  • Great series you are doing! very helpful:-) thank you!

  • When my anxiety is high, it is constant all day. I do take meds, but sometimes it doesnt help a lot. what do i do?

  • Hi! This video and your way of coping is awesome. I have ocd and just within these past few days I have been having back to back panic attacks, needless to say, it's hell. I'm going to try this, now... Thanks again...

  • I came up with a great analogy to replace negative to positive Im starting to think of my mind like a computer I'm over riding old negative program with new inovative software the positive

  • Excellent!!

  • Hi hi! Have you considered anxiety zero technique (Go to anxiety0.info)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend pretty much cured anxiety and panic attacks with it.

  • I love the advice you have. It is the same as my councellor's advice. Panic attacks are terrible. I have had them now for 5 months. They are much better and I must say I have not had a wicked one for a long time, but do still have very high anxiety. I haven't taken ativan for 10 days straight, up until the last few days. I'm trying to figue out why? Why i can go 10 days no anxiety and then BAM!! Love the videos they are a big help to me. Thanks so much. Kerrie

  • LOL. One of my biggest causes of anxiety came from living in Napa. After I graduated College and left Napa, my problem with anxiety cleared right up. LOL

  • @bwelmhouse1 hey thank you for taking the time to help people that are not here to waste their time, its appreciated

  • @348frank348 My pleasure to share these videos! If I can be of any help to people, it makes me happy! :-)

  • Your a wonderful person and thank your for sharing your technique!

  • @noshadowmaster Thank you! :-D

  • Oh I forgot to mention:

One quote I found that helps that I wanted to pass on is:

    "I'm allowed to be wrong"

  • Oh god I so miss my Ativan :(

    Stupid Ativan immunity >:/

  • @berner Did ativan make you sleepy all the time even after a long time of using it? Also did it take your appitite away?

  • i have something like this..haha

  • What do you do for irregular heartbeats (benign) that causes anxiety???

  • @cgarbiano I actually have not sought treatment for them at this time. I should though, so I can determine if they're benign or not.

  • @cgarbiano Hi, I also have irregular heart beats and suffer from panic attacks. I finally got into see a cariologist who gave me a hard treadmill test. My heart is in good shape. Alot of people have irregular heartbeats. Now I am at ease. The doc said if i was going to tac out, it would have happend on the treadmill. He also said that if i was having a heart attack during my panic attack or anytime. my chest would be full of sharp pain and my arms and shoulders would have shooting pain.

  • Thanks for sharing your ideas. Very welcome. I'm sure these would help lots of people with G.A.D. if they knew about them. Well done. I hope you are ok today.

  • @jimscottxxx Thank you so much! I am good today and hope you are well also.

  • thanks youve given some really useful advice im going write myself a little card to and carry it in my wallet :D

  • Wonderful video. I am a therapist myself and the practice of writing positive statements on index cards is a very valuable tool. I have also worked with people on writing inspiriting quotations on a card that they can carry around with them. Or, I'll have them make a list of the people that matter in their life, then when they believe that no one cares about them, they can take out the index cards and be able to have actual proof that there are people that care about them.

  • @Gilch30 Yes, this technique has worked wonders for me, when coupled properly with exposure therapy. I like your second idea as well. Thank you for sharing.

  • Thank you for doing this!

  • what do i do if i feel like im gonna puke and/or piss myself?

it is really not a fucking good feeling.....

  • @Udiel I know what you're saying - I am doing okay overcoming this kinda thing. I'd have anxiety originally, then for some reason that would cause me to feel overwhelmingly like I was gonna piss.-that would cause panic. I avoided car rides, social situations, etc. I got better at understanding and coping with my anxiety- I think that using coping skills to get mentally in control got me to feel safe, and able to feel physically in control. same principles. peace to you

  • THIS IS GREAT

  • Maybe a bit off topic, but I love the apothecary type drawers in the background.

  • test

  • So true, you do reinforce your anxiety by avoiding the situation. For me, its the intence fear of being stuck in an elevator. It basically consumes my day at work. Simply knowing you have meds avaliable if you need them, seems to help

  • You, sir, are a hero. Thank you <3 I never thought about writing cards. Cus people tend to not wanna think these things, its a lot easier if its written down. I'm going to try this. I'm agoraphobic and have generalized anxiety disorder. I've never been to my boyfriends house because its too far for me to walk and I'm petrified of the bus! We've been dating 6 months and it bums me out. I want to try but negative experiance scares me. D:

  • @Mnemosynex You definitely have some things to work towards as goals. Obviously overcoming this disorder, but also going to your BF's house. At my worst, I couldn't go and visit my dad 2 hours away, but it was a goal to work toward. Now I can finally do that drive. Your persistence will pay off!

  • Can I apply this to Stage frieght? I'm a guitar player that struggles with my hands shaking when i'm performing infront on an audiance.

  • I think so. After all, it is a type of anxiety. How long have you been playing in front of audiences?

  • I use to play all the time. back in the eighties I was playing in a rock band. I was slowly over coming it back then. I don't perform that much anymore but when I do I experience my hands shaking, and i constanly worry that it will happen again. I'm working on your method.

  • bwelm your cured from anxiety? cuz iv been having dizzy spells cause by anxiety trying to break the cycle but its hard so yah

  • youre very kind and insightful.thanks for doing this video. will try this little trick :)

  • Positive thoughts! You WILL be okay. Just remind yourself of that.

  • i drink way too much....and i have bad bad bad anxiety.. should i quit? or juss kill myself?

