech n chong came from.... Love you Bob!! and RIP John

  • Sooooooo stoned!!!

  • Dylan sounds like an annoying teenager not the serious folk hero

  • Bob Dylan's ten times better than John Lennon. I hate english ppeople so much. I'm english by race, I hate britishness, its all nonesense,

  • john seems more guarded about his responses. knowing he is on tape and the whole thing of protecting the beatles image. i guess he had more exposure to the media and its ramifications of saying the wrong thing at this stage.

  • Both are trying to one up each other. Very competative (sp) they were.

  • John's voice lucid and sexy as always, and making sense unlike Dylan

  • Holy hell, Bob. What planet were you on? :P

  • What a classic moment in history. High as fk lol

  • Man..Thats American bro's. C'mon man. Dylan is like so young and like surrounded by English pomp music. Love ya Bob. Thanx for keepin it real. Thats why we love you man..I learned guitar because of you.

  • @Skankindragon1: Sure, I agree, that can happen. My only aim was to point out that it can't happen all the time, and that it indeed isn't a prerequisite for cretaing good music.

I mean, Richards was supposedly so stoned the night he wrote the celebrated riff of (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction that he didn't recognize it the morning after, but that's one riff. I'd say that making brilliant music in harmony with lyrics requires a bit more focus, as simplicity is hard to create.

  • I hate how people have this urge to write 'oh man they were, like, sooo baked' under every and any clip with artists and musicians discussing various matters.

Not everybody from that field was/is high all the time, you know. Try making quality music while stoned off your ass.

In this respect, one particular Family Guy episode comes to mind ... fans will know which one I'm referring to and why. (:

  • @BossBellini true, (has seen the episode) but explain Aerosmith, who got worse in music while they got cleaner. or RHCP. many examples.

  • flying high!

  • Were they high at the time?

  • @Johnnywasherefirst Can you not tell?

  • The two greatest legends!

  • 0:33 Johnny Cash

  • i can listen to john talking all day. his voice is amazing

  • disappointing. thought they would actually have an interesting conversation.

  • this is from a taxi cab . dylan was drinking alot he got car sick.thats why he sound like all F-CK UP ! because he was.

  • bob sounds like he's doing cheech and chong impressions :p

  • "you're just interested in the big chick; shes got a hold of you, too"

    -Bob Dylan

They sound kind of high lol

  • Someone can write this here? I don't speak english and I think it would be easyer if I can see the lyrics... :)

  • i think he was drunk. who was the designated giggler btw?

  • dylan is so stoned..

  • Here's looking at you kid

  • These guys make the world go round :D

  • i think bob dylan was starstruck. i mean john was a amazing fello

  • John's talking voice is so awesome

  • These men are two kindred souls who share the same unique dynamic understanding of how much bullshit the world is full of. I just thank God there able to express that understanding in such a creative and imaginative way through the power of music. Mix that epic understanding of bullshit with the genuine heartfelt experiences they go through while existing in this realm and you have a plethora of colors that form images of a genius we recognize as the music of Bob Dylan and John Lennon

  • @TheGreatZurEnRaah Aye, shut up ya prick

  • Dylan sounds like he's about 16. He so wasted.

  • 6;20 Dylan says" I'm getting very sick here"7:27 Dylan echoes a soft drunken 'groovy" after Lennon says "groovy", then Dylan is puking (others chuckling). Then Lennon asks with a chuckle in his voice "am I gonna shit in the camera again? " 7:33 a radio voice comes on, then Lennon goes into a funny rant to get Dylan up again, then Dylan laughs. Priceless! Thats true rap!

  • Two greatest songwriters of all time afaic.

  • subtitles plx

  • I wish there was subtitles are something, I can hardly understand what they're saying. :(

  • I think it was Dylan who introduced the Beatles to pot.

  • @3ig3ang Yep, you're right.

  • bob dylan provided the vase in this conversation that held the flower of words from john lennon. bob brought out a john lennon i love 2 hear. who could engage you in conversation better than bob dylan? the master button pusher, no fool at all. what stuck me was the relaxed mid-western twang contrasted against the lovely way john lennon did not butcher the english language. where bob was quick like mercury, john contained a loveliness too good 4 this world. both men, consummate artists.

  • John is taking a piss out of Bob. So funny. Just letting Bob make a baked fool of himself.

  • I have The Ballad of Bob Dylan it has the information about this day. Bob and John were coming back home from a party where they had taken heroin and drank. John was very worried that Bob might O.D because he was new to heroin, and thats why Johns so tense and not enjoying himself. John loved Bob and they inspired each other when it came to writing. Bob actually introduced The Beatles to weed in 64, and got John into reading poems from William Blake and other beat poets.

  • Baked as tits

  • Sooo baked

  • I think Bob's smarter when he's straight, but then aren't we all. Lennon sounds very much like the Spike Milligan of pop. They're certainly not as vacuous as a lot of the turds around then and now.

  • shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, bob dylan is smart, but john lennon was smarter! our secret, don't tell anybody! :)

  • Bob Dylans so cute.

  • big stars but they're boring me. i'm at 2:52 and fading. heard more interesting conversations. did he disparage "u-2?" they're just people. jesus, too.

  • Although they definitely both have a lot of respect for each other on a musical level, there's definitely some friction between them here.

  • weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed

  • bob pwns

  • This is from Dont Look Back.

  • my god, john was so beautiful and still is. he taught bob dylan about beauty and grace. he was the sweetness bob has borrowed for life.john's gentleness in life defies the very death his lies in and is present with us still. john lennon shall always be here and i thank god bob still is.