  • this is very helpful! ive been having a bit of a crisis of fait lately and i panic about things like dying and also about the existence of god and so on, so having those kind of thoughts w/o a secure logical answer do give me a problem. any advice on dealing with panic thoughts like those?

  • you remind me of sombody.... i think its myself 4 years ago.

  • i just listen to nine inch nails, that works for me LOL

    kidding.

  • Music is great! It sure helps get me through tough times.

  • one of my best and favorite songs to triumph over my anxiety is on the album "The Fragile" and the name of the song is "underneith it all"..its great.

  • For me, it's music from Brazil. It has a captivating rhythm and makes me think I'm on vacation sitting on Impanema beach in Rio De Janeiro sipping a Caiparenha under a palm tree. When I've got my anxiety under full control that's where I'm going to celebrate my victory over this crippling condition.

  • maby me and my wife can come with you, when we have ours fixed too. :)

  • That would be fun! It could be an anxiety support group field trip. :) Maybe in the meantime I'll learn how to mix caiparenhas.

  • thank you for commenting back. I guess I'm afraid of asking for help, especially when I tell people i have fears about the end of the world. They just laugh it off and treat me like I'm stupid. I think I do need to see someone, though. I'm not sure if my insurance will cover it because its through the state medi-cal program. I'm glad someone at least understands that my fears are legitimate and that you don't judge or laugh at me. Thank you for that.

  • Having people treat you that way is no help to you. I know how it feels to be judged or minimized. Surround yourself with caring individuals and you'll be surprised at how much support you'll get. The people that laugh you off are not your true friends. Going through a tough time like this you'll quickly find out who your real friends are. I lost one when my anxiety took a turn for the worst. He pretty much said he didn't want anything to do with me until I got better.

  • Based on how he treated me, I'm not sure I want anything to do with him!

  • i have been worried my entire life about the world ending, now i try to just not give a damn and let it go ahead if it does there is nothing i can do if it doesnt then thats great, i think this fear is often one that stems from religious abuse, its hard not to have but know that you are ok and the world can do its own thing, but i know the fear that you have you are not alone in it.

  • what about "fear of the unknown"? I've been having panic attacks when I think about the future, possible attacks on the United States, the collapse of the government.. especially when I see videos on youtube related to these topics. It scares the shit out of me, and I get sick to my stomach. I understand using the coping techniques to try to get through an attack, but how can I get over the fears i have of the 'unknown'???

  • Well, countering negative internal dialogue is a big way to do it. Fear is basically ourselves saying in our minds, "What if?", "What if I die?", "What if I pass out?", or "What if I have another attack?". We say it so much that we begin to believe it's likely to happen. They are valid fears however. But the question really becomes, how can you ditch those excessive fears over things that you have no control over? Worry is a habit and we all know how hard habits are to break.......

  • Fears about the future and unknown are normal to human nature. It's when the fears begin to dominate and negatively affect your life where it becomes a problem. Part of coping is to accept that there are things out of your control and being okay with it. Be ready to "ride the wave". Reversing negative thinking and replacing it with more realistic and honest thinking. Anxiety and panic, when not necessary, is simply your mind tricking you. It's all easier said than done of course.

  • I know that because I live it, day in day out. I still struggle daily with anxiety and anxious thoughts, but a professional therapist is absolutely crucial to help get you through it, if you can afford one. I've been seeing a therapist for a few months now and she's helped so much in my battle with anxiety.

  • What if you just get random panic attacks? I don't know how to "expose" myself to them, as they come at completely random times ;(

  • Random panic attacks to me, sound more like Panic Disorder (I could be wrong). I would consult with a psychiatrist/psychologist to get a proper diagnosis and get advice for tackling that issue. You could also get the book "Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" by Edmund Bourne. In the book is a rundown of symptoms so you can get a better idea of where to start. You can get an idea for what condition you might have and how to tackle it.

  • At the doctor's office last week I almost panicked. I had to stand up and take some deep breaths and exercise my legs. It was easier to do in the examining room because the doctor wasn't in there when it happened so I felt ok about working on it.

  • Yeah for me too, having people present can make me worse. When I panic, I prefer to be alone.

  • when you were a kid did you smoke alot of pot or drop acid? .....that stuff can make people really twik out!

  • Nope. Never touched illegal drugs.

  • i belive it has to do with genetics

  • That is definitely 1 factor. I have many family members on my dad's side that suffer from anxiety and panic.

  • "So what if I panic? Too damn bad!" Sounds just like Albert Ellis. Does that name mean anything to you?

  • Never heard of him. Anxiety deserves a little sarcasm sometimes.

  • Well "too damn bad" is exactly the kind of thing Ellis would have said. He told people to imagine the worst happening and then ask, "Would that be so terrible? It might be unpleasant or inconvenient but I can handle it." You might want to look him up. He has a lot of good literature on dealing with anxiety.

  • I'll look him up. Thanks.

  • that's great advice! now if only i can come up with some statements like that.lol.

  • I find myself in anxiety provoking situations that i become numb. i don't get the negative thoughts.

  • thanks

  • I've finally caught up with all your videos. They are very well put together. I also use coping statements but I tend to avoid ones with the words, panic, or anxiety in them or feeling faint, as I think that might actually trigger anxiety. I tell myself "I am calm and relaxed/I can do this/I feel great/Every day and in every way I'm feeling better and better"etc. Sounds dumb but I think it really helps. Good luck in everything that you are doing.

  • Thank you for the good word. :) Whatever helps you is great. Good luck with your recovery as well.