  • @HerRoyalKateness hmmm That's interesting, you can tell "John [Lennon] was so beautiful" from hearing this taxi ride on radio recording, "and still is." Well, what to say to after that? Oh Royal Kate, we are not worthy.

  • I wish I could see video of this. I just picture dylan poking lennon like a little kid

  • @brw0044 You can! Search "John Lennon and Bob Dylan Part 1" This is from their cab ride the morning after Bob Dylan's 25th birthday party during his '66 tour of England, I do believe. That's why Bob is a bit talkative(still drunk and/ or hopped up I presume) as compared to John's relaxation(he was probably just stoned-or sober). Really awesome though, two geniuses.

  • wow what a crazy conversation " I wish I could talk english, man" XD

  • sorry robert, but johnny was a real nutter, especially in '66. i think most would''ve been jittery around him. hell, even keith fucking moon, i've heard. should've been enough to know that he did respect your work.

  • Bob Dylan "I come from the land of paradise"

    Lennon "Sounds great"

hahhaha It's unfair to judge anyone from this, speaking under the influence. Can't be held responsible lol

  • dylan had been drinking wine most of the night and this meeting was ... __________ ( fill in the blank ) ....

  • John was apparently kind of disappointed with Dylan. He was expecting this super deep guy and it ended up like when you were in high school and were talking to some super-high idiot and just saying "yes" and "sure" to whatever he said, while wishing you could be anywhere else.

  • @superman11978 that's not true, lennon loved dylan

  • the lennongate tapes

  • Lennon walks all over Dylan. Dylan is desperately trying to keep up. Lennon lets him know who's boss. Of course, nothing takes away from Dylan's genius.

  • @AtomicLobotomy At least Dylan isn't faking being all deep and stuff.

I know who I'd rather listen to, and who I'd rather have a drink with.

  • Dylan was kind of a punk. Still a genius.

  • @AtomicLobotomy he was just drunk in this XD

  • @AtomicLobotomy so was lennon to some extent, at least

  • it sounds like john lennon was trying to enjoy his trip in paradise but bob kept talking lmao

  • Can't help but think that Dylan was stoned off his face during this.

  • @mylightside obviously. stoned, and stoned drunk. look at any interview, or the docu stuff from this era.. he doesnt talk anything like this, he's fucking shitfaced. 109 sheets to the wind. about to hurl on the backseat of the limo.

  • 3:26 he said Youtube...man dylan was way ahead of his time

  • @youtuuberoxx no he didnt...

  • @youtuuberoxx - The poet was painting a picture of a time he was far behind. ^.^

  • @youtuuberoxx he says you to

  • @youtuuberoxx He said "she's gota hold of You, too"

  • @youtuuberoxx he said "you too..." but yeah it does sound like youtube, and either way, he is still ahead of his time. Kudos

  • i got stoned just listening to this!

  • Sounds like the same gibberish which most people do anywhere.

  • Dylan sounds like a retard.

  • Thumbs up if this sounds like you an your friend when your high lol?

  • WOW Lennon ran circles around Dylan in wit..I wonder how Barry McGuire and Cass from the Mamas and Papas took this, if they were alive when it came out. They must have been dead then

  • @chrstnlmllr51 in this moment Zimmy couldn't match wit with a fencepost. he's too stoned or drunk to offer even a halfway decent twisted barb. come on. on a good day, or rather a sober day, i'm sure mr zimmy could more than hold his own with lennon. but apparetnly liverpool lads can hold their liquor (or smoke) better'n Minnesota boyz, that's all.

he's about to puke fer god's sake.

  • @chrstnlmllr51 No he doesnt. He's being a douche and bobby is completely oblivious to that.

  • i wish i was as cool as BOB :(

  • im so young,is this true

  • @beans1308 thats john for sure

  • I love that picture. Dylan looks like Tim Burton...

  • @douvil TIM BURTON LOOKS LIKE BOB DYLAN

  • @douvil You've got it backwards... Tim Burton looks like Dylan!

  • neato. nice to be a "fly on the wall" of the limo

  • That one guy who disliked this is a hero.

  • @markmarktarmann. Common you've got some great jazz class! Stop defending bob Dylan and get back into your Negro roots. Stop defending the white folks bitch!

  • Man Bob was inebriated, such drunken nonsense between two very gifted & creative songwriters that illustrates that these guys were just folks who were not very creative when they were drunk but just ordinary drunk folks.

  • so stoned. or drunk . whoahhh dude. funny stuff. kinda pathetic too. how embarassing for bob.making NO sense whatever.

  • @markmarktarmann oh my god yeeeah sooooo pathetic to say things that dont make sense. look around you jackov nobody makes sense, i bet you always do though, i mean youre on youtube totally giving your all important opinion, gracing if you will, us lowly peasants who foolishly watch youtube videos with your golden word.

  • @thatjenk well, he's slurring like dean martin, and talking absolute nonsense. i've heard him speak, rather clearly, and making a lot of sense elsewhere. is that so harsh a judgement? i'm pretty sure if you played this for bobby he'd cringe, if it was me i would. chill petey... it's not all that serious, this comment stuff.

  • @markmarktarmann yeah sorry about being an ass, my bad

  • I can't understand either one of these guys. Cool. All I understood was "Bob" and "shit"

  • Theyre both fuckin geniuses, no doubt

  • ciao!!!qualche italiano sa farmi una traduzione...anche in generale...

  • Bob's drunk. Slurred speech.
